My mom died when I was 19. My father had died when I was 13. At an early age, I was already confused about who I was and how I felt about others.

My confusion about "desire" and the fact that I noticed I was "attracted" to guys made me put myself into the "gay" category at age 14. At age 20, I came out as gay to everybody else around me.

At age 22, I became an editor of the first magazine aimed at a young, gay male audience. It bordered on pornography in its photographic content, but I figured I could use it as a platform to bigger and better things.

Sure enough, Young Gay America came around. It was meant to fill the void that the other magazine I'd worked for had created – namely, anything not-so-pornographic, aimed at the population of young, gay Americans. Young Gay America took off.

Just my guess here, but I’d be willing to bet that this guy was pushed into the gay lifestyle by the degraded external forces we see operating in the schools and popular culture.

Sounds to me like he was probably always heterosexual. That was the “voice” he kept hearing all those years.

There are numerous cases of men who have abandoned the homosexual lifestyle and become straight. Enough to make a joke of the mantra that "they are born that way." If so, apparently one can change the way he was born.

We need to pray always for these guys and gals who leave the clutches of homosexuality. It looks to me like these folks sometimes have a difficult time transitioning back into heterosexual society, thanks to the contempt of gays and the mistrust of straights.

I’m praying, too, that conservative Christians and Jews can stop the school propaganda that this behavior is just an alternative lifestyle or genetic predisposition.

And I fervently pray that I never have to sit through the funeral of another dear friend caught up in the special hell that is homosexuality. These men and women are so prone to depression, substance abuse, and suicide that if they were any other group, we would be trying to change their lifestyle, not affirm and protect it.
