I had been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter -day Saints for just a few days when I encountered my first experience of anti-Mormon prejudice.
-SNIP-
But youre not Christian and you dont believe in forgiveness. It was not a question, but a declaration, delivered with a finality reminiscent of a judges gavel rendering verdict on a hapless miscreant.
-SNIP-
Mormons do not pretend that their understanding of Christ is identical to that of Christian orthodoxy. We embrace the New Testament and much of what the modern Christian world teaches about the Savior of the world, but we do not stop there. We have a lot more to add about the Son of God, and it is that additional revelation that causes the real rub with some orthodox Christians. To us, however, refusing to accept further enlightenment on the mission of Jesus Christ is like a math teacher telling his or her students they must stop at multiplication tables. No algebra or calculus allowed.
-SNIP-
For those who want to accelerate that process of understanding, our churches are open to all every Sunday. Use the website to find the nearest chapel to you, and feel free to drop by. If you try to track the number of references to Jesus Christ in the service, you may lose count. So just observe the families, listen to the prayers, leaf through the hymn book to see if any of the hymns seem familiar, and make up your own mind as to how Christian our people are. Jesus taught us: By their fruits, ye shall know them.

"Mormons do not pretend that their understanding of Christ is identical to that of Christian orthodoxy.
This is the same old arrogant habit of mormonism of presenting their organization as "special" and better than "Christian Orthodoxy"...and in the same breath condemning with anti-Christian rhetoric the "anti-mormons"
I think they tell you to read something an angel named "Moroni" supposedly said.
What they do is give out those pamphlets showing how “Christian” they are and say “See? We’re Just Like You”
If Two is a number, and One is a number - therefore; Two = One.
They never say “Were Just Like You”.
Ever.
They can’t be.
They are the restored church with all others creeds and religions and abomination that have lived in the dark.
They cannot be equal to others by their doctrine.
Doesn’t make them bad people or us good people.
Just a fact.
Missionaries going to homes to ‘witness’ do say that. They hand out a card that has Christian creeds on it and say that they believe in the same thing. What they don’t do is tell them their re-interpretation of, say, the Trinity according to LDS doctrine.
"You may call yourself whatever you like as long as you wear the undies of white"

Mormonism is the offspring of American evangelicalism. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Restorationism_(Christian_primitivism)
It’s the extreme of what happens when the private interpretation of scripture is taken to its logical extreme.
Watch out! The Marxists want Romney as a candidate. The minute that he is the same Washington Post will be publishing articles about Romney being in the Mormon Church leadership at a time when blacks were not allowed in the priesthood.
That's my prediction. The Post wants Republicans to run a man they think Obama can beat.
Welcome n00b
No, Mormonism is NOT Christianity...
So what? The Koran also includes numerous references to Jesus.
And there's the problem. Mormons think they have the right to add revelation about Jesus.
Funny, the author never gets around to telling us what that additional "revelation" might be.
Not very well.
Go to the link, wintertime...Otterson has a mormon propaganda article in the WAPO nearly every week. I've been wondering if some mormon money hasn't been spread aroud...WAPO and NYT are losing money by the bucketsful. I also wonder if mormon money doesn't think that positive articles will gain new members even if Romney isn't the candidate. It's publicity, after all.
ARE MORMONS CHRISTIAN? MY WITNESS FOR CHRIST
I do not place it out there for arguement or redicule, just as an honest witness of what I believe.
I've been called dishonest, a fraud, a liar, a deciever, participating in some kind of Mormon proganda campaign, etc. for doing so. None of that is true. It is honestly what I believe, and what I have been taugh and teach others who are interested.
Anyhow, I will take one exception with your own statement that we, LDS "cannot be like others." That exception is that we are all (every person who has lived on this earth with the one exception of Jesus Christ Himself) sinners and in need of Christ's atonement.
It is not “anti-Mormon prejudice” to state the truth.
The truth is not “prejudice” (pre - judice).
And stating, accurately, what the LDS teaches about itself cannot be, by definition, “anti-Mormon”.
Besides, Protestants (to whom your barb is aimed) didn't give up the idea of discussing Scripture in groups and praying together.
To a degree putting "interpretations down on paper" and then demanding they be used in every analysis as the only official answer is a bit extreme don't you think? Burning those who disagree at the stake is certainly beyond the pale.
“Are, Too”! With no back-up.
