Pope Benedict XVI lead Mass at Cofton Park on Sunday at the culmination of his four-day UK state visit....

Peter Jennings, spokesman for the Archdiocese of Birmingham, said: "The whole visit itself has been a huge boost for everybody It's given new confidence to the Catholic Church and also to our relations with the Church of England and other churches."

...Father Richard Duffield, Provost of the Birmingham Oratory, said the Pope met a group of parishioners there and also thanked workers at the Oratory.

Appropriately, the cat is black, to match the habit of the Oratorians. Benedict XVI is a well-known cat lover.

But, as we saw as well, the Pope thanked one of the bomb-sniffing dogs during his UK visit as well: Pope gives [bomb] sniffer dog a pat of thanks [Ecumenical]

One of my “neighbourhood kitties” is jet-black with white boots. Perhaps it’s an Oratorian.

The look on the cat’s face almost says:

“Who is this guy in white and why is grabbing me around the throat? Also, I must remember to poop on my owners bed in retaliation for subjecting me to this”.

Basement kitteh must be a spy for the other side. How easily he has infiltrated the enemy!

Seriesly, he looks very comfortable and happy to be having his neck rubbed by the ultimate cat lover, his holiness Benedict XVI.

The cat looks rather nonplussed by the fuss and attention.
“Yeah, yeah, whatever.. Can we get back to snoozing and giving me scritches on my ears naow?”
Handsome cat, wonder how spoiled it is?
[Not that I know anything about spoiled cats, no, not me.. heavens no.]

Ours is a yellow-striped tabby. When the neighborhood had yard sales a couple of weekends ago, I had some kitchen debris for sale, and a sign that said, “Friendly yellow cat, free with purchase.”

All I sold was a cast-iron tortilla press, and they wouldn’t take Yellow Cat.
