Full title: Priest stole $1m from church for male escorts.... and designer clothes… but won't have to pay it back and could serve again

A Catholic priest who stole more than $1 million in church money and spent it on male escorts, Armani clothes and nights out at gay bars has been jailed for three years.

But the priest from Connecticut could be allowed to continue serving as a priest after he has served his sentence, according to his former church.

Father Kevin Gray, 65, the former pastor of the Sacred Heart Parish, Waterbury, was sentenced to prison on Wednesday. He had entered a plea of no contest.

He had used the money to pay for a lavish lifestyle, which included owning a secret flat in New York, which he shared with a man who he paid to go to Harvard University.

Prosecutors said Gray will not have to pay back the money because the Diocese of Hartford did not ask for restitution.

I don’t “police” anyone

Then I don't ever expect to hear a negative comment out of you on the Catholic Church, to do otherwise would make you a liar and a hypocrite

.....And you got that right, as a Christian and a Catholic, it is any wonder why I shake my head in shame when those who call themselves Bible Christians, remember what Jesus has said about getting rid of the log in their own eyes first, before accusing others and also about casting the first stone, because ALL are weak humans who are in need at all times in the good news of Jesus and His Gospel.

I didn’t say I don’t make sport of someone when they start fighting with each other. Do it all you want but expect to be made sport of.

“So, are you then admitting that the “gates of Hell” have prevailed against the Catholic Church?”

No, I’m just saying that homosexual activists are attacking many institutions from the inside. Not just churches, but schools, media, entertainment, corporations, etc.

Mark if you go to an RC church the majority if the 1/3 of Catholics that even go to mass have white hair.. Protestants do not count membership until someone can affirm the desire for membership and that willingly places one under the discipline of the church ...
So Catholic numbers mean nothing ... ..

The National “catholic” Reporter is a “catholic” leftist Soros funded “news” outlet. I see you and your groupies causing division all over the FR Religious Forum. I also see you aiding and abetting the Marxist-Islamist agenda. Who are you?

This is so much the Catholic way of debate.. do not like the message.. well then attack the messenger .. The truth is a small number of   Catholics every go to church at all or only go in Christmas and Easter.. about Catholic membership... well there are lies and then there are damn lies and the catholic statistics fall into the latter

as opposed to the protestant way of: don't like the message start a new church, don't like the music director start a rumor that they drink in secret, don't like the pastors wife, have one of the little tramps start hitting on him. Yeah you guys are all so pious and holy, makes me sick to think I used to be one of you and glad i went back to the Catholic Church.

I don’t know what Catholic Churches some people go to, but the one I go to is huge, vibrant, has a school attached, is financially sound, had 29 people come into the Church at Easter...sure there are Easter and Christian attendees. There are at all churches. Sure there are old folks, and infants, and teens, and adults...

Before the others criticize the Catholics, perhaps they should identify their own churches. Can’t you see them just saying, “We’re the best church of all, and we won’t tell you who we are.” Funny!

it has been my experience that most of the ones that refuse to identify themselves or claim to be "nondenominational" are in actuality really Baptists of some ilk. they really hate it when I post from the Baptist predator site, because it hits just a little to close to home. They also get really upset when you ask them why there is a white baptist church on one corner and on the next one there is an African American one?

Actually you folks were the ones that started it by posting in the first place, and the facts are that Public high schools are worse than the Catholic Church is and Protestant churches are the worst of the religious groups, and that includes LDS and SDA. Look up the stats yourself.

There were eighteenth different Baptist congregations in my community of town and environs of about 20,000. Many of them were just “free lance”operations. A guy would just rent a building and gather a congregations, which would grow or die depending on his gifts. Sometimes, a congregation would split because a faction would become dissatisfied with the founder, and they would either just go to another preacher, or just scatter. My grandmother joined a “Bible Baptist” Church—just a small building down the street that had held several congregations. A new young preacher came in and began to preach. His congregation grew and after a while he started collected money for a new church building. After about a year, he suddenly split, telling now one where he was going. According to the deacon on, he had splt with the money.

