I am going with Sheldon Cooper on this one: The odds favor the next Pontiff being named “mohammed Lee.”

Well, wasn’t that the line for the current Pope. I suspect the Irish aren’t certain if Austria is in Africa or not.

It does not matter what he is as long as he eats away at the legacy of Vatican II with its clown masses and guitar-playing hippie freaks.

Can they wait for the current one to pass away before making odds?

As an outsider to the Catholic church, I do think it would be cool if they picked one of the Bishops from China, a real one, not one the Communist Party appointed. It would send a strong message, I think.

These are the same bishops they trotted out last time.

The African Methodists are saving the Methodist church from itself. If it weren’t for them, gay marriage would have been approved. I don’t know about Catholics, but the African Methodists are way more conservative than their brethren in the US.

“They” is the bookmakers, not the Vatican. I’d be surprised if it was any one of these.

BXVI has appointed a number of new cardinals (from everywhere), so that the majority by the time of picking the new Pope will probably be pretty conservative. Beyond that, I don’t know.

I do think it may be an English-speaker, but that could be anybody from a Brit to an American to an African to an Indian. I don’t think it will be an Italian, no matter what.

“Trotted out”, that’s a funny way to put it. Makes me imagine the bishops are stored up in the attic, with dropcloths over them to keep the dust off until it’s time to pick a new pope.

I seem to recall a “prophecy” from “someone”, that the next Pope, will be the last Pope.

Anyone else have more info on this?
