Actually, the quote was from metmom’s earlier post. I’m certain that metmom has tried to educate her, but people who support Obama seem to suffer from a peculiar disability which prevents them from connecting the dots.

Apparently the government not having any right to tell people what to do is more important to her than the abortion issue.
There is no reason to get hostile and personal over the simple facts of the Catholic vote.
I hope that Catholics are on the right side of the culture war this time, and for the second time in history, vote against an incumbent Democrat President, by voting against Obama”s reelection.

The fact that those who at least somewhat practice Catholicism (those who go to church weekly) vote more conservatively than non-practicing Catholics blows that whole theory to pieces.
Not really, we can assume that people going to church regularly are just naturally going to be a little more conservative than people who don’t on average, some of that would be mere nature, but for Catholics, that group of devout Catholics are not exactly what the media would label right wing, or ultra conservative.
Even devout Catholics seem to be pretty moderate.
Because they are more religious and their religious beliefs influence them to become more conservative. That is exactly what happens with Catholics.
Partly because of nature, that is why we can assume that Arugula eaters are more healthy than none Arugula eaters, but the main point is that even the minority of Catholics who vote Republican, are mostly moderates.
Even the more conservative elements of the Catholic church goers are less conservative for some reason, since Catholics are a liberal voting block, and even the Catholics who vote Republican are soft conservatives, we have to assume that it has something to do with being Catholic, something that Catholic culture and teachings is creating among Catholics.
As a conservative Catholic these questions should be extremely important to you, I would think that conservative Catholics talk about this all the time, but it seems they don’t at all.

No, it's quite asinine to think that Catholicism causes Catholic voters to become more liberal, since weekly Mass attending Catholics are more conservative than non-practicing Catholics.
The more likely reason is that Catholics settled more in northeastern and midwestern urban areas, which are bastions of liberalism.
If I liked the way Catholics vote, I guess I would be bending over backwards to prevent any question of it, but I don’t like the way Catholics vote, and I am disappointed to see how soft even the right side of the Catholic vote is.
The percentage of Catholics voting for big government is only going to grow in future elections. 54% of Catholics voting for Obama will be considered a low figure in the coming decades.
