Human rights are becoming a new form of totalitarianism, being used to drive Christians out of public life and even their jobs, European judges will be warned next week.
Laws originally designed to protect basic freedoms are instead being used to strip British society of its Christian foundations while upholding the rights of minorities, they will hear.
The warning, from a prominent Church of England bishop, comes as part of a landmark case on religious freedom in Britain to be heard at the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg next week.
In a powerful submission to the judges, the Rt Rev Michael Nazir-Ali, the former Bishop of Rochester, warns of a distorted human rights agenda which he likens to the atheist communist regimes in Eastern Europe which also suppressed Christianity by preventing public manifestations of faith.
Unless basic Christian values are upheld, human rights will become another inhuman ideology, like the totalitarian regimes of the past, suppressing individuals, he says.
The case is being brought by four workers including Shirley Chaplin, a former nurse, and Nadia Eweida, a British Airways check-in clerk who were denied the right to wear a cross as a visible manifestation of their faith.
They are joining with Gary McFarlane, a relationship counsellor, and Lillian Ladele, a registrar, who were refused the right to opt out of tasks which went against their beliefs on homosexuality.
All four cases have already been rejected by British employment tribunals and courts which concluded that wearing a cross or holding traditional views on sexuality were not core parts of the Christian faith.
They claim that British laws failed to uphold their freedom of religion under article nine of the European Convention on Human Rights and protect them from discrimination, under article 14.
The case is being viewed as a watershed.....

Un-freakin-believable! A court gets to decide what is part of someone’s faith?? We should start wearing crusader tabards!

This says a lot. No wonder they feel they are being vanquished by the aggressive secularists.
When secular courts outlaw Christianity, all Christians should be outlaws. It will be evident who are the sheep and who are the goats.
Note that no court in the world is challenging murderous Islam. Judges want to keep their heads.
For Europe it’s probably too late. And the Church of England has no one but itself to blame. It helped get the train moving and fueled it as it went down an all too predictable path, thinking they could stop it when it was getting close to going “too far”.
They’re now discovering that it can’t be stopped.
If they haven’t listened in the past 100 years, I doubt they will have any interest in the truth now.

well then maybe a lot of people should take the rags off their heads and stop facing east in public. or is it west? lol ..
"British airline BMI with full approval of the British Employment Tribunal has upheld the firing of a female, non-Muslim flight attendant for refusing to wear an abaya while she is de-planed in Saudi Arabia."
The PsTB are trying to eradicate Christianity at every level and replace it with islam. The NWO will be run by a few banksters and islam will be their means of controlling the little people.
Unfortunately for them, they're on the wrong side of the Apocalypse.
How does a judge get off ruling that Christian moral teachings are not core beliefs? Certainly in the Catholic Church, our salvation in Christ calls us to a moral life sexually and otherwise. These teachings are in the Bible, the Church fathers and constant in the magisterium through the centuries. Jesus calls us to forsake sin. This is absolutely central to the faith. I know that modernist Episcopalians decided in the Righter heresy trial that sexual teachings were not core, but that is NOT the Catholic teaching.
>>Catholic hospital networks are selling to secular non-profits because of Obamacare.
>>If people do not wake up and see what is going to happen here, their faiths will be forced underground in a similar fashion slowly over time.
They should not sell. They should refuse to comply, put on their crusader gear, and prepare to repel invaders. Make the gummint come in and arrest some doctors, priests, and nuns for practicing medicine within the constraints of their faith. If we keep backing down, we will wind up underground and scratching fish symbols in the dirt.
Once again, we need to be shouting “Deus Vult!”, not apologizing for offending someone with a tiny cross.

YES !!! You are exactly right. I have always thought the same way. Don’t close, don’t sell. Just go on doing the right thing.
Everyone here who is a Christian should pray for the success of Bishop Nazir-Ali.
This man is a conservative, bible-believing orthodox Christian—who would of been Archbiship of Canterbury (meaning the chairman of the largest Protestant body on earth—when one considers the 10s of millions of Anglicans in the developing world) but for his candidacy being sabotaged by the homosexual-lobby (Nazir-Ali is uncompromising on the sinfulness of sodomy...) in the UK.
I have met him, and heard him speak, and the man is an amazingly erudite intellectual scholar, as well as a faithful pastor of the Church.
