Look up Gregorian chant in just about any current dictionary or encyclopedia and you will see a description that says it is the liturgical chant of the Roman Catholic Church. Notice that the tense of the verb to be is in its present form of is.

Yes, for a thread like this, without ‘(Catholic Caucus)’ appended to the thread title invites everyone to bash the Catholic faith...Satanists, those ensconsed within this age, and regular run of the mill ‘not catholic jerks’. This is specifically a Catholic topic. If you can’t figure out the change , post to ‘religion moderator’ to make it for you.

Gee - I thought this thread was going to be a discussion of the musical qualities of Gregorian chant and how it is related to the history of the Roman Catholic Church.
Then I was going to observe that as a Catholic I find that Gregorian chant has unique and wonderful qualities such that I enjoy listening to it even outside of Church liturgy. Usually at home and in the evening, as a way to both shut out the rest of the world and to contemplate the goodness of G-d.
Oh well, guess that train left the rails before it left the station. Seems like nothing sparks intranecine warfare on FReepers more than the keywords “Catholic Church”.
I play Gregorian Chant while sleeping; serves as an outside noise mask and is peaceful music to sleep to.
