There is NO trinity, but metaphors. Read again with discernment.

If the words of a created being, Dorothy Sayers, are to be disregarded, then logically I must disregard your words, for you, too, are a created being.

I understand your post, but right now our main goal is to get Obama out of the White House. At the moment, what we have is Romney and that is who we work for and vote for.
That is what is best for the country right now.
Would it make you feel more comfortable that Mormons believe God is on Planet Kolob - true, they think they located Him several years ago.
So, I am going to repeat the most important thing is getting Obama out of the White House.
re: “The words Father, Son and Spirit are all metaphors for YHvH.”
The doctrine of the Trinity is that there is One God, and within the One God there are three persons all identified in the scriptures as God - the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
God the Father did not die on the cross - God the Son did. After Jesus was baptized, the Father spoke from Heaven and said, You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased. (Luke 3:22; Matt. 3:17; Mark 1:10-11) - who spoke from heaven if Jesus and the Father are the same person.
Another example, when Jesus was on the Mount of Transfiguration with Peter, James and John, the scriptures say that a voice from heaven said, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.” (Matthew 17:5). Again, who spoke? Was Jesus throwing his voice?
Don’t get me wrong, I believe the scriptures are very clear that there is but One God. The problem is there are three persons all called God, the Father, the Son/Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. Hence the “triune” doctrine of God - three persons within the One God. Not, as the Mormons teach, three separate “gods”, but One Triune God.
Romney is a lawyer! I never never knew that and I am very surprised. I don’t blame him for keeping quiet about that.
That said, he might be a good President--certainly better than Obama--and I intend to vote for him.
re: “Romney believes in God the Father, His Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. Where do you get your facts from.”
I don’t know what Romney believes personally, but the Mormon faith teaches that they believe in God the Father, God the Son, and the Holy Spirit. That sounds like the Trinity, but it’s not because they believe in three separate and distinct gods. In other words, by definition, they are polytheist. They also believe that good Mormon males, assuming they are in good standing with their church, will one day become a god.
However, having said all of that, I see our nation as an airliner that is going down, it’s going to crash - the pilots are dead or incapable of flying the plane.
If someone on the plane says, “Hey, I know how to fly and I can get this plane to safety” - what do you do - you let that guy fly the plane and I don’t think anyone would care about what religion that person was as long as they can fly the plane safely to the ground. That’s how I see this election decision in 2012.
“Do you know this thread is in the Religion forum? We are talking about religion.”
Really. Did you read my post?
It is only three sentences long.
The next thing I say is about the impact of having a Mormon as president. My point is about having a non-trinitarian, non-traditional Christian as head of state.
That is the original point of the first posts I think.
“Love the mother, love the Son is a very wise statement. No Christian deifies Our Lords mother.”
My Bible equivalates honoring the Son with honoring the Father (1 John 2:22 and elsewhere). The Bible speaks a great deal about the Father and Son and Holy Spirit. It speaks very little about Mary.
Mary was the mother of Christ. Her maternal relationship was to Jesus Christ as a man. She is not the “mother of God” because Mary was created and finite. Jesus pre-existed before Mary was conceived and before she ever existed at all. To describe her otherwise is to introduce doctrinal confusion with semantics. Simply, Mary had nothing to do with Jesus’s claim to deity as He existed as God prior to Mary’s existence. His form as a man came chronologically and consequently to His birth by Mary. And even this choice was entirely on God’s behalf because God did not require Mary or any other person’s cooperation to accomplish the incarnation, as John said God is able to raise up seed to Abraham from stones.
Neither is Mary the mother of the Church, Christians or disciples. Jesus did commend Mary into the care of His youngest disciple (of the twelve) John to take His place as her earthly son. This interpretation is plainly supported by the next statement telling us she went to live with John. The Church, believers, disciples of Christ have one spiritual mother (no one has two mothers) - the Heavenly Jerusalem. “Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all...” - Galatians 4:26.
Neither does Mary exercise any particular or special authority over the church, and especially not over Christ. Recall, “woman, you must not tell me what to do.” This was not a disrespectful statement of Jesus toward His earthly mother. It was simply a stating of fact. Jesus was directed and under the authority of His Father - not an earthly father as Joseph represented, but God Himself. This is the same exact dilemma with which Jesus challenged His opponents to comprehend: how was the Messiah both David’s son and David’s Lord? Likewise, Jesus was Mary’s son, but this was on an earthly level. He was also and is also her Lord and Savior.
So I will not bow my knee to an image of her supposed likeness, nor invoke her name in my prayers, nor sing praises to her name. If she could be here in person today, she would cast dust on her head, rend her clothes, and sob great tears while imploring Catholics to stop this horrific disgrace upon her of using her as an idol. She would do so because she is a godly, holy woman who abhors idolatry. And just as the apostles and holy angels rejected such worship and adoration, she would reject it as well and tell us to worship her Son, our Creator, Savior and Lord of all. (See Acts 10:25,26 and 14:11-18; Revelation 19:10 and 22:8,9.)
“OH NO~! They dont believe WHAT YOU BELIEVE???
BUURN THEM!!!!”

