The Diocese of Speyer have renovated a protestant Church for the old believers (traditionalists). The supper table is gone, the tabernacle is back, where it belongs, and the communion rail has been put up.
[kreuz.net, Speyer] Today the Bishop Karl-Heinz Wiesemann (50) of Speyer blessed a new altar in the collegial church in Newstadt on Weinstrasse. The pontifical office with altar blessing begins at 5pm, according to the website of the Dicoese of Speyer.
Newstadt is located fifteen kilometers northeast of Speyer.

What’s this “Newstadt”? The name of the town is Neustadt an der Weinstrasse.
This was THE hardest headline to decipher. You can read it several different ways. The church was restored, the council was devastated because of that.???
Oh, too bad. Did they have insurance, or have to pay cash?
The people responsible should be arrested and thrown in prison.
Neustadt (pron. “noy-stahdt” (translated Newstadt) means “new city,” and a very typical German word for the newer section of a city (even if that section is 300 years old!). Various cities in Germany have a Neustadt section.
Neustadt beats the German word for “city hall” which is Rathaus.... (fitting place for politicians, eh?)
Despite its name, Neustadt an der Weinstrasse is an old town on the Deutsche Weinstrasse, the “German Wine Highway,” a two-lane thoroughfare which stretches from Bockenheim in the north to Schweigen in the south, on the French border, through the wine country of the Rheinpfalz, or the Rhenish Palatine.
The headline (the thread title) is “overstating” what happened - rather than vandalism, the writer is emphaising that the “newer” style of churches introduced by Vatican II in the early-mid 60’s was replaced by the original style of church design.
Notably, it was a old (unused) Protestant church that was restored to traditional “Catholic” design!
In this particular case, the altar of the high altar was ripped from the reredos, and tabernacle extracted entirely; this is what was restored.
This and much of the so-called "renovation" was little more than vandalism... and much of the rest was outright iconoclasm.
Also, this church had both Catholic and Protestant sections, per the article.
They took out the communion rail, ripped out part of the high altar from the wall so they could have a “cookie table”.
Now it’s been put back the way it should be, deo gratias.
