Time Magazine Op-Ed: Perhaps “Some Time in Jail” for Catholic Bishops Defending Religious Liberty
Catholic Vote.org ^ | 2/23/12 | John Powers

Nothing defines a modern liberal better than a opportunity to deny fundamental rights to political opponents. Case in point, a Time Magazine Ideas! Blogger Erika Christakis has some rather aggressive ones directed at Catholic Bishops

Let’s see what our society would look like if we all had the luxury of imposing our unfettered will. At a minimum, the Catholic bishops and employers resisting contraceptive coverage should be willing to pay for the care of all those unwanted children. Or perhaps they’d be willing to spend some time in jail in protest. At my taxpaying expense, of course.

Christakis, who claims some rather tenuous connections to Harvard (she is sort of Room-Mom) tells us that “Our social contract requires that we must occasionally stomach government policies that offend and outrage us”, so her suggestion…take the bait and suffer the moral consequences, or else go to jail.

Actually, some of them should have been thrown in Jail years ago for urging illegal aliens to break the US laws, and also using Catholic churches as Sanctuary for these law breakers!!

“Our social contract requires that we must occasionally stomach government policies that offend and outrage us”,

Totalitarian mindset in action. Rousseau has so much to answer for.

“Our social contract requires that we must stomach government policies that offend and outrage us”

This ignorant parasite doesn’t understand that we pay for the government and we shouldn’t have to put up with things that offend and outrage us. We do not have a totalitarian system yet. Though it is rapidly approaching. We need to get these parasites out of government and return sanity to our country.

I think this idiot skank has stumbled onto something. I would like to see Catholic bishops, and protestant clergy as well, engage in civil disobedience of the law and allow themselves to be jailed.

The spectacle of classic "prisoners of conscience" in the USA of Obama 2012 would be intensely educational to the ignorant liberal masses, and make for fascinating twists and turns by the whorehouse media covering the events.

>>“Our social contract requires that we must occasionally stomach government policies that offend and outrage us”,

Then our social contract is wrong. The government should fight the wars, sign the treaties, build some roads to promote commerce between the states, defend the borders, etc. That is the Constitutional contract. A government that doesn’t interfere with a person’s life cannot offend and outrage. Their “social contract” is taken right out of the pages of Marx.

She sounds a lot like the people who jailed Dr. King.

Just to make the libs' heads explode, put them in the cell where Martin Luther King was held in Birmingham.

I hate when people steal my ideas from out of my head and post them first. :-)

I don’t recall signing any “social contract”.

Her tax paying expense? Before he was sent to Rome for two months. My Pastor had to file his Income Taxes early. That's right. He's not just a Priest. He's an EMPLOYEE of the Archdiocese of Boston and gets a W-2 every year. Cardinal Law belongs is a Franciscan and takes no salary.

Totalitarian mindset in action. Rousseau has so much to answer for.

Does he ever. History is replete with examples of how savages, once given power, grow less "noble" and ever more savage. The idea of a "social compact" is one alien to natural law and to the inalienable human rights that flow from such law, because it is based upon a false notion of the proper relationship between man and government.

The central legitimate purpose of government is to protect liberty, not to engender its sacrifice. But when human sacrifice, rather than liberty becomes a nation's highest value, the State may command the obedience of all, even to the greatest of evils, and deny to each even the smallest virtue.

The whorehouse media wouldn’t cover it, just like the Nazi propagandists didn’t cover the Holocaust. It was a state-run media then, and it is a state-run media now. Literally. That is a factual statement; it’s been accomplished through threats.

The German people were subject to the methodology of a cult and that is how the Nazis were able to achieve the results they did. America is now subject - literally - to the same cultic methodology and the only thing standing in the way of Obama’s ability to achieve the same kind of cultic results is the ability of you and me to get the word out without media arms. When the internet and social media are taken away from us - as they will be - that will remove the last obstacle.
