The History Channel's unlikely hit ratings winner 'The Bible' aired its gut wrenching Easter finale on Sunday evening - packing an emotional punch so hard that it reduced many of its dedicated viewers to tears.

The harrowing episode entitled the 'Passion' dramatized the inevitable crucifixion of Jesus Christ on Calvary, leaving many shocked as the full horror of a Roman execution was laid bare for the program's ten million plus followers.

Indeed, Twitter lit up during the visceral scenes of torture, with many declaring the heart-breaking depiction of Jesus Christ's sacrifice had caused them to break out in floods of tears - with some people taking to the social networking site to share pictures of their distress.

“If you genuinely want truth, study the Bible more (inductively). Truth is there. I’ve been looking to it for guidance for 20 years and it is the only thing that never fails me.”

Obviously more than one have ignored my comment that my “opinions” are just that, opinions based upon observation.

My observations is all the pain and suffering which was to allegedly help us to realize “God’s purity and holiness” has not worked and by and logical and honest measure has been an utter failure.

People can dance on the head of a pin all they want trying to justify the pain and suffering of an innocent child but a thinking person certainly is on solid ground in questioning such perverted logic.

I am not looking for “Peachy”, never said or implied that. What I would love to see is swift punishment for anyone in power (usually in government but sometimes in religious circles) but it either never comes, at least on earth, or way too much suffering by innocent people before justice is served.

“God allows horrible things to happen to try to emphasize to us that we are in a SINFUL world.” Again, seems this tactic has failed miserably. It also Seems exactly like we are treated by our governments. Punish the honest because of the evil doers. Sucks and is wrong. At every turn we are denied rights because of scum.

One’s observations are just that...only one person’s observations.

If you have 6 billion people in the world you have 6 billions sets of observation of what is “truth”. And this is exactly why law (gov’t) is necessary...because anarchy is much worse than living under law.

You think that the human soul is innocent...others think the soul is tainted. The Bible tells us the latter viewpoint is the correct one. If one REALLY wants truth he/she will not live only with one’s own ideas but will open himself/herself to what the Bible has said throughout history. It’s not that hard to read INDUCTIVELY...but you have to really WANT the truth and not only allow anger to rule you.

Am I wrong or was it an error when they included Caiaphas sentencing Jesus to death? How could he have? The Jews had no law to put a man to death. And even the word "blasphemy" was out of place.

Caiaphas did have authority as High Priest to hold a trail withing The Temple for Blasphemy for that matter that event could happen in a crowd as The Bible's written Word and the movie showed. There was an earlier attempt to stone Jesus in his home town as well.

Caiaphas held an illegal trial at night with the Jewish Priest {elders} The Sanhedrin to convince all present except Nicodemus who voted not guilty and Joseph of Arimathea who was not present of Christ guilt {in his eyes}. Both men were believers in Christ. It was Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus who laid Christ in the tomb Joseph provided.

Jewish Law death punishment was stoning usually carried out by mob crowd such as the case with Stephen. Roman death penalty was carried out by Crucifixion on a cross. Caiaphas had Pilate do his dirty work for him IOW. Christ had a considerable following and he was afraid of a revolt removing him from power. He was more evil politician in the regard than any love for GOD or Temple it seems.

Caiaphas also managed to manipulate Christ trial before Pilate. Obviously Caiaphas had say in who had access to that trial. Also was the fact many of Christ followers were not aware of this trial until after crucifixion.

In the trial before the Sanhedrin one Priest had to vote not guilty in order for the conviction to be legal under The Law of Moses IIRC.

Herod was involved as well as Caiaphas took Christ before Pilate the Roman ruler appointed by Cesar then Pilate sent Christ to Herod and Herod sent Christ back to Pilate for death. That part wasn't shown in the movie. Herod had no authority even as governor to order death by crucifixion. Death by crucifixion was foretold in The Old Testament although Caiaphas and Herod were blind to it. The movie from what I can tell followed the Book Of Matthew's account which left out mention of Herod's part in Christ sentence. The book of Luke does give that account though.

I guess they didn’t see Mel Gibson’s movie, “The Passion of the Christ!”

