The Living Christ: The Testimony of the Apostles [Mormon]
Mormon Newsroom ^

Posted on 03/10/2012 10:25:58 AM PST by greyfoxx39

As we commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ two millennia ago, we offer our testimony of the reality of His matchless life and the infinite virtue of His great atoning sacrifice. None other has had so profound an influence upon all who have lived and will yet live upon the earth.

He was the Great Jehovah of the Old Testament, the Messiah of the New. Under the direction of His Father, He was the creator of the earth. “All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made” (John 1:3). Though sinless, He was baptized to fulfill all righteousness. He “went about doing good” (Acts 10:38), yet was despised for it. His gospel was a message of peace and goodwill. He entreated all to follow His example. He walked the roads of Palestine, healing the sick, causing the blind to see, and raising the dead. He taught the truths of eternity, the reality of our premortal existence, the purpose of our life on earth, and the potential for the sons and daughters of God in the life to come.

He instituted the sacrament as a reminder of His great atoning sacrifice. He was arrested and condemned on spurious charges, convicted to satisfy a mob, and sentenced to die on Calvary’s cross. He gave His life to atone for the sins of all mankind. His was a great vicarious gift in behalf of all who would ever live upon the earth.

We solemnly testify that His life, which is central to all human history, neither began in Bethlehem nor concluded on Calvary. He was the Firstborn of the Father, the Only Begotten Son in the flesh, the Redeemer of the world.

He rose from the grave to “become the firstfruits of them that slept” (1 Corinthians 15:20). As Risen Lord, He visited among those He had loved in life. He also ministered among His “other sheep” (John 10:16) in ancient America. In the modern world, He and His Father appeared to the boy Joseph Smith, ushering in the long-promised “dispensation of the fulness of times” (Ephesians 1:10).

Of the Living Christ, the Prophet Joseph wrote:

“His eyes were as a flame of fire; the hair of his head was white like the pure snow; his countenance shone above the brightness of the sun; and his voice was as the sound of the rushing of great waters, even the voice of Jehovah, saying:

“I am the first and the last; I am he who liveth, I am he who was slain; I am your advocate with the Father” (D&C 110:3–4).

Of Him the Prophet also declared: “And now, after the many testimonies which have been given of him, this is the testimony, last of all, which we give of him: That he lives!

“For we saw him, even on the right hand of God; and we heard the voice bearing record that he is the Only Begotten of the Father—

“That by him, and through him, and of him, the worlds are and were created, and the inhabitants thereof are begotten sons and daughters unto God” (D&C 76:22–24).

We declare in words of solemnity that His priesthood and His Church have been restored upon the earth—“built upon the foundation of … apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone” (Ephesians 2:20).

We testify that He will someday return to earth. “And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together” (Isaiah 40:5). He will rule as King of Kings and reign as Lord of Lords, and every knee shall bend and every tongue shall speak in worship before Him. Each of us will stand to be judged of Him according to our works and the desires of our hearts.

We bear testimony, as His duly ordained Apostles—that Jesus is the Living Christ, the immortal Son of God. He is the great King Immanuel, who stands today on the right hand of His Father. He is the light, the life, and the hope of the world. His way is the path that leads to happiness in this life and eternal life in the world to come. God be thanked for the matchless gift of His divine Son.

Romney is not going to run roughshod over the Constitution the way the current Marxist-in-Chief is doing.
_______________________________________________

No kid hes not...

Willie Mitty has more in store for the Constitution..

hes not going to merely run over it..

Hes going to destroy it..

and take out the gains we’ve had in the last 180 years and “restore” it back to slavery days..even pre-Revolution days with him as king..

Mormon bishop and high priest and Willie Mitty has a whole other agenda to destroy America...

Besides being king of America and prophet-in-Chief and president-for-life

BTW the Mormon pope is called a prophet..

and hes the Mormon “president-for-life”

Since Smith had fourteen versions of the first vision, which one did these men swear to?

“We have ONLY the words of Joseph Smith and these so-called “apostles” of the mormon church that God and Jesus appeared to Smith”

Wrong, you also have several million members of the LDS who know and testify that Joseph Smith saw Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I’m one of them.

” Joey Smith got himself killed by angry men he had abused..”

Wrong, Joseph Smith “abused” angry men by teaching the truth, they couldn’t handle the truth, and in their jealous rages, murdered he and two other good men. Interesting that anger comes from the Devil, as does dis-obeying the Law of God, as revealed in the Ten Commandments. If those men were “abused” being the good Christians they professed to be, they should have turned the other cheek. Yea, spilling innocent blood, men who were in a prison, being protected by armed guards, yea, those poor abused angry men .... I feel their pain...... NOT

“If God evolved, Moroni and Mormon are wrong. If God didn’t evolve, the KFD and Joseph Smith is wrong. Which is it? “

You are.

Were you there?? If not, then you don’t know anything, you can only feel it.

There is nothing in the Bible that says we are to pray to know if something is true. The whole concept of praying to gain a ‘testimony’ is unbiblical.’

However, sing your logic there are many more who “KNOW” that Joseph Smith DID NOT see God and Christ. Many of us recognize that if he saw anything (since all the accounts of the first vision contradict each other) it was demons and not God at all.

I encourage all Mormons to stop relying on their feelings, look at the facts and leave the lies of Mormonism that are dragging them to a very real Hell.

Would Romney be any better than Obama? Only a total moron would not know the answer to that.

You are correct, which is why only Morons vote for Romney. Romney is a pale version of Obama no different.

I can’t imagine a Christian even thinking of voting for a man who claims the same office that belongs only to Christ - eg a High Priest after the order of Melchizedek. Talk about ARROGANCE!!

You don’t know much about what really happened do you? Smith was threatening and tried to kill William Law and Sidney Rigdon for exposing his practice of polygamy after he publicly denied it.

Smith died in a gunfight, not as a martyr. Martyrs don’t fight back.

Regarding your comment : “Interesting that anger comes from the Devil” again that is a lie Mormon leaders tell the membership. Jesus got angry, if anger (or even uncomfortable feelings) only comes from the devil then Jesus sinned and Christians know He never sinned.

ROFL. Smith was FAR FAR from innocent. I do not condone his lynching, however it is not as the LDS paint it - a martyrdom of an innocent man.

The truth is out there if you really want it.

FOF is completely accurate and correct in his question. The Book of Mormon contradicts the later teachings of the LDS church, mostly because when Smith wrote the BoM he had yet to develop LDS theology and most of the BoM was plagiarized from a couple of books, local folklore and the Bible.

Actually there is a scripture about anger..

in the Christian Bible...

The God of the Christians tells us to get angry but sin not...Ephesians 4:26

I guess the gods on mormonism have another opinion...

Personally I could care less what Joey Smith says a golden idol says about anger...

after all it was the mormon jesus who got anger and killed thousands of people...

Oh dear the devil made him do it...

Sorry...YR...but we don't even have firsthand eyewitness testimony to what you say...

Don't just believe me. Pull out the First Vision official eyewitness testimony in your Pearl of Great Price (Joseph Smith - History)...read it all...you won't find a single attribution to Jesus...or God...

There's only one reference there to one entity calling the other his "son"...we don't know who they are...They are nameless entities...
