The Reflections of Brigham Young on the Nature of Man and the State [What Mitt's profs taught him]
BYU Studies ^ | 1962 | J. Keith Melville

Posted on 07/05/2012 7:41:04 PM PDT by Colofornian

The pre-mortal period is a period of organization, growth, and purposeful development...This organization of the spirits from the "intelligence" which is co-eternal with God is for the express purpose of exaltation, to become "Gods like himself..."...

...Brigham Young said:...The Lord has organized mankind for the purpose of increasing in that intelligence and truth...until he is capable of creating worlds on worlds, and becoming gods...Believing that "the power of choice of all intelligent inherit from the Gods of eternity...is innate."...

...Complete independence of action is an attribution of deity, and only those most valiant during their probation on earth who will be crowned as gods in the Celestial Kingdom will be unfettered.

Mormonism discovered in the individual a god in embryo: a being whose essence is progression and whose eternal existence as an intelligence demands freedom...

...From the human position he pragmatically accepted the constitutional justification of slavery. He also justified Negro servitude as a penalty resulting from the violation of the cosmic system of law. He believed that the curse began with Cain because Cain denied Abel his earthly posterity. Instead of killing Cain, the Lord placed a mark on him and his posterity, withholding the priesthood from the negroes until "all the other descendants of Adam have received the promises and enjoyed the blessings of the priesthood thereof." This curse was perpetuated through the lineage of Ham into the post-diluvian period, and Brigham Young accepted the additional curse of Ham's posterity to be the "servants of servants" until God decrees elsewise...

Can you imagine what kind of horrible things a student like Romney had to write in his blue book essay exams to pass his courses at BYU?

- - - - - -
Actually I can. When I was at BYU, I got kicked out of one class for explaining to the teacher that he confused the Immaculate conception and perpetual virginity of Mary in his diatribe against the Catholics (the professor was Roger Keller who is still there IIRC).

I also got a C- on a decent paper for insisting that God was Omnipotent, Omnipresent and Omniscient (class was Topics in LDS Theology) because I ‘strayed from the topic’ which was why God was none of those things. I later showed a paper to another professor at MBI and he told me I was an “A” paper in his opinion.

BYU is designed to find spouses and brainwash, nothing else.

Freepers, we have a commie/Muzzie to defeat.

Theological disputations, no matter how much fun they may be, will not keep commies away.

Don’t be distracted by Leftard media created Straw Dogs.

Christians, we have a Deceiving MORMON to defeat.

Theological disputations, no matter how much work they may involve, will rescue some from the BIG LIE that calls itself MORMONism.

Don’t be distracted by MORMON 'apologists' trying to conjure up a big COMMUNIST boogieman!!!

"‘hate Romney because he’s a Mormon’ written all over it from Freerepublic."

When he hates infidels more than he loves his children, a Muslim can send his children off to be suicide bombers.

When he hates Mormons more than he loves his country, a Freeper can send his children off to vote for Obama.

No sense arguing with them, unless you can pay them more than John Podesta.

No sense arguing with them, unless you can do better than any other MORMONs have done in the past.

Better just to be above it all and dismiss them with a wave of the Imperial Hand.

Would you even be posting LDS opposition threads if Milt was not running?

I think you know the answer to this already; as YOU used to be one who participatged quite well in exposing the HERESY that is MORMONism.

You have to just love these tolerant MORMONs.

Questions put to Joseph Smith: "'Do you believe the Bible?' [Smith:]'If we do, we are the only people under heaven that does, for there are none of the religious sects of the day that do'. When asked 'Will everybody be damned, but Mormons'? [Smith replied] 'Yes, and a great portion of them, unless they repent, and work righteousness." (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 119).
Joseph Smith: "for the teachers of religion of the different sects understood the same passages of scripture so differently as to destroy all confidence in settling the question by an appeal to the Bible" (from Pearl of Great Price 1:12). "What is it that inspires professors of Christianity generally with a hope of salvation? It is that smooth, sophisticated influence of the devil, by which he deceives the whole world" (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p.270).