The tears started flowing about five minures into it and I lelft the theater in tears.
Indeed! Powerful movie. We've watched in twice on Good Fridays.

Love Christ, but given the world’s condition since his death, he died for nothing. Humanity sucks. Some more than others.

Jesus Christ fulfilled The Laws of Moses we could not and were/are without Christ condemned by. Through one mans sin his disobedience to GOD {Adam} sin entered what was a perfect creation that knew not sin or death. Through one mans complete obedience to The Laws of Moses and following the Will Of GOD we all who believer and trust in Christ are saved.

The words The Lamb Of GOD are literal. The same laws required starting at The First Passover required a lamb without blemish. It was to live with the family and the family become fond of it best analogy is like that of a pet. Then to feel remorse for their sins the Lambs blood was to be spilled and the family told to eat The Lamb sacrificed to God a lamb without broken bones. This was to show sorrow, and repentance for sin.

Jesus at the Passover feat of Bread told His Disciples as he hand them bread .

Luke Ch 2219Then he took a loaf of bread; and when he had thanked God for it, he broke it in pieces and gave it to the disciples, saying, “This is my body, given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” 20After supper he took another cup of wine and said, “This wine is the token of God’s new covenant to save you—an agreement sealed with the blood I will pour out for you.£

John Ch 19 31The Jewish leaders didn’t want the victims hanging there the next day, which was the Sabbath (and a very special Sabbath at that, because it was the Passover), so they asked Pilate to hasten their deaths by ordering that their legs be broken. Then their bodies could be taken down. 32So the soldiers came and broke the legs of the two men crucified with Jesus. 33But when they came to Jesus, they saw that he was dead already, so they didn’t break his legs. 34One of the soldiers, however, pierced his side with a spear, and blood and water flowed out. 35This report is from an eyewitness giving an accurate account; it is presented so that you also can believe. 36These things happened in fulfillment of the Scriptures that say, “Not one of his bones will be broken,”£ 37and “They will look on him whom they pierced.”£

And last but not least the wods of John The Baptist John ch 1 29The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look! There is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! 30He is the one I was talking about when I said, ‘soon a man is coming who is far greater than I am, for he existed long before I did.’ 31I didn’t know he was the one, but I have been baptizing with water in order to point him out to Israel.”

Christ told Pilate and others His Kingdom was not of this world. Yet had Christ not became The Lamb of GOD we would have no hope of salvation. His death was not in vain but rather His death was so all who believe in Him and repent calling on His name for salvation even though they die a physical death on earth shall live forever in the resurrection with perfect bodies without the curse of original sin caused by Adam and Eve. In that respect once we do that our kingdom is not of this world either. We await a new life promised but not yet seen by most persons who have lived except to the few GOD revealed it to. Meaning seeing the heavens while still alive.

—— ALLOWING pain suffering of a new born baby with some malady and attempt to excuse that by the “original sin” excuse is BS aplenty to me. That little baby did nothing worthy of such suffering. ——

Part of the mystery of Original Sin is that somehow humanity is one, in an analogous way to believers being the Body of Christ.

We all suffer for our parents’ sins, just as a crack baby suffers from the sins of his mother.

Suffering cannot be eliminated without eliminating free will, which would reduce human beings to mere robots.

This is the best, most concise explication of the Problem of Evil that I’ve read.

A very thoughtful reply St_Thomas_Aquinas and I fully understand the conventional thinking however, we certainly would not impose the sins of the father, grandfather, great grandfather.... in our legal systems because we know that to be completely unfair and just plain wrong.

Yes, I know comparing a human legal system may be an inappropriate comparison but free will also implies free thinking and the thinking part of my brain keeps telling me there is something seriously wrong in the Master Plan especially after thousands of years with little improvement.

I cannot view the current daily atrocities imposed on humans without thinking, someone is sticking to a failed plan no matter what OR, we have upset God so much he has left the building.

The previous pope expressed a very similar sentiment about a month ago, so you’re in good company.

No infant was more innocent than Jesus. We believe that what Jesus felt in the garden was the full weight of sin, of the helplessness of other humans as things spun out of control. For sinning is like jumping into the abyss.
