O Lord, how priceless is Your unfailing love! Both high and low among men find refuge in the shadow of Your wings. They feast on the abundance of Your house; You give them drink from Your river of delights. For with You is the fountain of life; in Your light we see light. One thing we ask of You, Lord, this is what we seek: that we, Your Children in this Nation and all of our American Heroes may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of our life, to gaze upon Your beauty and to seek You in Your temple. For in the day of trouble You will keep us safe in Your dwelling; You will hide us in the shelter of Your tabernacle and set us high upon a rock.

Although our sins testify against us, O Lord, do something for the sake of Your name. For our backsliding is great; we have sinned against You. O Lord, we acknowledge our wickedness and guilt, we have indeed sinned against You. If You, O Lord, kept a record of sins, O Lord, who could stand? But with You there is forgiveness; therefore You are feared. We wait for You, Lord. Our souls wait, and in Your Word we put our hope. Our souls wait for You, Lord, more than watchmen wait for the morning. With You, Lord, is unfailing love and with You is full redemption. You Yourself will redeem us from all our sins. In the coldest and darkest days of the American Revolution, General George Washington raised his prayers for the survival of his beleaguered Army and of the new Nation. The Lord answered those prayers, upheld his Army through a punishing nadir to everlasting glory and bestowed His manifold benefits upon the new Nation.

In like manner, let our prayers now rise lie a fountain for our Heroes in the American Armed Forces who seek to secure the benefits of Freedom on behalf of a people hungry for them. Father, look on our prayers for them with favor, guide their steps in righteousness and keep them in the shelter of Your Healing Wings. Bless and uphold them in the performance of their Mission. Through Jesus Christ, Your Son, with the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever, Amen.
