Four people hurt in Albuquerque church stabbing (assailant screamed 'False preacher!')

At least four people were hurt at an Albuquerque church Sunday when a visitor jumped out of the pews and stabbed a choir member during a song, police and witnesses said.

The victims did not appear to have life-threatening injuries, police said.

Two parishioners told the Los Angeles Times that after communion at the St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church on Sunday morning, a man in his teens or early 20s leaped from the pews and stabbed the choir's lead singer while the choir was singing.

"While that was going on, people were just panicking. It was scary, you wouldn’t think something like that would happen in church," Reyes Stinson, 18, told The Times.

Another parishioner, Vanessa Lucero, 14, told The Times she was sitting right behind the man, who "was kind of twitchy, sketchy looking. He had a tattoo of an upside-down star on his wrist."

Lucero said the man climbed over the pews, punched and then repeatedly stabbed the choir's lead singer.

"He said, like, 'False preacher!' " Lucero said. "I don’t know why.”

We have a couple of cops who often attend Mass in full uniform with their guns strapped on.

We had confirmation a couple of weeks ago and there was a woman who started saying, a little too loudly, that the bishop was no better than anyone else. An usher showed her the door.

I think all news reports where there is a highly publicized shooting or an attack within the church should include photos of the perps if nothing more than to reinforce what we’ve been saying and thinking every time an incident occurs - that it’s an atheist commie loving liberal that commits these horrendous acts; the very same scum that votes for Obama. Not true at all. Salvation, if what you have posted above reflects your sincere beliefs about Masons, then your beliefs about the Fathers of our Country must equally be as abysmal.

If a Mason were to steal, that would result in a-u-t-o-m-a-t-i-c permanent expulsion. Masons are honorable upright men who believe in God. They are a benevolent group who pour countless time and money into charitable good works.

President Bill Clinton never took the steps to becoming a Mason after being President of his local DeMolay in high school. Then years later, when word of Clinton's indiscretions were made public, the local Freemason chapter removed Clinton's past history of being DeMolay President from all records.

Catholics are allowed to join the Masons. Historically it was the Roman Catholic Church who did not permit Catholics to become Freemasons, however that was rather difficult to enforce since the only way someone could know if someone else was truly a Mason is if they saw them inside the local Lodge. My dear departed Dad said that a Roman Catholic priest had long been a Mason in his lodge.

The requirements to become a Mason is to believe in God and apply for admission.

In this case, we can assume the star is the 5-pointed star known as a pentacle. Pentacles are frequently used in magic rituals. If the "legs" point downward it has a number of positive meanings. But if the legs of the pentacle point upwards it is the sign of the "goat", i.e. Satan. I think that is the type of pentacle described here.

Well, I suppose a 14 year-old girl sitting in the pew behind the slasher would get a brief glimpse of the perp's arm and know what a "pentacle" star was and what the position of the star's points would denote and if it was "upside-down" or not.

But then again, just walking through a large mall around here leads me to believe a 14 year-old with a stud in her bottom lip and another one perched on the side of her nose......and gothic-black eye-makeup laid on her sullen face with a trowel would definitely know what a pentacle is!

Many teenaged girls today dabble in some sort of “magic” and the ones who don’t will be familiar with any number of occult symbols thanks to TV and the movies. That said, I’m not sure how to precisely determine the tattoo’s orientation. From the point of view of the owner, a tattoo of a pentacle where a single point faced down the arm would appear to be right-side-up, while a star with a single point facing the elbow would be upside down. But who knows how she might have interpreted it? And then again, she may have just made it up.
