Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem ~ Origins

Genesis Chapter 22

1. And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am.

2. And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.

3. And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him.

4. Then on the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place afar off.

5. And Abraham said unto his young men, Abide ye here with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you.

6. And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering, and laid it upon Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife; and they went both of them together.

7. And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?

8. And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.

9. And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood.

10. And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.

11. And the angel of the LORD called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I.

12. And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.

13. And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.

14. And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovahjireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen.

15. And the angel of the LORD called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time,

16. And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the LORD, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son:

17. That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;

18. And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.

19. So Abraham returned unto his young men, and they rose up and went together to Beersheba; and Abraham dwelt at Beersheba.

20. And it came to pass after these things, that it was told Abraham, saying, Behold, Milcah, she hath also born children unto thy brother Nahor;

21. Huz his firstborn, and Buz his brother, and Kemuel the father of Aram,

22. And Chesed, and Hazo, and Pildash, and Jidlaph, and Bethuel.

23. And Bethuel begat Rebekah: these eight Milcah did bear to Nahor, Abraham's brother.

24. And his concubine, whose name was Reumah, she bare also Tebah, and Gaham, and Thahash, and Maachah.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem ~ Origins

Oh LORD, Our One and Only God!
How Excellent is Your Most Holy Name!
How Wonderful,
How Holy,
How Righteous
and How Just and True You Are!
For You Alone Are Worthy Of Praise and Worship,
And You Alone Transcend Time and Space,
For You Alone Are The Creator of All That Is!

How Troubled we are by God's Requirement of Abraham!
After all these years of waiting,
and then the business with Ishmael, and now THIS?
And yet, the Incredible Faith of Abraham shines through,
As he says "God will provide Himself a Lamb for the offering.

14. And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovahjireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen.

The LORD indeed DOES provide the Sacrifice!
Thank You, Father for Your Eternal Word,
And All that it says to us.

Most Gracious Heavenly Father,
With Our Whole Soul, Mind, Heart, and Strength,
With Everything that has Your Precious Breath of Life,
We Love You!
We Thank You For You Righteous and Holy Torah,
Your Perfect Precepts and Judgments,
Your Archetypes and Analogies and Parables,
And Everything ELSE in Your Word that teaches us,
Or Warns us
Or shows us the Path To Redemption!

Abba, Father, We Pray for Your Beloved People,
Who despite Persecutions and Pogroms,
Exile and Slavery,
Holocaust and Now Denial of Their History,
have probably contributed more to Western Civilization
than any other People Group!

We ask for forgiveness for ourselves,
Dear Father, and we Pray for Our Nation.
We ask You to reverse the trends of evil and selfishness
that have taken hold in our own Land.
We beg that You will restore Faith in You,
The One True God,
and that Our own Nation will Once Again be Known as one
who keeps Her Promises to Her Friends and Allies,
and NOT as A Truce-Breaker.

Abba Father, How we long for that Day,
When You will remove From Your Holy Place
ANYTHING that does not Honor You,
and You ALONE.

LORD, We Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem,
For Israel,
and For The Jewish People.
We Thank You Profoundly For That Tiny Nation
that sits at the Very Crossroads of History,
At the Nexus of Three Continents,
A Holy Witness to The Ultimate Truth of Your WORD!

For it is Not By Might,
Not By Power,
But By Your Spirit that the enemy will be overcome.

We Plead For Israeli Control Over All the Holy Sites in Israel,
So that People of All Faiths may visit them.
We Pray For Bibi Netayahu, and the Leaders of Israel
May They Receive Wisdom from You to do the Right Thing.
We Pray For The Swift and Sure Coming of Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Establish His Kingdom,
and Make All Things Right.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Thread

Hallelujah and Amen

Rembrandt's Oil Painting of Abraham and Isaac

This is the Chapter we all KNEW was coming.

Jewish People Consider this The Turning Point in The Origin of Their People.

Christians see it as a Foreshadowing of The Messiah.

Either way it is an Amazing Story of Faith!
Abraham knew in his Heart That the LORD would either provide his own Sacrifice,
or Raise Isaac from the Dead,
But either way, he was obedient.

A few notes:

1. "tempt" in the first verse means to "Test".

2. Mt. Moriah is the present day Temple Mount.

3. Muslims claim it was Ishmael who was sacrificed, not Isaac. But they don't explain how Ishmael got back home after leaving Abraham with his mother and marrying an Egyptian. Oh Well.

Come and pray For The peace of Jerusalem With me!

Psalm 53

Denunciation of Godlessness To the leader: according to Mahalath. A Maskil of David.

1Fools say in their hearts, ‘There is no God.’
They are corrupt, they commit abominable acts;
there is no one who does good.

2God looks down from heaven on humankind
to see if there are any who are wise,
who seek after God.

3They have all fallen away, they are all alike perverse;
there is no one who does good,
no, not one.

4Have they no knowledge, those evildoers,
who eat up my people as they eat bread,
and do not call upon God?

5There they shall be in great terror,
in terror such as has not been.
For God will scatter the bones of the ungodly;*
they will be put to shame,* for God has rejected them.

6O that deliverance for Israel would come from Zion!
When God restores the fortunes of his people,
Jacob will rejoice; Israel will be glad.

Thank you for that Beautiful prayer, Etabeta.
It certainly is in the Will of God to pray for Wisdom.
It was Solomon's prayer, and he could have had ANYTHING he wanted.

But he prayed for Wisdom.

