That’s a lot to read, and I didn’t make it all the way through. Is the basic contention that the book of Revelations has already passed as it was written for a conflict prior to 100AD?

Gee whiz, I dunno' but I'm working on it. First, the interesting discovery of Indian DNA in Scottish natives, the arrival of St. Gildas from beyond the Wall (in Scotland) about 500 AD, and the insertion of what are clearly the doctrines of Ahemsa (total pacifism) into Christian tradition and doctrine at that time ~ every sermon the guy left behind is telling people to quit warring on each other and just surrender ~ wild stuff ~ to be read later!

Before that Christianity was a tad more vigorous and disposing of heretics was done up front with fire and the sword!

Soon as I figure that one out, I'll be moving back to the 200s ~ which gets me a lot closer eh~!

Good post; but a rather long read. It’s nice if you can shoot your wad in about 1,000 words. If it’s that good, I’ll buy the book.

Too many people spend too much time trying to “prove” the first chapters of Genesis.

Too many people spend too much time trying to prove the last book of bible, Revelation (Apocalypse).

Too many people spend too much time ignoring what is between these two, and THAT is the important part!

This is indeed a worthy book--bought a copy at the Holy Spirit Abbey bookstore in Conyers, Georgia, some years back, and found it riveting.

I have to confess that Hahn's style annoys me sometimes--too much cutesy punning for my tastes, and I wish he'd just settle down and play it straight--but this book opened up the Mass for me into four complete dimensions by tying it into the Temple and pointing out, rather convincingly, its place in the Revelation, or vice versa, and showing it as an almost extra-temporal event!

Not quite as taken with some of Hahn's other books--it's that light, cutesy style that just rubs me the wrong way from time to time, but the guy does his research and is generally very readable.

And yeah, The Lamb's Supper is a book I would recommend to anyone who wanted to know what is going on in the Mass and why it has its form, or even someone who would like a little speculation on the book of Revelation--that is, for the person who is actually willing to learn rather than to gather contention-fodder.

But one suspects that this tribe is getting smaller yearly--maybe hourly!

Here's another book about the Mass with many, many Bible quotes from the Mass.

Recall how Jesus was put to death by Pontius Pilate and the Romans. But, this was also due to the provocation of fellow Jews against Jesus

The Sanhedrin, the Jewish supreme court, accused him and tried Him, declined mercy be extended to Him, and convinced Pilate to crucify Him despite Pilate's inclination to release Him. They also accepted the blame even on their children. What "provocation"?

Great post. There are imminence passages in the beginning, middle, and end of Revelation. Rev 1:1 says the book is about events that MUST (not might) shortly take place. Rev 1:11 says that John was in the Tribulation when he was writing. There can be no doubt that the Great City is none other than Jerusalem. When you point these things out to Christians their eyes glaze over like a deer in headlights.

“Before that Christianity was a tad more vigorous and disposing of heretics was done up front with fire and the sword!”

You’re wrong. As usual. How can you be this wrong this often? Seriously, it’s as if you put effort into simply getting everything in history wrong or skewed.
