Is the Next Pope the One From John Bosco’s Dream? (Patrick Madrid offers an intriguing twist)
Catholic Exchange ^ | February 14, 2013 | Patrick Madrid

twopillarsdream

For at least the next month, we will be bombarded with a myriad of theories, speculations, and predictions about who will be elected the next pope. One name you will hear a LOT about in the coming weeks is Cardinal Tarcisio Pietro Evasio Bertone, S.D.B., who currently holds two important and powerful positions in the Vatican, Secretary of State and Camerlengo.

Already, the speculators and conspiracy-theorists are theorizing that Cardinal Bertone will be the next pope because, at least according to the dubious “prophecy of Saint Malachi,” the next pope after Pope Benedict XVI will be known as “Peter the Roman,” in part because his middle name, Pietro, is Italian for Peter. Some of these theorists are saying, Cardinal Bertone was “born in Rome.”

False. He was born in the Northern Italian town of Romano Canavese, in the Piedmont region, near the City of Turin.

Personally, I don’t buy into any of the hyped-up speculation about possible or probable papabili. My guess (and guessing is all anyone can do here) is that we will all be surprised by the election. For that matter, I’m not fazed by the speculation gyrations people are into right now. The Holy Spirit is in charge of this process and will write straight with the crooked lines we humans use.

So, all speculation and Saint Malachi stuff aside, I will point out something that I believe is a genuinely interesting factoid about Cardinal Bertone : Namely, that he is a Salesian of Don Bosco, and Saint Don Bosco, as you will recall, had a prophetic dream about a future pope who will guide the Catholic Church through a fierce storm of attacks into a respite of calm and peace.

In his dream, Don Bosco saw the Church as a great three-masted ship being moored securely between two towering pillars representing the Holy Eucharist and the Blessed Virgin Mary. I think many Catholics today would agree that, however choppy the water may be right now, the Catholic Church seems to be headed straight into a dark and dangerous storm of gale proportions. Cardinal Francis George recently said as much when he commented prophetically that he expects to die in his bed, he expects his successor to die in prison, and he expects his successor’s successor to die a martyr’s death.

In several weeks’ time, once the new pope is elected, I may look back and laugh at this blog post. Very possibly someone completely unexpected will be elected (which, I tend to think is what will happen). And yet, for the moment at least, I am simply taking note of the fact that Cardinal Bertone is a Salesian, a disciple of Saint John Bosco. When it’s all said and done and we have our new pope, wouldn’t it be just a tad remarkable if the future pope whom Don Bosco saw in his dream turned out to be one of his own sons?

So, Madrid has elevated the usual discussion of St. Malachi’s prophecies to the dreams of St. John Bosco. All speculation!

Here's Cardinal George's FULL quote:
"I expect to die in bed, my successor will die in prison and his successor will die a martyr in the public square. His successor will pick up the shards of a ruined society and slowly help rebuild civilization, as the church has done so often in human history." http://www.ncregister.com/blog/tim-drake/the-myth-and-the-reality-of-ill-die-in-my-bed

We have a retired Priest in his 80’s who celebrates one of the daily Masses at a local Church, and the other day in his homily, he said that he heard that a lot of Cardinals are “Masons”, and if they happen to elect a Mason Pope, “we are done”.

Yes, but he us getting "up there" in both his age and his faculties, and just fills in for that Daily Mass due to the severe Priest shortage. (I believe that that "Cardinals/Masons" reference is some kind of conspiracy theory floating around.)

He tends to come out with things from time to time that make everyone turn and look at each other in the Mass.

(For example, he also once said that Russia was not properly consecrated to Mary yet, and they better get on with it.)

He is a very nice old Priest though, and we are so thankful for his service, "above and beyond".

Protestants and Catholics are connecting a awful bunch of dots lately. I have to admit we are living the last days no matter what is reported.

Jesus told Sister Faustina that Divine Mercy Chaplet and Divine Mercy Sunday is for the Last Days. Also when it would be initiated the Sunday after Easter Sunday. This is now years past. So we are well into it according to our Lord. This prediction was in 1930's just almost ten years before Israel came into existence for the modern era.

I personally have been Daily praying for ten years now this chaplet and I have seen several visions in my Dreams come true. They all happen when I prayed before bed. They are rare( I do not get them every day).

Only one was a national dream. I had this dream during a power outage. So I had no electricity but candle light. It ends with Obama in a grass field coming out of his limo with a tiny amount of secret service surrounding. He gets out looks up then looks at me. I look up and see an invading army parachuting in the sky. Then I woke up to candle light which became electric light as the power came back. Totally amazed me. So I believe this was accented for me to tell others. This is the only dream that has not occurred. I do believe this will happen.

My dream was News Years eve Night of 2008 becoming 2009 the January month when Obama was sworn in office. I saw the divisions that became true. I believe the Tea party protests and "occupy" protests.

I would not be surprised if our nation is knocked out as a super power. I believe this can happen before the second coming or antichrist years. 55 million babies sacrificed. More than what brought judgement to the Israel nation back in the day of the old testament.Remember the vote the Democratic party convention had on God and Israel. We have a democrat president who declared we are not Christian. All these things this man speaks can be a self-fulling prophecy.

Pray the Divine Mercy Prayer Chaplet. This is one of the most powerful prays.

"Eternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity, of Your Dearly Beloved Son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world"

"You expired, Jesus, but the source of life gushed forth for souls, and the ocean of mercy opened up for the whole world. O Fount of Life, unfathomable Divine Mercy, envelop the whole world and empty Yourself out upon us."

"O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fountain of Mercy for us, I trust in You!"

"Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless and the treasury of compassion inexhaustible, look kindly upon us and increase Your mercy in us, that in difficult moments we might not despair nor become despondent, but with great confidence submit ourselves to Your holy will, which is Love and Mercy itself."

Amen!

Johngrace,

I have also had many things happen and become true that was given to me at Adoration. One example was I saw the Tsunami that devastated Japan the day before it happened, but there are others

One of the most vivid events was during a dream though. It was about the president of China dressed in black killing many people and being completely controlled by satan, my dream ended with Jesus and The Blessed annihilating this man and casting him into hell

Just to add a few comments..

I do question if some of the things were just coincidence or in the case of certain dreams just my mind being over active.

I suppose that’s normal to question things sometimes, but when I think about the odds of such coincidences It seems like it would be like the odds of winning the lottery.

I do not believe you are far from the truth. I believe you could be dead on. It's conjecture for some but not from you. When I admitted to what I have seen then come true years ago on these threads many people admitted privately in message mail their own dreams come true. You and I are not alone.

The dream you had can make sense when you consider that China is reported to be behind N. Korea's actions. Also the Chinese believe they can survive a nuclear war because of the one billion plus population. If you have read some sources. Thank you for telling me. May Christ guide us in these last days. Amen.

John,

I have not always connected these things to the end of mankind as we know it, but rather for our Lord leading me to pray for others during these difficult time

Prayer at Eucharistic Adoration seems to be where Christ is always leading me

Thanks for the information. (I had to look that term up, and I found there is also a book with that name. I wonder if our Priest here read that book.)
