Hannity Find His 'Inner Liberal' Amid Exorcist Priest Scandal (Hannity is a Jerk) (Ecumenical)

Fox News host Sean Hannity addressed the controversy surrounding a top Virginia exorcist Catholic priest at the end of his Hannity cable news show Wednesday night and made note of the unusually favorable treatment he has been getting from Huffington Post commenters.

After playing portions of a now-infamous 2007 exchange in which then-Human Life International Father Thomas Euteneuer called Hannity a "heretic" and "cultural Catholic," Hannity read part of Fr. Euteneuer's recent confession to transgressions which caused him to be removed as head of Human Life International.

"I take full responsibility for my own poor judgment, my weakness and my sinful conduct that resulted from it," Hannity read.

The host then noted the priest's admission of violating his vow of chastity due to human weakness, which Fr. Euteneuer said "did not involve the sexual act."

"Bill Clinton would be proud of that," Hannity joked.

"Look, I don't want to make a situation worse. Apparently something happened -- pretty severe -- and he's been taken away from his position," Hannity said.

But Hannity still seemed upset at at having his faith questioned and the priest's conduct after the appearance on Hannity & Colmes.

"He's so self righteous. He spent years raising money off this exchange with me and building his name recognition," Hannity said....

One of the panelists joked that the video clip of his face-off with Rev. Euteneuer had "brought out the inner liberal" in Hannity.

Hannity responded, "That's like the Huffington Post defending me [today]."

Sexual indiscretions that ALSO didn’t involve “the” sexual act?” ___________________________________________________

I think you may be trying to graduate the sin to the sex act, to make this add up, when in reality for a Catholic priest he is held to a higher standard, and held far more accountable for much less. His accusers probably know this.

I am not saying that it is not possible that he is lying, but he is held to just as much accountability for having done far less, so to him it is going to be just as penalizing.

Maybe the problem is that your understanding of chastity is too limited and technical.

Using hearsay? LOL! The article that you excerpted from was written before his statement, his bishop’s statement, and HLI’s statement came out.

Maybe the problem is that equivocation doesn't indicate contrition.

To me the use of the phrase “the sexual act” is tied up in the word “the”. As if there is only “the” sexual act. It was, from the formulation used, most likely “a” sexual act, just not “the” sexual act. Quite Clintonian in the parsing of his words.

Apparently this was an ongoing thing, and reportedly with three different women, and in connection with his performance of exorcisms.

I don't see where you arrive at “contrition” when your journey begins and ends with “equivocation”.

By his actions he has proven Fr. Tom to be correct. Sean Hannity is a “cultural catholic/cino”. Sean is gloating over someone else’s failings, he is a real arrogant jerk.

If Hannity would stop saying “You know” every other sentence, he could reduce his radio show to 30 minutes.

Nothing changes the truth of the charges leveled against Hannity by Fr. Euteneuer.

Hannity's cheap tut-tutting at the fall of Euteneuer is remarkably childish, uncharitable and ungracious--most especially because the father's attempt to inform Hannity of the error of his views was a spiritual act of mercy. Using Euteneuer's sin to implicitly strengthen his perverse "Catholicism" only compounds the gravity of Hannity's scandalous behavior.

I pray that Sean and all similarly misguided Catholics are given the grace of humility, avail themselves of the Sacrament of Reconciliation and return to a loving obedience to the authority of the Church they claim to believe in.

I’m not seeing equivocation here. Which isn’t to say I’m letting Fr. E. off the hook — just that we don’t have sufficient information to know if he has now come clean or not.

In his public statement he has every right to be vague: the woman involved is an adult entitled to her own good name, and Fr. E. is not accountable to us.

Um, neither did Father Euteneuer. Reading is your friend.

One of the best contributions Catholics make to forming character is the ability to understand degrees of wrongful action or sin. That was my experience growing up Catholic as a child.

Of all the nasty Catholic abortion promoters in this society, why did this priest single out Hannity who is pro life? Why wouldn’t Hannity go back at the priest’s moral credibility issues when Hanity feels the priest wrongly condemned him as immoral?

Neither one should be condemning the other, if you ask me. They were both on the same team.

It’s a bit more complicated than Hannity merely being “pro-life.” As a public figure who represented that Catholicism was a key component of his life, his public dissension on Church teaching on birth control was scandalous.

You don't see equivocation in it not being “the” sexual act?

Really?

If he could have written that “it did not involve a sexual act” no doubt he would have. But that, most likely would have been an outright lie rather than a Clintonian equivocation.

So instead we read that “it did not involve “the” sexual act”.

If a Democrat Congressman said he had an “inappropriate relationship” with a woman that “did not involve ‘the sexual act’”, you would find his remarks clear and forthcoming and not at all engaged in equivocation?

Really?

They were both on the same team.

No they're not. Fr. E has admitted wrongdoing. Hannity denies it and tries to change the subject, pointing at the priest who called him out. Hannity's a blustering self-promoter and thug.

Sean Hannity & Bill O'Reilly, both Catholics in name only...

Anyone that get any of their information from these two regarding the faith will most assuredly be led astray. The Church does not benefit from such clueless as these two...

You don't see equivocation in it not being “the” sexual act?

Regardless, EVEN assuming you are completely correct and know all details as to the downfall of the Priest. WHAT does that have to do with Hannity? If you are not equivocating yourself here on Hannity's behalf then what is your point with this apparent pursuit?

Why not just admit that many disagree with your opinion and move on?

I disagree with you -oh well...