Brigham Young stated this repeatedly: "When the light came to me I saw that all the so-called Christian world was grovelling in darkness" (Journal of Discourses 5:73); "The Christian world, so-called, are heathens as to the knowledge of the salvation of God" (Journal of Discourses 8:171); "With a regard to true theology, a more ignorant people never lived than the present so-called Christian world" (Journal of Discourses 8:199); "And who is there that acknowledges [God's] hand? ...You may wander east, west, north, and south, and you cannot find it in any church or government on the earth, except the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints" (Journal of Discourses , vol. 6, p.24); "Should you ask why we differ from other Christians, as they are called, it is simply because they are not Christians as the New Testament defines Christianity" (Journal of Discourses 10:230).

Orson Pratt proclaimed: "Both Catholics and Protestants are nothing less than the 'whore of Babylon' whom the Lord denounces by the mouth of John the Revelator as having corrupted all the earth by their fornications and wickedness. Any person who shall be so corrupt as to receive a holy ordinance of the Gospel from the ministers of any of these apostate churches will be sent down to hell with them, unless they repent" (The Seer, p. 255).

Orson Pratt also said: "This great apostasy commenced about the close of the first century of the Christian era, and it has been waxing worse and worse from then until now" (Journal of Discourses
, vol.18, p.44) and: "But as there has been no Christian Church on the earth for a great many centuries past, until the present century, the people have lost sight of the pattern that God has given according to which the Christian Church should be established, and they have denominated a great variety of people Christian Churches, because they profess to be ...But there has been a long apostasy, during which the nations have been cursed with apostate churches in great abundance" (Journal of Discourses , 18:172).

President John Taylor stated: "Christianity...is a perfect pack of nonsense...the devil could not invent a better engine to spread his work than the Christianity of the nineteenth century." (Journal of Discourses , vol. 6, p.167); "Where shall we look for the true order or authority of God? It cannot be found in any nation of Christendom." (Journal of Discourses , 10:127).

James Talmage said: "A self-suggesting interpretation of history indicates that there has been a great departure from the way of salvation as laid down by the Savior, a universal apostasy from the Church of Christ". (A Study of the Articles of Faith, p.182).

President Joseph Fielding Smith said: "Doctrines were corrupted, authority lost, and a false order of religion took the place of the gospel of Jesus Christ, just as it had been the case in former dispensations, and the people were left in spiritual darkness." (Doctrines of Salvation, p.266). "For hundreds of years the world was wrapped in a veil of spiritual darkness, until there was not one fundamental truth belonging to the place of salvation ...Joseph Smith declared that in the year 1820 the Lord revealed to him that all the 'Christian' churches were in error, teaching for commandments the doctrines of men" (Doctrines of Salvation, vol. 3, p.282).

More recent statements by apostle Bruce McConkie are also very clear: "Apostasy was universal...And this darkness still prevails except among those who have come to a knowledge of the restored gospel" (Doctrines of Salvation, vol 3, p.265); "Thus the signs of the times include the prevailing apostate darkness in the sects of Christendom and in the religious world in general" (The Millennial Messiah, p.403); "a perverted Christianity holds sway among the so-called Christians of apostate Christendom" (Mormon Doctrine, p.132); "virtually all the millions of apostate Christendom have abased themselves before the mythical throne of a mythical Christ whom they vainly suppose to be a spirit essence who is incorporeal uncreated, immaterial and three-in-one with the Father and Holy Spirit" (Mormon Doctrine, p.269); "Gnosticism is one of the great pagan philosophies which antedated Christ and the Christian Era and which was later commingled with pure Christianity to form the apostate religion that has prevailed in the world since the early days of that era." (Mormon Doctrine, p.316).

President George Q. Cannon said: "After the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was organized, there were only two churches upon the earth. They were known respectively as the Church of the Lamb of God and Babylon. The various organizations which are called churches throughout Christendom, though differing in their creeds and organizations, have one common origin. They all belong to Babylon" (Gospel Truth, p.324).

