Pray for our American Heroes
December 29, 2012 | Irish Rose

Others went out on the sea in ships;
they were merchants on the mighty waters.
They saw the works of the Lord,
his wonderful deeds in the deep.
For he spoke and stirred up a tempest
that lifted high the waves.
They mounted up to the heavens and went down to the depths;
in their peril their courage melted away.
They reeled and staggered like drunken men;
they were at their wits’ end.
Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble,
and he brought them out of their distress.
He stilled the storm to a whisper;
the waves of the sea were hushed.
They were glad when it grew calm,
and he guided them to their desired haven.
Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love
and his wonderful deeds for men.
(Psalm 107:23-31)

Father in heaven, we know that You have brought us to this day, and we thank You for it.

Father, in these dangerous times, we pray for our military men and women. We ask You to strengthen and guide them in the challenges they will face, and protect them in the dangers.

Lord, as we reach the end of another year, we thank You that Your provision and Your Spirit are constantly with us. Draw our hearts near to You, and keep us in Your way.

LORD, when merchants went out on the sea in ships, they saw Your works, Your wonderful deeds in the deep. For You spoke and stirred up a tempest that lifted high the waves; they mounted up to the heavens and went down to the depths, and their courage melted away. In their trouble they called out to You, and You brought them out of their distress. You hushed the waves of the sea and guided them to their desired haven. Lord, You rule over the mighty waters, the crashing waves and the raging sea; it is You who still the storm to a whisper, You who quiet the roar of the waters. You alone bring us home across the dark and unfathomable depths, and You are our haven. We gave thanks to You for Your unfailing love, and Your wonderful deeds for men, and we pray in the Name of Jesus, who walked on water and rebuked the wind and waves, Amen.

PRAYERS ASCENDING ON HIGH FOR OUR AMERICAN HEROES AND FOR OUR BELOVED NATION!

GEN. GEORGE WASHINGTON
THE PRAYER AT VALLEY FORGE

"Let Tyrants Shake Their Iron Rod"

Mixed District Choir, Fairfax, Virginia

In the coldest and darkest days of the American Revolution, General George Washington raised his prayers for the survival of his beleaguered Army and of the new Nation. The Lord answered those prayers, upheld his Army through a punishing nadir to everlasting glory and bestowed His manifold benefits upon the new Nation.

In like manner, let our prayers now rise like a fountain for our Heroes in the American Armed Forces who seek to secure the benefits of Freedom on behalf of a people hungry for them. Father, look on our prayers for them with favor, guide their steps in righteousness and keep them in the shelter of Your Healing Wings. Bless and uphold them in the performance of their Mission. Through Jesus Christ, Your Son, with the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever, Amen.

Heavenly Father, Lord of the Nations, unto Your Divine Mercy we commend the souls of these brave men and women who have fallen in the service of our Beloved Nation and in defense of the Freedoms we hold dear. We pray that You gather them in Your loving embrace, that You cause Your countenance to shine upon them, and that You vouchsafe their souls to dwell eternally in Your Divine Presence. Through Jesus Christ Your Son, with the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever, Amen.

Genuflectimus non ad principem sed ad Principem Pacis!

Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. (Isaiah 49:1 KJV)

Heavenly Father -
As Joshua learned before the Battle of Jericho, You are the leader the army - not any general or commander-in-chief. Send Your angels before our brave men and women to fight the enemy.
In Jesus Name, Amen

Bless The Boundaries

December 29, 2012

In all the years I’ve worked with people, I’ve yet to meet someone whose life was all messed up because he or she kept God’s commands. Yet, in a day when personal freedom is celebrated as an inalienable right, talk of conforming our lifestyle to God’s ways is often viewed as an infringement. And anyone who speaks out in favor of God’s boundaries is ruled out of bounds. But in this frenzy to be free, it should not go unnoticed that our society is increasingly marked with a haunting sense of meaninglessness and despair.

God’s people should have a distinctly different view of boundaries. Like the psalmist, we must realize that a blessed life comes from delighting in the law of the Lord (Ps. 1:2)—not in living like those who “walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take” (v.1 niv). A believer in Jesus will recognize that God’s boundaries are not meant to take the pizazz out of life. Instead, they are divine fences constructed with God’s wisdom to help us avoid the treachery and trouble of reckless living.

Next time you are tempted to break through God’s boundaries, remember His loving purpose in putting up fences. Choose to bless God for the boundaries and for the way they bless you.

What freedom lies with all who choose
To live for God each day!
But chains of bondage shackle those
Who choose some other way. —D. DeHaan
God’s fences keep you within the bounds of His blessings.

Read: Psalm 1

Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners. —Psalm 1:1
Bible in a Year:
Revelation 13-15
