I knew what the acronym meant.

What I don’t understand is how a sufficient number of parishioners can be in a State of Grace to require this fleet of EMCHs or EEMSs?

No, I do not automatically accept any changes to liturgy or rubrics and certainly not dogma, since 1962, not without prayerful scrutiny.

Also, why the dramatic change in demeanor from the friendly comments and FReepmails you have made to me in the past?

What is "the Roman style" for the sign of peace?

If you can get the vid to work, start at 41 minutes. Looks like Roman style is what we usually see from the popes. It's not a handshake. It's approaching the other, clasping the upper arms or shoulders, and pressing cheek to cheek. Doesn't look any different from other masses I've seen celebrated by recent popes.

Thanks! And no invitation to the folks to say “Howdy!” to one another? ;-)

I got an answer at post #22:

You asked:Also, why the dramatic change in demeanor from the friendly....

My answer: Because of this, I guess you call it a "joke. " that you posted

Your joke: glad I don’t know what that is. Extra-Marital something?

I find that, at best, juvenile; hence my curiosity about your age.

Is this what the lay people attending the Mass are doing or just clergy? It would take my connection much too long at 768kbps to download to check for myself.

If the laity did anything (or were invited to), I didn’t see it!

** The Pater Noster is spoken not sung, sad!**

The author could be wrong here. Check the GIRM. I believe the Our Father is to be spoken and only sung on special occasions.

livius, deacons are ordinary ministers of the eucharist along with priests so they can administer either the Chalice or the Blessed Sacrament.

Moreover, when a bishop celebrates Mass, the other ministers who officiate with him are his two deacons. The other clergy, whether they be priests or bishops are “only” concelebrants, or they are deacons, priests or bishops who attend in choir.

It is normal that if the celebrating bishop does not distribute Holy Communion to the laity that his deacons do so, because the deacons are “the bishop’s men”, and by receiving from the deacons the congregation are effectively receiving from the bishop himself. Concelebrating priests and bishops “communicate themselves” directly from the altar either before or while Communion is distributed to the congregation.

I must confess, it usually throws me for a moment when I am officiating at Mass with my bishop. It’s a similar principle to the officiating deacons coming at the back of the procession with the bishop, behind all the other clergy - even if that were to include Cardinals.

What concerns me more about this video is that the Pope is obviously not physically able to genuflect - no doubt because of the pins in his knee - nor is he able to remain standing long enough to distribute Holy Communion to the congregation. A number of times he was steadied by the hands of Mgr Marini - his mobility is not great. I do wonder how long he’s got to clean out the stables?

This is new information to me.

Puzzling, though, that he chose to ride the city autobus in Buenos Aires rather than hail a diocese van, in light of this disability. I could see even the three steps in and out of the bus to be an obstacle for one so afflicted. Maybe the bus story is not so recent?

I wondered about that. Now I know, thanks!

As we have now seen him kneeling to wash women’s feet, I am beginning to question this “disability”. Perhaps it was spin put out there to excuse an abuse.

Strange how a man can kneel to wash people’s feet, but he can’t genuflect before Our Lord! I suppose genuflections at the consecration don’t make good photo-ops - or maybe I’m being too cynical
