Demon Flees after Six Long Years
Gospel For Asia ^ | June 22, 2011

Posted on 06/30/2011 6:02:26 PM PDT by wmfights

Sukhra Chauhan was unknowingly possessed by a demon for almost six years. After an arduous search for deliverance, she unexpectedly came to the right place—her relative's house.

Sukhra's torment robbed her entire family of peace. Desperate for a solution to her problems, they spent a lot of money going to magicians who could supposedly heal sicknesses.

None of them could help Sukhra. But when she went to another state for a religious festival, she ended up visiting a relative, a Christian woman who belongs to the congregation of GFA-supported pastor Vibhas Jaiteley. Sukhra's relative realized she was demon possessed and asked her to stay in her home for a few days.

Meanwhile, Vibhas' church members were meeting for a three-day session of fasting and prayer. Sukhra's relative took her to the prayer meeting, where the whole congregation prayed for the demon-possessed woman.

On the third day of the gathering, God freed Sukhra from the demon's grip, and Sukhra decided to follow Jesus!

Sukhra returned home and started attending worship services at a church in her own community. She would appreciate prayer that she continues to grow closer to the Lord and that her family also opens their hearts to His love.

Pastor Vibhas requests prayer that he will witness God's healing of several friends who are suffering from chronic illnesses. Also, pray God will protect and guide Vibhas and provide a church building for his congregation.

Thanks. I didn't see the movie - like I said about knowing the name, it reminded me of that wrong teaching but it was obvious you were speaking about the movie.

you have to believe and have faith or the devil will win.

Right and that Scripture above shows he will win since the evil spirit knows who has the power over him and who doesn't.

Then why are we not raising the dead here?Giving sight to the blind here?Removing demons here?Other than the fakes on tv?Walk with me to a hospital and heal those within.Or is it here,,we have no faith?

RE: The Rite

Though a good movie, for a better, and more accurate, understanding of exorcisms I'd suggest getting/reading the book.

I think you’ve hit on it - at least to some extent. In my experience God works within the framework of one’s understanding (i.e. He meets them where they are.) Those in other countries have very real, palpable experiences with demonic powers. They truly NEED deliverance from them. Not every illness or physical ailment is demonic. God has said “It is appointed unto man once to die and after that the judgment.” Death is not optional. Barring His return first, all flesh will die. While physical healing is wonderful in and of itself (and miraculous healing DOES occur, but most often the physician or medicine gets the credit), the point in this story is that this girl was rid of a demon and came to Christ. It is eternal redemption which concerns God more. She could not come to Christ AND have a demon within her. One precludes the other.

“Demonic possession is REAL. I’ve seen it.”

No doubt you have, one only need look in the mirror to see the “demon” in each and every one of us. “Demons” are proxies that Charismatic types use to attempt to affirm the underlying goodness of mankind - perverted only by “demons” - extrapolated into supposed actual entities, rather than the proxy for man’s wrong doing that “they” are.

There are no demons, yet there are demons within each and every one of us. As I said, look in the mirror, sometimes you’ll find a demon staring back at you.

Exorcisms are not restricted to the Roman-Catholic Church. Though probably more efficacious when performed by a RC priest, since it is, after all, God’s true Church. :^)

That is incorrect as well as not biblical, it’s simply misleading.

Sadly,,I think the real reason,is that people over there believe the Bible,,Take it at its word so to speak. While here we think its all just a nice story, not truly real.I see too many pastors saying its just a story,or only for those times, not for today. That it could be explained away by modern thinking, medicine,or science. We make far too many excuses for not believing.

I am shocked that a Pastor would say anything in the Bible is “just a story”. Guess I shouldn’t be, but I am.

You are right, though. And I have often thought that discounting the miraculous that we see - or crediting a doctor, science, medicine — is part of the reason we don’t see the miraculous for what it is. It’s there, but we don’t recognize it. Not to say that doctors and medicine and science aren’t part of God’s miracles, for I think they are. Not as dramatic, of course, but still.... In a land where demonic activity is strong because Satanic worship is strong, where visions and dreams are relied upon, God deals with people differently.

That is incorrect as well as not biblical, it’s simply misleading.

a) It is irrefutably correct.
b) It is indeed 'Biblical'.
c) If it's correct and Biblical then it cannot be misleading.

Rent/watch ‘The Rite” (which came out in the theaters early this year) with Anthony Hopkins. I had no clue how the movie was made by hellywood but it was as pro-God as it gets, just like The Book of Eli. You have to get the devil’s name or else you cannot cast it out properly...and God kicks demon ass.

yes, it's a good movie.

Fr. Lucas, the Jesuit exorcist is played excellently by Anthony Hopkins. When you need an exorcist, a lay person or a cleric can both drive out demons in the name of Christ, yet we read of St. Justin Martyr in his Second Apology written in the 1st/2nd century

Origen describes the exorcist laying hands on the possesed as does St. Ambrose and they mention that the simple sign of the Cross with the calling on the name of Christ has incredible power against the demons who cannot bear it

There are no demons

Then what did Christ expel? Did He lie? Are the Gospels lies?

Indeed. But the point I was making was drawing a distinction between the knowledge of the [cause of the] problem and experiencing it.

To make a point of it, how do we know it was a demon? It never says in the article. How do we know that this is simply not another Casey Anthony?

I never said that they didn't have good medicine.

The fishy part of this article is that she was in physical torment yet did not seek physical (medical) aid. Methinks that the gullible on this thread are falling for a con job.

I didn’t see anything to indicate possession, in terms of loss of identity, spinning heads or floating in the air. Just that she inexplicably felt like crap all the time. That indidcates to me it wasn’t possession, but oppression.

Then why didn't she consult a medical doctor? That'd be the first action that we would do.

And if they happened to hang out with the Maori or the Bantu, what would they have thought then?

Well, then they would have realized forthwith that pulling the heads off of 13 meerkats would have worked too.

I'll see your 13 meerkats and raise you five kiwis and a platypus.

If it was unknown, why was she searching for deliverance?

Sukhra's torment robbed her entire family of peace.

Then why didn't she seek medical aid for physical torment? That's what you and I would do.