President Wilford Woodruff stated: "the Gospel of modern Christendom shuts up the Lord, and stops all communication with Him. I want nothing to do with such a Gospel, I would rather prefer the Gospel of the dark ages, so called" (Journal of Discourses , vol. 2, p.196).

Office of First President & Living Prophet®:

July 1st, 2012

URGENT!

Fellow MORMON Freeper Christians!!

Due to the lack of results with those Thorn's in our Flesh on FR with our STANDARD array of insults; we've come up with:

      You're a Commie Obama supporter!

That will SURELY get those Hateful Bigots to back off of us and DEFEND themselves!    Use it as often as possible!

Remember to stick to CONSERVATISM (you can even rag on Mitt, if you want - it makes your message seem more authentic that way.)

As always,
Tommy M.

I doubt there are many Mormons on Free Republic. With all the bashing it’d be akin to the self-hating Jews who inhabit DU and my guess is that Mormon’s are a little less inclined to be so unstable.

You seem to forget this is the religion forum. On the political forums such mantras are appropriate. Twisting the religion forum to serve the hate Romney mantra is ... well, it’s unseemly at Freerepublic. Some have succeeded in blurring the differences in forums (example: twisting the religion forum to serve the political hate Romney mantra) into a hate Romney site, and that’s not what I thought Freerepublic was all about over the years. But then you knew that yet you try to blur the message you know I’m trying to send. I am certain you now the message I’m seeking to send because I explained it to you in freepmail, so this faux confusion is suspect.

The 'we' is in reference to The Flying INmans, a group to which I once belonged ta FR. We did a lot of work to dig into MormonISM, the Doctrines and Covenant, the JOurnal of Discourses, the Book of Mormon, the Pearl of Great Price. For years this group has been exposing the clear heresies and blasphemies inherent in the ISM. I'll give you an example at the end of this post.

Since Milt Rominy (it rhymes with hominy, the tatseless corn product) appears to be the nominee of the republican party, oppsing little barry bastard commie in the general election, a subtle but now obvious change in use of the Religion forum and the material amassed to expose the ISM has arisen, where the previous 'campaign' was about opposing the ISM but is now twsited to be used solely to attack Romney, and occasionally to impugn Mormons, the adherents to the ISM. The adherents are not our enemy, well, not in the past, because they are duped by a cult. But this distinction has been blurred for exploitative purposes and those dedicated to exposing the ISM have been duped into serving a political agenda using the religion forum.

Here's an example dug fromt he pages of the LDS inc JOurnal of Discourses, which clearly illustrates why the ISM is anit-Christian ... and I sincerely hope you see why this is not a Christian perspective being taught by the LDS inc leadership when this was collected into their precious Jof D:

"We may talk of men being redeemed by the efficacy of his [Christ's] blood; but the truth is that that blood has no efficacy to wash away our sins. That must depend upon our own action." [ LDS Apostle Amasa M. Lyman, Journal of Discourses, Vol. 7, p. 299, 1859]

I doubt it is "faux" confusion. Your explanations to me in Freepmail left me more confused about your positions than before.

The 'we' is in reference to The Flying INmans, a group to which I once belonged ta FR.

At least, you've publicly admitted what we have suspected - you mentally checked out awhile ago (and I do mean that in two senses).

twisted to serve the political hate...

Wow. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. How ironic is it when someone who constantly uses the phrase "little barry bastard commie" lectures others on political hatred? Perhaps, MHG, your hatred of Obama is clouding your judgment? Isn't possible that your accusations against the Flying Inmans are simply projections of your own internal turmoil? When a person is approached by several friends, it would be wise to listen.

Normally, I would raise those points with another FReeper through private mail rather than on the public forum but last time I contacted you, I was given this snarky response:

Bewarry [sic] of those who would write private messages maligning fellow Freepers, for that is the club mentality which runs on pernicious pride and ego needs.
