In Christ Alone lyrics

Songwriters: Getty, Julian Keith; Townend, Stuart Richard;

In Christ alone my hope is found He is my light, my strength, my song This Cornerstone, this solid ground Firm through the fiercest drought and storm

What heights of love, what depths of peace When fears are stilled, when strivings cease My Comforter, my All in All Here in the love of Christ I stand

In Christ alone, who took on flesh Fullness of God in helpless Babe This gift of love and righteousness Scorned by the ones He came to save

?Til on that cross as Jesus died The wrath of God was satisfied For every sin on Him was laid Here in the death of Christ I live, I live

There in the ground His body lay Light of the world by darkness slain Then bursting forth in glorious Day Up from the grave He rose again

And as He stands in victory Sin?s curse has lost its grip on me For I am His and He is mine Bought with the precious blood of Christ

Where does the Bible ever say that John’s lifestyle was *penance* or that those are the works of penance ordained by God?

Does that mean all those Hail Mary’s and our Father’s that the priest gave me to say after confession weren’t really penance?

That I should have been walking around in a sack, living on the streets surviving on locusts and wild honey?

That’s the ideal Catholic lifestyle?

What are you doing with a computer?

OK JUST FINISHED the deed again.

Looks amazingly healthy considering.

No doubt thanks to all y’all’s prayers.

1. Took old off.
2. held digits in glass of Hydrogen Peroxide 15-30 seconds. Took out . . . let foam a bit . . . rinsed off w distilled water.

3. put betadine equal on. paper toweled dry;
4. put Neosporin wound cleansing foam on; paper toweled dry.

5. at some distance from hair dryer, dried for 15-20 min . . . part of thumb had become overmoist from Neosporin salve last dressing.

6. Put Monuka honey on thin strip of clean cloth like Vera paper towel. Applied to thumb first (same procedure both, of course). Put cotton cloth finger tube dressing over that.

Paper taped over ends and down length 2 strips. Paper taped around base of cloth tube securing to skin. Left 2 strips of cloth tube open to air closest to wounds but still on the sides. Wounds are on back of finger and on pad and down a bit from tip on back of thumb.

Didn’t see any puss pockets etc. Slight oozing of blood/fluid from one tiny spot on thumb and near stripped away part of middle fingernail.

All in all, given how it looked right after saw dance . . . I think it’s amazingly rapid healing. PRAISE GOD.

MUCH APPRECIATE ALL Y’ALL’S INPUT, CARING AND PRAYERS.

You can find a hand hobby book binder to rebind it for you.

Much appreciate the prayers and caring.

No sign of swelling.

PTL.

I keep it elevated a bit on a pillow when I sleep. Often when sitting I’ll hold it up for a time. Usually during the day, it’s waist high but get’s some movement even though awkwardly.

Circulation appears to be quite good. Color is good.

The wounds are the top 1/8th” or so of skinn. Not super deep. Not super shallow. PRAISE GOD FOR THAT!

Agreed. I find it’s faster to use a web search engine to get a reference and *then* go to an online Bible than to try to search the online Bible first where dozens or hundreds of hits pop up to be sorted through.

When I get asked what are my most prized possessions, my answers are, my Bible, my kids’ baby books, and my Griswold cast iron skillet.

Thanks for the speedy reply. Our definitions concerning “church” are very different. I see it as all the individual members of the Body of Christ becoming one in him, all believers in him are part of the universal called-out assembly - the church. What is your definition?

So glad you encouraged Qx to change the dressing. Better than if he’d left it past the 24-hour mark. Glad he listened to your advice.

Thanks. I think, though, that I like its fragile condition as a well-worn Bible tells me someone has spent much time in it. I have had it since 1972 - nearly 40 years!

I think I understand your sentiment . . .

However, wouldn’t you put a knit coat on an old cat or dog with poor circulation who was chronically cold and shivering? LOL.

I’m a bibliophile from Jr High . . . old books need love too.

The worn fragile pages within would be the same. But the outer covering would be new and protective.

of course . . . imho and biases. LOL.

I wore out lots of Bibles. Would usually turn them in for missionary use or some such.

Looks amazingly healthy considering......Left 2 strips of cloth tube 'open to air 'closest to wounds but still on the sides.

Great! It can't be easy changing the bandage with one hand. You certainly have the system down pat, Dr.Quix. So happy you have/using Manuka - good for infection and healing.

Thanks for your kind words.

Nope. Once a day is more than sufficient, thanks.

Someone suggested soaking in very warm salt water with iodine in it. Sounded reasonable for drawing junks out.

Plan to do that before all the other falderall.

I still have a bias that leaving the wounds alone to heal is not a bad idea. Particularly at some point. Maybe we’re not QUITE at that point, yet. Should be in another 24-72 hours, I’d think—particularly at the speed they seem to be healing. PTL.

I agree. It's only 24 hrs now and you notice a big improvement. How are you able to type so well?

Often when sitting I’ll hold it up for a time.

Maybe put it in a sling - i.e. a scarf around your neck - at least for tomorrow. Might be easier than remembering to elevate it.

I’M A LOT slower than usual.

at typing.

and my middle finger injury is on the top, not the palm side and the bandage is a good one.

THX FOR YOUR CARING, PRAYERS AND INPUTS.

HEADING TO BED.

Yes, you’ve nailed it. Our definitions of Church are very different.

The primary diference in this context is the Church is given authority by Christ.

Not the individual member, but the Apostolic Church. We see this in Acts in the first council and following councils and continuously throughout the history of the Church.

A question and illustrative example, when an Calvinist and a non-Calvinist disagree, how do they “take it to the church”?

When you and I disagree about the meaning of scripture, which of our views is “the Christian view”?
