Romans 12

14 Bless those who persecute you [who are cruel in their attitude toward you]; bless and do not curse them.
17 Repay no one evil for evil, but take thought for what is honest and proper and noble [aiming to be above reproach] in the sight of everyone. 18 If possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.
19 Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave the way open for [God’s] wrath; for it is written, Vengeance is Mine, I will repay (requite), says the Lord.
20 But if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals upon his head.
21 Do not let yourself be overcome by evil, but overcome (master) evil with good.

Father God, we are so grateful for Your Word to guide us! Sometimes we rejoice over it and sometimes our flesh wants to stumble over it. However, we remember that it is always for our good and for that we give you thanks.

Father, we confess that Your body here in our United States is angry over what we see happening in our Nation, but we choose to thank You, as Your Word commands. We will not repay evil for evil, but will do what is honest, proper and noble. We will live at peace with everyone. We will trust You to execute vengeance on our enemies and we will be kind to our enemies. We will master evil with good! Hallelujah! You have given us the weapon of love, which never fails!

We pray for our military men and women today. Let Your Word have free course among them. As jeanbl prayed yesterday, give favor to those who preach Your Word among them—in season and out of season. We honor and bless You for each one who preaches Your uncompromised Word. If there are any hirelings among them, we pray for their salvation by the enlightening of the eyes of their understanding by the Holy Spirit.

Thank You for answering our prayers and for this year of Grace and unprecedented favor. We pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Amen to all those promises during trying times, Hiskid

As the National Day of Prayer is tomorrow, may all God’s people lift up our nation - our leaders, our heroes, our families, all who are broken.

May our spirits be broken vessels where the Light of Jesus will shine in the darkness. In this eleventh hour, may Your Spirit sweep in the land and send revival.

Amen

All That Is Precious

May 1, 2013

Throughout my life, I’ve accumulated a lot of stuff. I have boxes of things that at one time were important but over time have lost their intrigue. And, as an unrepentant collector, I’ve realized that the thrill is in searching for and acquiring a new piece to add to the collection. Then my attention turns toward the hunt for the next item.

While we pile up many things that are important to us, very little of it is really precious. In fact, over time I have learned that the most precious things in life are not material items at all. Rather, it’s the people who have loved me and built into my life who are precious. When I find my heart saying, “I don’t know what I’d do without them,” I know that they are indeed precious to me.

So when Peter refers to Jesus as “a chief cornerstone, elect, precious” (1 Peter 2:6), it should resonate in our hearts that He is truly precious—our prized possession above everything and everyone else. Where would we be today without the constant unfailing companionship of His faithful presence, wise and perfect guidance, merciful patience, comfort, and transforming reproof? What would we do without Him? I can’t even imagine!

Lord, help us not to focus on fleeting treasures but on
You, our most precious treasure. Teach us the joy
of reveling in You and Your loving presence
and provision in our lives.
Of all that is precious, Jesus tops the list.

Read: 1 Peter 2:1-10

Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious. —1 Peter 2:4

Thank You for this reminder Hiskid...vengeant hearts spew vengeant words and as our LORD reminds us, Matthew 15:18 But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these things defile a person. Today I feel guilty as charged. My son and daughter came home from school and I went off attacking all those who stand against Christ...in the government, in our schools, in our homes. But, as the HOLY SPIRIT always does for us when we grieve HIM, he reminded me of this one thing: “But for the GRACE of GOD go I”, and with that I echo Job 40:4...I put my hand over my mouth to silence myself. Dear LORD, forgive me for any shadow of self righteousness I may shed over these two young soldiers my Jake, and his Courtney. With all that is attacking our military, they surely don’t need a over zealous mother. Give me wisdom to speak truth in LOVE not only for them but for others. OH LORD, they will need you as well as all our soldiers in so many different circumstances, and solid FAITH in YOUR GOODNESS and YOUR RIGHTEOUSNESS and YOUR SALVATION has be their foundation. Help us pray for this, speak this for those we love, and walk this before all we come in contact with. I LOVE YOU GOD, ONLY because YOU HAVE FIRST LOVED ME...AMEN and AMEN.

Bless you Hiskid for speaking God's truth to us in love. It's so hard to read things that are happening in this country, especially things directed towards our children, and not be angry. It's a fine line between righteous indignation and standing in judgment and anger, hoping to see God strike them down; but forgetting they are blinded by satan; a soul who will spend eternity lost, suffering and without God.

May I pray for the lost more than I accuse them; I pray that I work in positive ways to change things that are wrong, rather than vent. May I examine my heart before judging others. God please allow people across this country wake up and see the evil that is being unleashed on this world and feel the need to pray. I pray that we all humble ourselves, see our own sins, repent and turn to You, God for forgiveness and hope. Have mercy on this nation and help us to walk in Your will and Your ways. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

I love joining in on the discussions, praying and hoping that God will intercede, but do become frustrated when it appears evil is not being stopped. (Too many times I try telling God how He should do things-Please turn Mikey Weinstein into another Paul/Saul, God.) It's hard to trust and pray when it seems evil is winning. I know evil will be defeated eventually, I just want "thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven" today, now and always. If anyone catches me with angry smoking fingers that are out of control, please remind me of my prayer. Thanks for being here.

I love the way you share your heart so openly. We can all relate perfectly. The Romans 12 scriptures convicted me, as well. I have allowed comments out of my mouth that are not at all in keeping with what we pray here daily!

AMEN and AMEN for myself.

Let's covenant together: "Exercise foresight and be on the watch to look [after one another], to see that no one falls back from and fails to secure God’s grace (His unmerited favor and spiritual blessing), in order that no root of resentment (rancor, bitterness, or hatred) shoots forth and causes trouble and bitter torment, and the many become contaminated and defiled by it— (Hebrews 12:15)"
