Presbyterian Church gives OK to ordain leaders who are gay
Gaston Gazette ^ | 13 May 2011 | Amanda Memrick

The church’s constitution used to have a requirement to “live either in fidelity within the covenant of marriage between a man and a woman or chastity in singleness” for church officers. The amendment change removes that stipulation and requires church leaders to “submit joyfully to the Lordship of Jesus Christ in all aspects of life.”...

The changes also state that the governing body responsible for ordaining ministers or installing lay leaders should examine each candidate’s calling, gifts, preparation and suitability for the responsibilities of office.

“Governing bodies shall be guided by Scripture and the confessions in applying standards to individual candidates,” it states.

From the article
“We can disagree with each other but we can still exist under the same denominational title. Presbyterians have been dealing with this issue for at least 30 years, and many of us think there are more important missional issues,” Davenport said. “The mission of the church and the proclamation of the gospel is more important that wrangling over sexual issues, and I hope we’re moving in that direction to get over this, to put our focus on what we think is more important, which is the proclamation of the gospel and the salvation of the world rather than arguing about sex all the time.”
Obsessed with it aren't they?

Let me guess.

“Go and sin no more” is not a part of their gospel.

Neither is being “born again” into life anew.

Neither is becoming a “new creature” whereby “old things are passed away”.

Okay kiddies, in Sunday School this morning we’re going to learn the real story about David and Jonathon . . . .

Why don’t these perverted, anti-Biblical, anti-God “Presbyterians” just go and switch to Unitarianism and be done with it?

Oh, that’s right. Because their goal is not to find a church that supports what they believe in. Their goal is to subvert as many churches and bring them down into darkness as possible.

Defund them by withholding “offerings.”

I wonder how many confessing churches in the PCUSA will react to this heresy and leave that apostate denomination to join those of us in the PCA and the OPC who still hold a high view of scripture.

“submit joyfully to the Lordship of Jesus Christ in all aspects of life.” = worship at the alter of a god of your own making.

Idolatry in full swing.

The problem is, as experessed on other threads — what if these folks bring their liberal strain. They will slowly destroy these other groups from within.

All of David’s dirty laundry was hung out to dry in the Bible. If there was any violation of Mosaic Law, it was reported in the books of Samuel, Kings and Chronicles.

In fact, one of the measures of a good king was one who drove the sodomites out of the land. One of the measures of a bad king was one who allowed them to flourish.

David, because of his repentence and desire to right the wrongs, was called a man after God’s own heart.

I don’t think any of the pro-sodomite clergy measure up to that.

Now they can be gay in Jesus. Thus the institutional church is unmasked. The cross is exchanged for the skull and crossbones. They have become, for all to see, agents of chaos, not soldiers of the Way of Christ. Why do we struggle against sexual immorality? Jesus said we shall be known by our fruit, not by being fruity.

And I give my OK for them to remove the word “Church” from their title.

Yes, but there is a lot of church property, including some truly beautiful churches, at stake here.

So they are choosing between following Christ or worshipping their building? Who is “the church”? The people or the building?

The PCA is very strong on church discipline. Just speaking for our Session and Presbytery this type of thing would not last long.

Yes, agreed, the people are the church. What I am saying is that I have read about other situations like this where gay/lesbian activists have driven ordinary people away from a church and then remain in possession of the church’s propeerty, sort of a power grab. A money grab. And it was ordinary people’s contributions that built the church and the community halls etc.

Perhaps, but you need to screen folks coming from the PCUSA.

This same sophistry and treachery waa attempted in the Episcopal Church:

1) I bring up a change I want.

2) When denied what I want, I persist in bringing it up. For DECADES

3) Then I say you ought to let me have my way so that “we” can stop talking about it and “do something more important,” — more important, that is, than the thing I brought up and I perseverated in.

And people actually fall for this!

Or, how many churches or individual Ptrsbyterians will go to the Bible Presbyterians, or the Free Presbyterians, or even to independent Presbyterian churches?

Exactly -- a false sense of "democracy".
