Featured Term (selected at random):
A term derived from the Russian bolshinstvo (majority) and originally used to designate the radical left among the Communists. The professed aim of Bolshevism is the overthrow of existing governments and the substitution of Communism under the dictatorship of the proletariat. It has been several times condemned by name in papal documents. Pope Pius XI declared, "We have exposed the errors and the violent deceptive tactics of Bolshevistic and atheistic Communism" (encyclical Divini Redemptoris, III, 25).

bolshinstvo (majority)
Is "99%" a majority?
Is there anything new under the sun?
The bolsheviks were never a popular majority in Russia. The word derives from a factional majority in one congress of an unpopular party. Like anything else with them, their self-designation is a lie.
The 99.999% majorities the Communist party received after all opposition was destroyed is not what gave them this term, and would have been a meaningless “majority” if it were.
You get that, right?
About the Occupiers, I’d say that their philosophy is nowhere near even simple majority, but they derive the slogan “we’re 99%” from the statistical fact that 99% of Americans have incomes less than the Wall Street; the latter probably is true.
Yes, there is a similarity. The Communist Party always had the fall-back position that, although hundreds of thousands workers and peasants were in armed rebellion against them in 1920’s and millions volunteered for Wehrmacht in 1941-1945 to rid Russia of Communism, they somehow “represent” the working class.
I'm no expert on bolshevism, but I'd be paying attention for signs of neo-bolshevism.
We are surrounded by communist rhetoric and tactics. Maybe they're too ubiquitous for you to notice.
But hey, that just makes you on par with the Church fathers, who have clearly not noticed it mingling with them from the seminary to the rectory to the bingo hall.
And as soon as that happened, they went right on infiltrating the Church.
Why, I agree with you. The Left existed before Russian Bolsheviks and it is afoot both in secular America and in the Church today. Satan knows who his enemies are.