Psa 118:1 O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: because his mercy endureth for ever.
Psa 118:2 Let Israel now say, that his mercy endureth for ever.
Psa 118:3 Let the house of Aaron now say, that his mercy endureth for ever.
Psa 118:4 Let them now that fear the LORD say, that his mercy endureth for ever.
Psa 118:5 I called upon the LORD in distress: the LORD answered me, and set me in a large place.
Psa 118:6 The LORD is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?
Psa 118:7 The LORD taketh my part with them that help me: therefore shall I see my desire upon them that hate me.
Psa 118:8 It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.
Psa 118:9 It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes.
Psa 118:10 All nations compassed me about: but in the name of the LORD will I destroy them.
Psa 118:11 They compassed me about; yea, they compassed me about: but in the name of the LORD I will destroy them.
Psa 118:12 They compassed me about like bees; they are quenched as the fire of thorns: for in the name of the LORD I will destroy them.
Psa 118:13 Thou hast thrust sore at me that I might fall: but the LORD helped me.
Psa 118:14 The LORD is my strength and song, and is become my salvation.
Psa 118:15 The voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tabernacles of the righteous: the right hand of the LORD doeth valiantly.
Psa 118:16 The right hand of the LORD is exalted: the right hand of the LORD doeth valiantly.
Psa 118:17 I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD.
Psa 118:18 The LORD hath chastened me sore: but he hath not given me over unto death.
Psa 118:19 Open to me the gates of righteousness: I will go into them, and I will praise the LORD:
Psa 118:20 This gate of the LORD, into which the righteous shall enter.
Psa 118:21 I will praise thee: for thou hast heard me, and art become my salvation.
Psa 118:22 The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner.
Psa 118:23 This is the LORD’S doing; it is marvellous in our eyes.
Psa 118:24 This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.
Psa 118:25 Save now, I beseech thee, O LORD: O LORD, I beseech thee, send now prosperity.
Psa 118:26 Blessed be he that cometh in the name of the LORD: we have blessed you out of the house of the LORD.
Psa 118:27 God is the LORD, which hath shewed us light: bind the sacrifice with cords, even unto the horns of the altar.
Psa 118:28 Thou art my God, and I will praise thee: thou art my God, I will exalt thee.
Psa 118:29 O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.

May the Peace of Israel be in the hearts of everyone ho loved the GOD of Israel and the whole world!

The great apostle wrote to us Gentiles, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places” (Ephesians 6:12).

You must know that this fight is spiritual, which is clear from this statement. Because of this fact, our weapons must match and exceed the enemy’s weapons. Our Creator warned us often against thinking we can win in the flesh.

Paul continued to discuss our enemy by giving instruction in warfare, “Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand” (Ephesians 6:13).

20. And it came to pass after these things, that it was told Abraham, saying, Behold, Milcah, she hath also born children unto thy brother Nahor;

Interesting, this is the first mention Of Nahor, Abraham's brother since leaving his home. Where has he been? Evidently they are not together, as it was told abraham about the children. All for the genaology? No commentary in the Bibles, I have.

Psalm 104 (Young's Literal Translation)

Psalm 104
“ 1Bless, O my soul, Jehovah! Jehovah, my God, Thou hast been very great, Honour and majesty Thou hast put on.

2Covering himself [with] light as a garment, Stretching out the heavens as a curtain,

3Who is laying the beam of His upper chambers in the waters, Who is making thick clouds His chariot, Who is walking on wings of wind,

4Making His messengers — the winds, His ministers — the flaming fire.

5He hath founded earth on its bases, It is not moved to the age and for ever.

6The abyss! as with clothing Thou hast covered it, Above hills do waters stand.

7From Thy rebuke they flee, From the voice of Thy thunder haste away.

8They go up hills — they go down valleys, Unto a place Thou hast founded for them.

9A border Thou hast set, they pass not over, They turn not back to cover the earth.

10Who is sending forth fountains in valleys, Between hills they go on.

11They water every beast of the field, Wild asses break their thirst.

12By them the fowl of the heavens doth dwell, From between the branches They give forth the voice.

13Watering hills from His upper chambers, From the fruit of Thy works is the earth satisfied.

14Causing grass to spring up for cattle, And herb for the service of man, To bring forth bread from the earth,

15And wine — it rejoiceth the heart of man, To cause the face to shine from oil, And bread — the heart of man it supporteth.

16Satisfied [are] the trees of Jehovah, Cedars of Lebanon that He hath planted,

17Where birds do make nests, The stork — the firs [are] her house.

18The high hills [are] for wild goats, Rocks [are] a refuge for conies,

19He made the moon for seasons, The sun hath known his place of entrance.

20Thou settest darkness, and it is night, In it doth every beast of the forest creep.

21The young lions are roaring for prey, And to seek from God their food.

22The sun riseth, they are gathered, And in their dens they crouch.

23Man goeth forth to his work, And to his service — till evening.

24How many have been Thy works, O Jehovah, All of them in wisdom Thou hast made, Full is the earth of thy possessions.

25This, the sea, great and broad of sides, There [are] moving things — innumerable, Living creatures — small with great.

26There do ships go: leviathan, That Thou hast formed to play in it.

27All of them unto Thee do look, To give their food in its season.

28Thou dost give to them — they gather, Thou dost open Thy hand — they [are] satisfied [with] good.

29Thou hidest Thy face — they are troubled, Thou gatherest their spirit — they expire, And unto their dust they turn back.

30Thou sendest out Thy Spirit, they are created, And Thou renewest the face of the ground.

31The honour of Jehovah is to the age, Jehovah rejoiceth in His works,

32Who is looking to earth, and it trembleth, He cometh against hills, and they smoke.

33I sing to Jehovah during my life, I sing praise to my God while I exist.

34Sweet is my meditation on Him, I — I do rejoice in Jehovah.

35Consumed are sinners from the earth, And the wicked are no more. Bless, O my soul, Jehovah. Praise ye Jehovah.
