Purgatory is more works based heresy, it denies Christ and His gift of salvation. It mocks the death of Christ Who paid for our sins by saying more than Christ and His cross are needed, we must earn our salvation.
It is also a big money maker for the RCC.
Purgatory is a doctrine of satan.

Just asking but didn’t this come out of some verse in Maccabees? And during the Middle Ages people could pay their relatives out of Purgatory? When Jesus died He descended into Hell, not Purgatory. Just a clueless wondering.

Catholics who believe a purifying fire will purge away their sins are deluded victims of a fatal fabrication.
Our sins our purged by IHS and by Him alone. HOWEVER, because he wants us to be free and rational creatures, He invites our willing participation in purging some effects of the sin he purged.
This evidently being a distinction too fine for the bludgeon this writer uses on us, I see no good purpose in continuing with his screed.
What an awful lie perpetrated on people who genuinely think they are going to be saved. I shudder to think of the punishment for people who perpetuate and defend the lie of purgatory.
The Catholic teaching on purgatory is that it has nothing to do with eternal fate. One’s eternal fate is settled when one dies believing in salvation by God’s grace alone and sorry for one’s sins or the opposite. Those who reject God, whoi refuse to repent, go to hell, not purgatory. No one is in Purgatory who will not end up in heaven. It has nothing to do with anxiety over going to hell. Everyone in Purgatory knows he will go to heaven. Period.

Oh, look: God is a "consuming fire," when you draw close to him your sins are burned away. Latin theologians called this "purgatory". Gendron calls it a "fabrication".
