Are Mitt Romney’s Mormon beliefs something we should worry about?
Charlotte City Buzz Examiner (Examiner.com) ^ | March 21, 2012 | Robert Tilford

Posted on 03/22/2012 7:53:18 AM PDT by Colofornian

Mormons are not Christians in the traditional sense. They hold queer beliefs that would shock many people. Some of these beliefs are downright racist and have some black leaders in Charlotte, N.C. very worried what could happen if Romney manages to get elected as President of the United States. Mormon literature says "dark skinned people" are from "the seed of Cain." "According to this doctrine, it is forbidden to have “interracial marriages” with black people and those that do, will be “cursed” …

Their doctrine said the Negro race is cursed as we come from “the seed of Cain."

Yet Romney has said he is proud of his Mormon faith. "I am very proud of my faith and the faith of my fathers," Romney said. "Well, it's true and I love my faith. And I will… distance myself in any way from my faith."

WE SHOULD QUESTION CANDIDATES RELIGIOUS BELIEFS

Bill McKeever, founder of Mormonism Research Ministry, a Evangelical Christian ministry challenging the claims of Mormonism, said "people need to ask themselves if Romney's Mormonism will affect them personally, and if so, in what way."

McKeever said it is not rare for Mormons to excuse the comments of their past leaders by classifying them as "speculation or opinion."

"To imply that the ban on blacks holding the priesthood was mere ‘policy' is also misleading," McKeever said.

Jabriel Ballentine, seminarian at Virginia Theological Seminary, said “everyone should question the beliefs of all the candidates”.

"We might not agree with all of the beliefs of any candidate. However, we must pay attention to the implications of one enacting their beliefs," Ballentine said.

SNIP

...The Mormons famously put their heresy this way: “As man is now, God once was. As God is now, man may become.”

That 'experience' has led me to believe we have no reason to fear that Romney’s religion shall harm us.

....Eve thought the very same thing in the garden.... the enemy of men's souls STILL presents himself as an angel of light.

....You haven't eaten the apple yet....but you're about to.

Let's put it this way: Does a Mormon believe that if an unbelievers don't convert to Mormonism, they should be KILLED?

Let's put it this way: The very first Sept. 11 terrorist massacre in this country didn't occur in 2001...'twas 1857...where 120 innocent children and their unarmed parents (most from Arkansas) were slaughtered at point-blank range in Southern Utah. (May I suggest you rent the DVD, September Dawn)

Who were among these key Mormons who led the slaughter?

* Lds Stake President Isaac Haight. Convicted? (Not on your life)

* Counselor to Lds Stake President Haight, John Mount Higbee. Convicted? (Not on your life)

* Parowan Stake President William Horne Dame. Convicted? (Not on your life; in fact, his stake presidency came after the massacre!)

* Lds bishop Philip Klingensmith. Convicted? (Not on your life)

* Future Lds bishop William Edwards. Convicted? (Not on your life; in fact, his bishop role came after the massacre!)

* Lds bishop John D. Lee. Convicted? (Yes...and the ONLY man so convicted -- and hung)

The Mormons covered it up so that NONE -- minus Lee decades later -- would be held responsible.

If you had neighbors who wouldn't dare hurt a fly, but would cover up mass murder...would that somehow make you feel better 'bout them?

So...please 'xplain the difference...
...tween those who would slaughter
....and those who cover up the slaughter...
...or who cover up the "cover-uppers"...

Because you'll find a number of contemporary Mormon leaders in that last category or two!

Sure! Do you have anything positive to say about whatever religion you happen to be?

Have you EVER said anything "positive" 'bout the religious convictions of the Flying Inmans? (Or is your Q meant to be a one-way street?)

All Newt needs to do is get to the convention....and to qualify himself to be heard and elected. Three more states would do the trick but he has a tough haul doing so with the media pounding it’s a two man race only....however Newt is still getting press even if as the ‘wild card”...especially to those who know better than to underestimate Newts manuvers.

Go Newt Go!!! Convention here we come!

What a mess! I’ve been listening to the democratic pundits and they have a right to find this whole primary “entertaining” to them. Between Santorum and Romney they both are a far from “speaking” with any conviction of what they are saying...only because it’s not about the country...it’s about their win.........Unfortunately too many people have “itchy” ears...and so they scratch them for them.

The 7 Laws of Noah are for Gentiles. The 10 Commandments of Moses are for Jews.

(I guess what you're indirectly claiming is that coveting was only a Jewish problem, eh?)

people need to ask themselves if Romney's Mormonism will affect them personally, and if so, in what way

We could always ask Massachusetts residents how Romney's Mormonism actually affected them personally. But I don't think you'd find much ammunition there, eh what??

Religious convictions? Honestly, I’ve never seen a thread of yours along those lines. I have no clue what religion you actually are. I assumed you are one of the yopios, and not a member of an organized religion such as Roman Catholic.

It’s a mess alright. Coupled with the belief that 9/11 was our final wake-up call. And we failed. That is why I don’t even bother with the political side of FR anymore. We have ONE calling, one commission, 2 Cor. 5:14-21. IMHO. And I wish it were different, but I don’t think it is.

A great question! The 7 “commandments” includes the prohibition against theft. “Covet” actually means to plan to steal something, so it is included within that.

Here’s a little trivia for you. Did you know that in 1991 the Congress actually put something in a bill declaring that the Noahide Laws as the bedrock of our great nation? See if you agree:

Whereas Congress recognizes the historical tradition of ethical values and principles which are the basis of civilized society and upon which our great Nation was founded;

Whereas these ethical values and principles have been the bedrock of society from the dawn of civilization, when they were known as the Seven Noahide Laws;

I do not expect him

You start out wrong, you end up wrong with a LIAR!

I expect OUR SIDE to hold him to Conservative principles

You can't be serious, they support him and thus his liberals values - pro homo, pro abortion, anti-traditional marriage, appointing liberal judges, big gov't socialism healthcare, weak on 2nd adm and gun issues!

They are apart of the GOP E or they are out or shunned! The GOP E and the 'rat party are ONE except for voting time where they disguised themselves into TWO!

The 'anyone but barry' mantra was designed for him!! They wanted to instill that in voters - to let it be their mindset!

What has he accomplished FOR America?

We know what he has promoted and pass through - the homo agenda, the anti-traditional marriage agenda, the big gov’t socialistic healthcare, appointed liberal judges.

And he’s a KNOWN LIAR - is that part of his ‘faith’ - to be allowed to lie likes he breathes?

(Oh, yes, Mr. Valiant Mitt went to bat for monogamy when same-sex "marriage" was passed on his watch, eh? ... And some would say he had a stronger role in ensuring SSM passed)

I’ll post this for the lurkers since your Comparative Religions knowledge is limited to whatever is in your cut-n-paste slush pile.

I wondered who has been rooting around in my library.

That’s pretty much all the God of Abraham had to say on the matter.

The MORMONs have a Book of ABRAHAM.

Have you read it?

So; if it hadn't been for the JEWS; we GENTILES would NOT know about these 7 laws; eh?
