And so we come to You, feeling over burdened and heavy laden as we see with our physical senses the negative things that are happening in our world and to people we love. You are our refuge and strength and our ever present help! We are here to cast our cares upon You because You care for us, our American military and our Nation! We are here to pray in agreement with Your Word and with the power of Your Holy Spirit to change what we see with our natural senses to be in conformity to Your will! How awesome is Your power and Your love!
Our love for the men and women who have stepped forward to defend this Nation doesnt compare to Your love for them. We trust Your love, but come to You because Youve asked us to present our prayers and petitions to You. Pour out of Your Spirit on these men and women. Enlighten the eyes of their understanding to recognize Your love and willingness to protect, defend and usher them safely into eternity with You. Strengthen them all and give them the wisdom and skill that they need to be a success in their assignment. We ask You to surround them with whatever support that they needleadership, supplies, encouragement or support. Thank You for all You are surely doing.
It appears to us believers that You are drawing a clearer line between right and wrong in our Nations politics and yet so many appear to be blinded. Let Your Word have free course and let the Spirit of Truth shine brighter and brighter so that more can see the correct path. We pray for a cleansing among those in leadership. We crave leaders who will know and be strong to actively pursue and acquire righteousness for us. Thank You for giving us those leaders. We believe we receive.
Amen.
Come pray with me today for our Heroes and our Nation
It wasnt the first time it happened in sports, and it certainly wont be the last. But perhaps mentioning it again can help keep us from making a similar shameful error.
A college coachone noted for his Christian characterresigned in disgrace after it was discovered that he had violated rules clearly spelled out by the National Collegiate Athletic Association. One magazine article concluded: His integrity was one of the great myths of college football.
This was certainly an embarrassing time for the coach, but heres the most sobering part: It can happen to any of us. The temptation to go behind the hidden door of secrecy in our lives and do things that dishonor the Lord haunts us all. Indeed, we are all capable of turning our own integrity into a mythof turning our testimony for Jesus into a sham. No matter what the temptation, we are all vulnerable.
So, how do we avoid giving in? We acknowledge the universality of temptation (1 Cor. 10:13). We recognize the dangerous results of giving in to sin (James 1:13-15). We keep accountable to fellow believers (Eccl. 4:9-12). And we plead with God for help not to fall (Matt. 26:41). Only Gods grace and power can keep us from falling and pick us up when we do.
