Oprah's Jesus Comments Reignite Faith Debate

During the final episode of her namesake show, Oprah Winfrey credited God for her success and said His grace is something everyone can have "if you let it in."

While Winfrey's lengthy remarks about her beliefs during Wednesday's curtain call of "The Oprah Winfrey Show" drew applause from the audience, many Christians remained skeptical.

"People often ask me what is the secret to the success of this show -- how have we lasted 25 years. I non-jokingly say, 'My team and Jesus,'" Winfrey said. "Because nothing but the hand of God has made this possible for me."

Christians have criticized Oprah for emphasizing spirituality over religion, and using the term "God" when many of her teachings don't align with Christianity.

In the past, Oprah has said she believes there is more than one way to God, which contradicts the Christian foundation. Wednesday, she spoke directly to those who've been critical.

"For all of you who get riled up when I mention God, and want to know which God am I talking about -- I'm talking about the same one you're talking about," Oprah said.

"I'm talking about the Alpha and Omega. The omniscient, the omnipresent, the ultimate consciousness, the source, the force, the all of everything there is, the one and only G-O-D. That's the one I'm talking about," she continued.

In 2009, CBN News spoke with author Josh McDowell, about his then-new book, O God: A Dialogue on Truth and Oprah's Spirituality.

He explained that, although Oprah uses words that sound like they are based in Christianity, her real message is radically different from and even dangerous to the Christian faith.

She attended thats punks church for ten years. She knew what he's about and his message appealed to her, but she was worried about losing all those middle class white viewers.

She's as phony as they come.

I've always been curious how anyone could profess faith in God through Jesus Christ, yet consistently endorse, embrace and vote for baby murdering, homosexual loving, anti God candidates. How can these people not see the inconsistency?

And to think millions of mush brained women (and men) listen to what she says.

Disguised as an angel of light.

The natural course when “free will” replaces the sovereignty of God.

This is nothing unusual in today's culture. There are many, dare I say most, that have a skewed version of some vague representation of some made up Christianity that they heard from a friend or family member, that preach their fantasy with such conviction that they are just like everyone else and have superior knowledge of Spiritual things and will attempt to "convert" you or convince you that the Bible is wrong and they are right.

This usually manifests itself from a person that is praying for God to help them with some life tragedy all the while taking drugs, fornicating, preaching homosexual marriage, and aborting their children. If you are in such complete rebellion to God, why would He hear your prayer? This cultural thinking comes from even within some churches now. We have preachers running off with the piano players, or living in sin while sitting in pews, or organizing for Obama while a deacon. They have claimed Christ's name while never reading His Book. You can find this all over TV and down to even family members. Bill Orielly will confidently say that God will take any person to heaven as long as they are "good people". Who is good? a Muslim who deny's Christ's Deity? A Buddhist worshiping statues? A homosexual that gives money to charity?

Of course the Bible tells us that NONE are good, no not one, but we just can't bring ourselves to believe that God condemns all these people. They were born dead and must be resurrected by the Holy Spirit to be alive to God. Oprah just believes she is a nice person so why would God condemn her to Hell? Staying out of prison isn't God's measure for "goodness". Submission to His Will is what He desires. His Will is for our Salvation and He tells up front we are filthy rags in his eyes so to be righteous, we must accept Jesus as our Redeemer to face God without blemish. To reject Jesus is to face God with our self righteousness.

We can disagree on many side issues but this one is central to being a child of God. BOR, ( I'm not picking on him but just choose him as an example) along with Oprah have basically the same belief system and both are convinced they are right. Take anyone off the street and ask them who can go to Heaven and you will most likely get the same answer.

This problem arises, IMHO, because we aren't allowed to speak on the Bible and Spiritual things in public anymore. It takes years of Bible study to get the fundamentals etched in stone so you won't be led astray by New Age teaching. People just don't get that today. Obama was in church for 20 years and he has NO CLUE about Christ and what was taught. If you read the Bible just a little, you should be clear on what Christ teaches on homosexuality or abortion, but a majority of "Christians" today would say God is wrong and He must have changed His mind because I am good and I don't believe the Bible's teachings. Why would you say you are a Christian, but disagree with Christ? When a poll says 70%-80% of Americans are Christian, someone is obviously lying.

The same phenomenon is apparent in Muslims. How can you believe God wants you to murder His people to be a "good" Muslim? They are under the same lie as these cafeteria Christians that can't seem to "get" what God teaches. This isn't man made religion, but Satan made religion. These people live in a delusion that God didn't really mean what He said, and I must be OK because I gave $10 to the food kitchen and I believe homosexuality is not an abomination. That isn't God's measure for "goodness". Keep fornicating with your girlfriend and praying that your hearts desire will get answered by God and you'll have a long wait ahead of you.

That's right! Any fool knows that Oprah was predestined to turn out the way she did. She had no choice.

"When a poll says 70%-80% of Americans are Christian, someone is obviously lying."

Deceived might be a better description of their condition. The worst position to find oneself in is to believe you're saved when you're actually not. Jesus said, "Many will come to Me and say 'Lord, Lord.' But I will say to them "Depart! I never knew you."

Oprah and those of her ilk are the most dangerous people on the planet. While their intentions may be good, they are deceived and leading others into hell. "They have a form of godliness but deny the power."

Satan has done a masterful job of deceiving humans since his encounter with Eve in the Garden. His tactic is ancient. He mixes a little bit of the truth with lies and gets people to doubt God's Word. "Did God say?" Oprah is a prime example of the success of this tactic.

Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith start the second hour of Oprah’s farewell spectacular with a bang! “Tomorrow, Oprah takes the stage for her final bow,” Will says. “But right now we’ve got a jam-packed, surprise-filled hour of magic and excitement to celebrate 25 years of groundbreaking television.”

“I want to thank you for the 25 years that you have given us. We have traveled many roads with you. You have enlightened us, you have empowered us and you have taught us how to be,” Jada says. “I know you don’t have children of your own, but you have mothered millions. And I just want to tell you that right now, Mama, that puts you in the status of a goddess.”

Oprah’s pro-gay propaganda isn’t limited to her TV show. She uses her magazine as well. A six-page, one-sided narrative about the wonderful world of lesbian love was featured in the March 2009 issue of “O” magazine in a piece titled, “Why Women are Leaving Men for Other Women.”

Oprah sought out to redefine ‘normal’ in a highly anticipated and controversial show in 2008 involving a pregnant “man.”

In April 2008, Oprah interviewed Thomas Beatie, a pregnant transgender “man” who clearly still possessed the reproductive parts of a woman, a truth continually ignored by Oprah throughout the exclusive interview. Beatie and her wife Nancy sought to show the world that they comprised a “normal” couple and Oprah was all too willing to accept and promote the lie that a pregnant “man” and “his wife” are “normal.”

“Yeah,” Winfrey said, “and a new definition of what diversity means for everybody, and redefining normal. And I really applaud you for having the courage to do it.”

I didn’t bring up predestination. You did. I commented that Oprah believes she has joint powers with God.

And FTR, I do believe in predestination. Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ taught it and that’s good enough for me. I don’t need modern CLintonesque “teachers” telling me what the definition of “is” is

Your thread is the only one. It’s only the comment section that is enlarged and huge. Maybe my system is picking up something (code) I don’t know but all the comments are in bold and absolutely huge.

Things that make you go hmmmmmmm
