Mitt Romney has gone to church several times since the Secret Service began guarding the Republican nominee, but he's yet to take in the more sacred Mormon rite: visiting an LDS temple.
As the first Mormon heading a major-party presidential ticket, Romney's newfound position with a Secret Service detail raises a question of how his around-the-clock protection would affect his ability to visit The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' most holy buildings.
While the general public can worship at an LDS meetinghouse, only church members in good standing are allowed inside temples, including one just outside Washington, D.C., in a Maryland suburb.
"There's no way the Secret Service is going to put up with that (restriction), with all due respect," says Ronald Kessler, author of "In the President's Secret Service: Behind the Scenes With Agents in the Line of Fire and the Presidents They Protect." "They will get permission and, of course, the church will understand and want him protected. They will go in."
Kessler says protectees, like presidents or presidential candidates, get a say in the level of security they need, though they also understand the threats against them at all times and are smart enough to know it would be too risky to go it alone.
"It would be ludicrous if his Secret Service couldn't protect him in any area like that where there are so many people. He would be a perfect target," Kessler says. "Even Mormons can be criminals."
Romney's campaign referred questions about the candidate's security detail to the Secret Service, which also declined comment, noting that it doesn't speak publicly about its means and methods of securing its charges.
LDS Church spokesman Scott Trotter, likewise, said the church wouldn't comment on security matters.

Even though Willard doesnt seem to attend the Mormon services regularily he should feel free to visit the “Surrender Dorothy” temple in DC...

No “apostate” would be allowed into the secret rooms of the temple...
even parents cant go in to attend their childrens temple weddings if they have no “tempple recommend”
Ann Romneys parents were not Mormons so they never got to see her married...
Its strict so I doube there will be any special accommendations for the SS of the Mormon president..

The White Horse Prophecy was repudiated by the LDS Church in 1918.
In December 2009, the LDS Church issued a statement in December 2009 that:
"The so-called 'White Horse Prophecy' is based on accounts that have not been substantiated by historical research and is not embraced as Church doctrine."
The history of the White Horse Prophecy is much more complicated. I'm happy to discuss that if you wish, but only in a historical context. I'm not interested in addressing LDS theology.

Since all Mormons are not worthy of getting inside the temples, aren’t there church services for the lowly Mormons, which Romney could also attend with normal Secret Service protection? Or are the worthy Mormons banned from associating with the non-worthy?

Neither the Bushes nor Clintons regularly attended the Christian Church across the street. That church (St. John’s) is Episcopal; both Clintons and Bushes practice Methodism, and attended Foundry UMC far more frequently.
St. John’s is so very Christian that when Secy. Sebelius recently attended a forum there and a pro-lifer presented a respectful question challenging her implementation of Obama care, that pro-lifer was boo’d by some congregants.
Absurd, bigoted posts are all she ever puts up.
I’m surprised she hasn’t whipped out one of her canned rants demonizing Mormons, quoting spurious “history”. She has quite a supply.
I’ve met 2 Secret Service guys, and they were both Mormon. I think they are over-represented, just as in law enforcement and the military. This shouldn;t be too hard to overcome.

I have never believed Bishop Romney was a sincere Mormon -- regardless of his title -- just as I know Pelosi et al aren't genuine Catholics. These people are frauds in the face of God. They could not advocate for the death of the unborn and depravity among adults if they were sincere and Holy Spirit-guided.
The SS will never be allowed into the inner secret temple room.
This is not a rule.
Romney can go to any ward.
No one is permitted into the secret temple unless they have been demeaned worthy of a TR.
Romney could get SS that are TRed and then it wouldn’t be an issue.

My lds family will not under any circumstances attend any church, they only go to ward.
