The next stage of the sex abuse issue and the pretext for the coming persecution and purification of the Church; Catholics as a whole are complicit. This is also the line pushed by various Freepers. You know who you are; "Catholics on these boards defend sex abuse".

History repeats itself. During the French Revolution, corruption among a small percentage of the clergy was used as the pretext for a bloody persecution of Catholicism.

As for Rice, her rage is fueled by another issue which will also be used against the Church in the future; the homosexual question and the the Church's supposed persecution of homosexuals. Throw in complicity in the spread of a deadly disease (AIDS), for its stand on condoms and persecution of women for its fight against abortion and the "Catholic problem" becomes very real.

All the ingredients are there. It's simply a matter of time and the further decay of western morality.

Ann Rice had a child that died very young she suffered a mental collapse and has blamed everyone and everything for it and mostly GOD and religion. After her husband died she lost it again.

What an insight. I never thought of it that way before, but it is very much like the mafia, insofar as it's running a protection racket for its boss (God).

except that it's good for people, whereas the mafia, not so much.

I'm thinking God was the originator, though, and the mafia, a cheap (if you'll pardon the pun), umm, knockoff.

The Catholic is the perfect religion practiced by imperfect people. In spite of good and bad people it will be here until the end of time. That it has lasted for 2000 years manifests that.

Looking at people missed the point. It isn’t people that makes the Catholic religion great. It is the Real Presence of the Body and Blood of Jesus.

We need to pray for Anne Rice.

She did become a Catholic or at least a Christian at one time. Have you read her book, “Jesus Christ, Out of Egypt?” It’s a novel about the childhood of Christ and is quite well documented.

However, as I understand it, she has gone back to her atheism and vampire novel mode. So, yes, she needs prayers.

Yeah Anne, if only the Church was more tolerant of homosexualists like you wanted the homosexualist priest scandal wouldn’t have involved so many scumbag homosexualist predators.

And your vampires are sorry wimps.

Now, as an Orthodox Christian, I regard the Orthodox Church as being the One, Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church, poetically called the Ark of Salvation.

In the face of attitudes like Ms. Rice’s, though, perhaps our separated Latin brethren might want to quote a remark an Orthodox priest made in response to a minor scandal involving a venial Orthodox bishop, “The Church is the Ark of Salvation: if it weren’t for the flood outside, no one would put up with the smell inside.”

This woeful story is an axiom to and embodiment of the saying, "I wouldn't want to be a member of any group that would have me as a member."

How poetic that a homosexual supporter and her gay son find comfort in the sin-quenching aspect of the body that caused the value-sheltering Catholics to be gracious to homosexuals only then attempt to torch them with the same.

Imagine Christians welcoming sinners into their midst, dispensing grace and forgiveness, allowing assumedly-past sinners to become exalted to positions of authority, then, as they continue their evil, see the church itself blamed, despoiled and asked for recompense for not rooting their very rotten selves!

The Catholic body knows the Christ-like work they do, even to stay the sinners' deserved punishments so long as possible, that they might yet be saved, as they simultaneeously seek not to be broken by the sinners' (previoulsy undisclosed) impenitant evil! How awful, they say, it is that the church would seek to protect itself and its values against disreputation and destruction!

In their evil lust ultimately to devour their host, gays desire to misdirect (as the media have so ably shown how-to) that the institution's self-protection mechanisms are somehow the "real corruption going on here", when in fact their infection of the godly institution is the faulty trigger and evil that lurks behind all this kicked-up bruhaha.

Such will it ever be, and that is why homosexuality was quite rightly spoken against in the Bible. The arrogance of gays to insist upon their consummately vicious values above the values of the institution they've infected and thrived upon is merely their desired, repeatable tipping point, toward the institution's destruction.

Any who would save their respective institutions need to root these out!

My problem with Catholics is that they are socialists. Why can’t they simply quit Catholicism and embrace a protestant denomination? To me, Catholicism is synonymous with Europe and Latin America and hence socialism. You must have seen the recent survey on the breakdown of the supporters of Sarah Palin as the GOP candidate for 2012. Her support among Catholics was among the lowest and they seemed to prefer RINOs to Palin. This does not surprise me one bit.

Instead of trading insults, why not deal with the real issue - Gnosticism.

The Gnostics had the belief that the world was created by a demiurge, the creator God of the Old Testament was not the true Father of Jesus, a different God the Father was. Moreover, the creation he created, with all its institutions like marriage, for instance, was bad also. One should distance himself from the “flesh” or the “world” created by the evil demiurge.

Early church fathers like Irenaeus wrote against all this, and there was a separation between the “orthodox” and the heretics. The trouble is, many of the basics of Gnosticism was carried over into the so called “orthodox,” or Catholic. Thus we see all these celibate monks out in the desert. That same Gnostic celibacy was ultimately ensconsed int the RCC, and has been there ever since.

The RCC celibate tradition is extrabiblical, Gnostic in origin, and does not belong in a truly Apostolic institution. It is absolutely atrocious what has been imposed upon these poor priests and nuns. It is no mystery as to why the RCC is frought with sexual moral failure. It’s Gnostic celibacy is what should be attacked, not these people who are victims of it.

I wonder what she has to say about all the Arab boys that are bonded into homo sex slave relationships? Probably not much as it’s safer to criticize an organization that values forgiveness and as quick to embrace pain as a cross to bear as opposed to a religion that will cut your head off for telling the truth.