I wish you would read the message even if you don’t believe it is a message from Our Lord’s mother. Her words are for everyone not just Catholics and they simply explain the requirement to believe in the Trinity.
Do not wait until the end, everyone needs God’s grace.
Pray, ask Our Lord. He will send you the grace to believe
if you ask Him. I actually have family who think the/their end, eternity is whatever you believed.
God bless you,
“Well, OK. You are aware we are not voting for a Protestant Pastor or Catholic Priest? I understand, it is easy to get confused.

kind reply...
It doesn’t solve anything. Both men reject the Triune God,
they very much need His grace to direct this country.
If you listen to them, they are both habitual liars. How
can God bless this country with either one in office?
Pray for an election “miracle.” I don’t know if Paul Ryan
is the miracle? I can’t figure it...I am going trust God.
“The notion that Catholics deify Mary, or worship her, or think she is the Savior, etc.All these notions are the accusations of anti-Catholic bigots. Read the Catechism of the Catholic Church and the Catechism of the Council of Trent from cover to cover, and you will not find a scintilla of a hint of a suggestion that the Catholic Church teaches any of these preposterous notions about Mary.”
It is not the teaching of the Bible either. Whether it is official church doctrine or not is irrelevant. Catholics do exactly the things you deny above. Feel free to chalk that up to disobedience to church doctrine just as they often disobey other official teachings. But it is a matter of fact that several Catholics on this forum have repeatedly argued for Mary to have co-Redeemer status with Christ.
Catholics are well known for the religious icons of Mary and others that they bow and pray toward.
The common Catholic instruction of saying hail Mary’s is yet another example. The very term “mother of God” is an abomination which I’m sure would break the heart of the real Mary if God allows her any awareness of this tragedy.
Opposing false doctrine does not make one an anti-Catholic bigot any more than opposing the homosexual agenda makes us anti-gay, or gay bashers / haters. Does opposing things that cause people to go to hell mean we hate people?
The Orthodox churched are certainly trinitarian. Even most of the Protestant bodies hold to the doctrine of Chalcedon, albeit in a muddled kind of way.
Hogwash! Jesus did not teach about a trinity ...he said...”forgive us as we forgive”...so we will not be forgiven if we do not exercise patience. That is the key of Christianity and something that the church is woefully inadequate in teaching well... sadly.
That could means that Jesus is a prophet figure, or that he is an avatar. So more unitarian than anything else. The first thing is pretty much the same as the Muslim view, but I suspect he has trouble with the Virgin birth as described in the Koran. Or as taught by liberal rabbis.
Don’t worry about it. God already knows who will be elected and don’t forget that God appoints the Kings and can remove them, too.
Mary is the co-redeemer, but essentially in the same way that any Holy Person is a co-redeemer. We believe she was sinless, but not a female Christ. The early Church spoke of Mary as the second Eve, Just as Even was born sinless, so was Mary. But Eve was disobedient, Mary was faithful. Always faithful. The Churchs doctrine on Mary is basically a reflection on the first two chapters of Luke. For those who think of this as no more than a fairytale, this can have no signficance, but it is for the majority of Christians, central to our faith. And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us.as John Says.
