Pray For Our American Heroes and Our Nation

Ronald Reagan, born February 6, 1911

23 This is what the LORD says:

“Let not the wise boast of their wisdom
or the strong boast of their strength
or the rich boast of their riches,

24 but let the one who boasts boast about this:

that they have the understanding to know me,
that I am the LORD, who exercises kindness,
justice and righteousness on earth,
for in these I delight,”
declares the LORD.

Jeremiah (NIV)

In February, we celebrate Presidents Day as a national holiday as some of our greatest presidents were born in this month, among them: George Washington - February 22, 1732; Abraham Lincoln - February 12, 1809; Ronald Reagan - February 6, 1911. May these birthdays of noteworthy men guide us in prayer -

------------------------------

Heavenly Father –

Thank you for allowing us to live in times of unprecedented opportunity and in a country with freedoms to spread the Good News to all nations as never before in human history. Even now, as Your hand touches our hearts and guides our hands on the keyboards of our computers, the internet can be used as a tool to glorify Your Name throughout all the earth, reaching people from every “kindred and tongue” – even those in hostile places closed to missionaries on the ground.

Protect all those who put themselves in harm’s way, home and abroad, to keep us safe and to secure our freedoms. And may we use our freedoms wisely as an opportunity to glorify You, even beyond this short span You have given us on this earth. May we glory, not in our own wisdom and technology, our military prowess, our economic might, but glory as a nation that knows and fears You.

Even in the midst of winter, You remind us of Your faithfulness. In times of great peril, You have raised up leaders, many born in this short month of February, to guide us through darks days when the spring of hope seemed so far off.

In the 18th century, George Washington led the patriots through the nadir of the American Revolution when the “Glorious Cause of America” was about to be snuffed out in its infancy. Yet, General Washington never gave up and persevered in the fight against a formidable world power and eventually, with Your grace, was victorious. He lived to help found our great nation - built upon godly principles - and set a sterling example as the first president of the United State of America.

In the 19th century, this “Great American Experiment” seemed doomed to fail as America had sown the wind of tolerating slavery and reaped the whirlwind of a horrific Civil War. Yet, Abraham Lincoln kept the union together and gave we, the people, real hope - that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth

In the 20th century after World War Two, we seemed impotent as many countries in the free world fell like dominoes to totalitarian regimes behind the Iron and Bamboo Curtains. We were dispirited by the ignoble end of the Vietnam War, the humiliation on the world stage of the Iranian hostage crisis, and the malaise of a bad economy plagued by stagflation and energy shortages. But Ronald Reagan championed principles that eventually precipitated the end the Cold War and the breakup of the Soviet Union, brought back optimism and a revival of our nation’s economy as well as our spirit so that we believed it was morning, again, in the America.

In the 21st century, it seems America is spiraling downward in a steep decline - spiritually, morally, economically, politically. May we, the people, be awakened from our apathy and be given spiritual discernment. May we choose leaders who fear You and keep Your commandments. And may we, the people, hold our leaders accountable to Your righteous ways instead of beholden to the machinations of unrighteous men.

Grant us mercy and stave off a tsunami of judgment that we so deserve. Pour out Your Spirit in the hearts of Your people to bring revival and pull us out of this tailspin before it’s too late. May Your Spirit ignite a Fourth Great Awakening in this land, and may we become a nation that knows the righteous ways of the Lord, again.

In Jesus Name

Amen

Heart Attitude

February 1, 2013

I love watching the skill and passion of great athletes as they give their all on the field. It shows their love for the game. Conversely, when a long season is winding down and a team is already eliminated from any opportunity for championship or playoff games, sometimes it seems that the players are merely “going through the motions.” Their lack of passion can be disappointing to fans who have paid to watch a good game.

Passion is a key aspect of our personal lives as well. Our heart attitude toward the Lord is revealed in how we serve Him. The apostle Paul said that our service includes the way we go about our daily work. In Ephesians 6:6-7, we read that we are to approach our work, “not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, with goodwill doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men.”

For me, the key in that verse is “from the heart.” I have a heavenly Father who loves me deeply and sacrificed His Son for me. How can I do anything less than give my very best for Him? The passion to live for God that comes “from the heart” provides our best response to the One who has done so much for us.

Father, every day offers opportunities for me to express
my love for You. May the passion with which I live, work,
serve, and relate to others be a fitting expression of my
gratitude for Your love for me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
The love of God motivates us to live for God.

Read: Ephesians 6:5-9

Not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart. —Ephesians 6:6

Intertwined

My Son is with me
I’m ne’er alone
His Spirit is in my heart
Where’er I roam

His Love is here
As it is with you
Hold Him so dear
His Love is True

As He is with me
I am in Him
Our hearts intertwined
Through thick and thin

Where is the Father
There is the Son
And, we are here for you
Each and everyone

Though you may feel
You’re so alone
Just open up to us
And so atone

You give us joy
As you give your heart
Keep us near
We’ll ne’er depart

You are all
So dear to us
And each trial
Brings tears to us

For you must learn
Only through pain
Our hearts yearn
That you would gain

An attitude
So close to me
I am in you
For Eternity

Praying with you, NEWwoman

O Lord Guide Our Nation

Almighty and eternal God, Protect our military as they
discharge their duties. Protect them with the shield of your
strength and keep them safe from all evil and harm.

May the power of your love enable them to return home
safely to the people who love them and to the gratitude of
the American people.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.

23 Thus says the LORD: “Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches, 24 but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the LORD who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight, declares the LORD.”

OH LORD, I pray for the hearts of our soldiers. As YOU ARE TRIUNE in GLORY FATHER SON SPIRIT…teach our soldiers of GLORY of service…. GOD COUNTRY FAMILY..YOU MUST BE FIRST. Dear LORD, love, justice, righteousness are the very essence of all Goodness and Sacrifice, which JESUS is our true COMMANDER. As our men and women serve, will serve, are preparing to serve, may they find PEACE with YOU first and foremost so that they may find strength in time of all needs .Amen. Out of an outpouring of Thanksgiving for all YOU give, may they love this COUNTRY. OH LORD, I pray for America. Forgive us, restore us, lead us to repentance, so that the lives and service of these warriors is not in vain. YOU have blessed this country, turn our hearts back to boasting in YOU ALONE and YOUR STEADFAST MERCY and GRACE…Amen. OH LORD, look with favor on our soldiers, so that they may return to that which YOU BLESSED them with: FAMILY. OH GOD, for the wives, hear their heartfelt prayers for the safety of their husbands. For the children, look with MERCY on the ones who feel “fatherless” in times of absence. May YOU hear their cries and comfort them with the LOVE of ABBA. For us parents who kiss the cheeks of our children, men and women alike, and send with them our hearts as if it may protect them from all harm. OH LORD, shield them in our LOVE….We pray deeply and sincerely…and most especially I do for my Jake and our friend Alek…Amen.

Amen

Heavenly Father - May Your Spirit and Your angels protect all those who serve others - a special prayer for Jake and Alek - from the enemy - home and abroad. Shield them from what is ahead of them, behind them, coming at the sides, from above or below. May they not faint ... but be renewed by Your Living Waters.
In Jesus Name,
Amen
