Faith Of Our Fathers (Prayers in Song for Pope Francis) [Catholic Caucus]
youtube ^

St. Augustine said that when we sing sacred music, we pray twice.   This post is meant as a brief collection of those "double-prayer" hymns for our new Holy Father.

Here's the first link to one such song, for Pope Francis.

The next time you feel moved to pray for the intentions of Pope Francis in the traditional manner by praying an "Our Father", "Hail Mary", and "Glory Be", you might find one of the following sacred hymns found on "youtube" from various languages and traditions to be helpful as an inspiration, accompaniment, or meditative followup to your prayers.   (Please add any other sacred music links you discover which you believe might also be appropriate for this purpose, to pray in song for Pope Francis and his holy intentions.)

(DISCLAIMER: I don't pretend to understand all of these languages in these prayer-songs which I found by searching in "youtube". They all seem like beautiful sacred music that reflects what they're called on youtube, but if somebody who knows these languages finds that I've inadvertently included something here that is not really appropriate for this kind of post, please let the Moderater know to have that link removed. Thanks.)

Is that sort of a comment (#3) allowed on a Caucus thread?

Very beautiful (and nice chart too). Thank you! In confession this week, the priest told me my penance, and said to pray it for Pope Francis. And at the same parish but with a different confessional priest, I was told to pray my penance for the little kids in hospitals. I thought that was touching instruction.

Yes, and St. Patrick was neither born Irish, nor is he a canonized saint. Actually, he is more Protestant than Catholic.

Carry on...

Thanks for your kindness, and thanks for the Rosary (plus) link.

That really was a great penance instruction, applying your penance towards another worthy goal too (in addition to just your own penance).

Well, regarding one of those points, have you ever read this counter view?   Was St. Patrick Catholic?   By James Akin

Alongside St. Patrick, Nigerians also hold Our Blessed Mother Mary as their Patron Saint as well. (I think they're adequately covered when it comes to Patron Saints.)    :-)

Thanks for that music link. That music was beautiful.

"Related   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i2naSzb1psU "

You think that "The Lord's Prayer" (The "Our Father") that Jesus Christ taught to His Apostles and to all of us, as the perfect way for all of us to pray to God the Father, is somehow related to a goofy, misguided kids' song tribute to Obama?

Do you really believe that?

Thanks for adding this music thread to your list of links to the Pope Francis threads, and for all the ongoing expanding lists of links you maintain and post, in order to make it easier to find related threads on many topics later.

When we pray for the Pope's Holy intentions, we usually pray the "Our Father", "Hail Mary", and "Glory Be", and I thought it would be a good idea to find a bunch of musical versions of those prayers to enhance them sometimes, and share those links with everyone.

I also thought it would be good to list video or audio versions of other prayers for the new Pope as well, such as audio/video Rosaries, etc.

Anyway, Salvation, thanks again for all the magnificent work you put into all these various things on FR.    It is greatly appreciated!