Now with a ,little investigation, one could multiple instances of such things. Also of sexual shenanigans, of quarreling in the churches, of eloquent preachers with no morals, of good men of decent morals who nonetheless found temptations in women/the bottle/ of in the church till. But with no central authority, there is no blame to be attached to the name “Baptist.”or “Pentecostal,”of whatever. But with the Catholic Church there is this ancient hatred that goes back to the Reformation and which wishes only to look at the bad things that Catholics have done. Yes. we have the Inquisition, and we have had also the religious wars. We have “Bloody Mary.” and Foxe’s martyrs.
But we have also had tens of thousands of Christian monks moving all over Europe bringing the Gospel to pagan peoples. We have seem the evil that conquistadors perpetrated. But we have men like De Las Casas who walked tens of thousands of miles over Latin American and doing his best to call these men to account, and at long last persuading the king of Spain to set up imperial laws that for the 16th Century were models of just rule for a conquered race. Millions were claimed for Christ hundreds of years before Protestants began their missions abroad and bergan circulating their Bibles. Spain did much evil in the world but also did much good, and at Malta and Lepanto and Vienna held back the Turks, the strongest power in Europe, and kept them from subjugating the Christian West. Now Europe no longer acknowledges its debt to the Church and some American Protestants villify her, and exhibit almost joy at the exposure of unfaithful priests. THAT, they believe, is the REAL face of the Church. And what about the faithful majority?

Better to turn your attention to the collapsing mainline Protestant churches. If the Catholic Church has been ill-served, betrayed by homosexuals, the mainline Protestant Churches are tell us that homosexuality is God's willing, that the Bible is a child's fancy, that marriage is no more than a contract to be broken if the two” partners”do not get along, and find its restraints unfulfilling. “Speck in the other’seyes, or the beam in your own.

Who are you?

Why are you supporting the Soros led Marxist/Islamist agenda?

Nothing you wrote answered my queries. I post at Media Matters as a conservative and can’t believe I’m talking to someone on FR - perhaps I’ve dealt with you over there as well. Why are you so obsessed with Catholics and their numbers? What business is it of yours?

Fact: The National “catholic” Reporter is a leftist organization funded by George Soros. Another poster posted a thread from the leftist source - Global Post - who use quotes from leftiest news orgs. I will continue to call you and those who post from such sites out as I catch them.

Now answer my questions.

Mark if you go to an RC church the majority if the 1/3 of Catholics that even go to mass have white hair..

So? I have mostly white hair - I've had it since I was about 20. Do you levy a retributerative judgement upon me because of it?

Protestants do not count membership until someone can affirm the desire for membership and that willingly places one under the discipline of the church ...

And what discipline would that be? Wasn't it your bunch that said that they don't even require any sort of doctrinal belief unless and until they became church officers, and then they had to confess that they believed in the WCF?

So Catholic numbers mean nothing ... ..

To the contrary. They mean everything. It is the Protestant numbers that mean nothing, based upon their own statements.

“My numbers were a little off, but these are still telling:http://pewresearch.org/pubs/743/united-states-religion
BTW: Bronxville is the nicest suburban town in NY state and one of only two towns in Westchester that I would enjoy living in (if I could afford it).”

Thanks for the link and yes you were a bit off with the numbers but that’s not why I wanted the report. :)

I just like to know the who, what, why, and when of a report and missed this one. This is from the Pew Insitution which is leftist. A slogan currently on their site - “America is Changing”. I can give you a muckety link on them if you’re not aware of their slant. I couldn’t find out who requested this report as it does make a difference in the outcome. Reports like these cost a lot of money and Pew wants to keep their doors open. The Rockefeller Center usually requests there reports from the professors at the Chicago University (owned by Rockefeller). This report has all Christian religions diminishing in numbers except Muslims, Mormons, gaia... The current strategy is working for them so we can expect more pounding from the MSM, New Age blogs, Hollywood etc. Oh, and some here on this very forum.

Where do you live that you know bronxville? Yes, it’s a really nice place to live...And, of course I must ask, what’s the other town? Scarsdale?

Thanks RobbyS for that terrific post. There’s been a lot of revisionist history going on and not just in the secular world. Islam is stealing much of our history with the help of the Marxists in the DOE. Have you read any of Professor Thomas E Woods books? EWTN has some good audio of his talks - “Builder of Civilization”.

Chesterton knew how important Lepanto was...though not as important as Vienna (to the Ottoman Empire anyway)...
