If it wasn’t for converts and reverts a Kennedy might have become pope.
i love conversion stories.....i recall when the Surprised By Truth, by Patrick Madrid, came out, i read it cover to cover many times....and was amazed at how many protestants end up seeing the same problems with their former faith....
i also recall reading, or hearing about how there was going to be counter-books showing the conversions to protestantism from catholicism.....and that would show those darn catholics....nvr saw anything more of that....not sure if they ever got published, or if they did, anyone actually bought one....
and certainly, they had nothing close to the effect Patrick’s book did.
So now, i guess our separated brethern can call this former minister a loser, who simply doesnt get the bible, etc, etc...shame...
All these words about a supposed conversion and yet not one mention of “Jesus”.
This tells me all I need to know.
Well... you definitely don’t want to read this.
III. Christ Jesus — “Mediator and Fullness of All Revelation”
http://www.vatican.va/archive/ENG0015/__PH.HTM
The birth of our first child forced my wife and me to think about life without Faith and we decided that we needed to get back to practicing our religion or give it up, and we couldn't face life {or death} without Faith.
I know you can't force people to believe, but I really feel sorry for folks that reject God.
Sounds to me like this fellow was so scared of our sinful society that he chose to run and hide rather than seek srength from Lord to fight the good fight.
To each his own.
“Well... you definitely dont want to read this.”
Sort of misses the point.
I am amazed that a man can right an article about his “conversion” and yet never mention Jesus. That tells me he simply traded one “religious” culture for another.
People who truly encounter Jesus often want to speak of nothing else but him.
This man seem overjoyed to sift through Catholic minutia.
aaaah, i see the typical protestant replies....i could just feel them coming.....
Wow. That is an exact quote from the conversation Mrs. Reo and I had just before plunging into the waters of the Tiber 18 years ago. And we, too, are "amazed at Gods kindness to (us) that (we) get to be Catholic."
Standing on the banks of the Tiber contemplating a swim? Come on in, the water's fine!
Perhaps he had already encountered Jesus. Perhaps it was his very relationship with Jesus which led him to search for truth.
If this was a conversion from paganism or atheism to Christianity, then I would agree with you. In that case, a man would go from unbelief to belief. From darkness to light. From ignorance of Jesus to faith in Jesus.
However, this man was already a believer. He likely already accepted the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the reality of heaven, hell and the Holy Trinity. He was looking for the fullness of truth.
What, exactly, does this mean to a RC?
Where's Rule #3?
God bless you both.
Guess they didn’t see that it was “Installment One.”
Oh, well, their loss.
The fact is... Catholic & Protestant... we share Jesus, and the catechism has some wonderful things in it about Jesus.
If you believe in the Church Jesus founded... that is far from minutia.
I would still invite you to read the Catechism as it relates to Jesus. You might be very surprised by what you see.
Thanks for posting this.
Hope to see the next installment...
“Standing on the banks of the Tiber contemplating a swim? “
Better to swim the Jordan.
