Scientist Fired for Believing Jesus Heals
Charisma News ^ | 6/5/13 | Dale Hurd

People can believe a lot of crazy stuff nowadays and not be fired from their jobs, but a senior research associate at the Catholic University of Leuven learned that you better not believe that God can heal.

The university is the oldest and largest in Belgium. It was founded in the 1400s under the approval of the Vatican. But as modern Europe has secularized, so has the University, and even here, faith has come under fire.

Fernando Pauwels worked at the University's Research Institute for Work and Society for 11 years without a negative review when he was suddenly fired.

He said, "If you would have asked me, 'Do you get a new contract?,' I would say, 'Yes, of course.' 'Do you have problems with your colleagues?' I would say 'No, everything is fine.' So there were no issues there. A week later I'm out, and I'm like, 'What happened?'"

What happened was the Catholic University's great displeasure with Fernando's ministry website, Powerthroughlove.be that included testimonies of people healed through the power of God.

Pauwels said, "The University saw some of these movie clips of people being healed and giving their testimonies, and called them 'unscientific.'"

The university, which declined our interview request, told CBN News in a statement that "when a researcher working on matters of a scientific or medical nature allows religion to take the place of science, he compromises the scientific reputation of the university and breaks the bonds of trust with the university."

Religious faith in God is crazy, but religious faith in government is completely sane.

Who knew?

Unreal. I just watched the telemovie “Gifted Hands” about Dr. Ben Carson. It moved me to tears and I just downloaded the book. Perhaps they should listen to Dr. Carson.

You can believe in the power of Jesus’ healing all you want. Giving people an excuse to use prayer instead of medical treatment is something else.

"The University saw some of these movie clips of people being healed and giving their testimonies, and called them 'unscientific.'"

This was on a private website and those giving testimonials were sharing anecdotal evidence of their personal experiences. Why should that have to be scientific?

And this was a Catholic university.

Is that what he was doing?

I visited the website, but if I am not mistaken it is a Belgian website and I don't speak or read Belch.;-)

"when a researcher working on matters of a scientific or medical nature allows religion to take the place of science, he compromises the scientific reputation of the university and breaks the bonds of trust with the university."

Did he EVER allow his faith in God to over-ride his scientific research at work?

I think not. He just did some things in his personal life that these secular, faithless administartrrs were embarassed by.

So, at a Catholic University, a researcher is fired for having faith in God.

Unbelievable. You can't make this suff up.

MORE LIBERAL LOGIC

Uh... I read nothing that indicated that he was telling people not to seek medical treatment.

Or, do you believe that medical treatment and faith in God or mutually exclusive?

I have news for you. They are not. Read about my own Cancer Experience.

I had a very rare cancer reequiring the most invasive surgery imaginable. I had and have great faith in God, and throughout my medical treatment, experienced the Hand of God helping me through the experience. God can work miracles through medical treatment too.

..and my experiences or in no way out of the ordinary or uncommon.

In fact, I believe that giving this witness of that very thing to you is one of the reasons God kept me here, among many, many others.

This man was involved in documenting similar experiences. In fact, I think I will send him my own.

“called them ‘unscientific’”

Ah yes! Science has tried for many years to disprove God’s powers. But, one day, the truth, and the judgement, will come.

I listened to a book and then watched a movie called Horse Boy. It’s about the parents of a pretty severely autistic boy who has an innate connection with animals. They decide that shamanistic healing will heal him and head off to Mongolia and take a long horseback trek to a remote region. The boy is of course helped.

The parents are teachers at a TX college.

I would bet a large amount that within 10 miles of their home they could have found a “Christian” faith healer. Mr. Spock or another objective observer of human behavior would not be able to see any logical or scientific difference between the rituals performed by the Mongolian shaman and the Texas faith healer.

What I thought was hilarious is that all their friends would nod along with agreement when they would talk about shamanistic healing, but would be appalled if they took the kid to the faith healer. Which of course, being modern liberals, they probably never even considered.

Some forget that catholicism was founded by the ROMANS. It was not founded to teach the truth. It was founded to gain control of the people, not to promote God.

Why else would the church refuse to allow people to read the Bible for themselves. It has to be interpreted through THEIR ‘wisdom’ and teachings.

They fear the Holy Spirit may change hearts and some people may learn that we can truly learn truth only through Him.

Find the $ that the University feared it would lose by keeping they guy, and you find the reason he was let go.

Imagine their shock if they learned that he believed that bread and wine could become God Himself.

What with entropy, and osmosis, the body of our Savior permeates the whole earth!

An amazing man. I have an opportunity to hear him speak this Fall. I think I will be in attendance, even if the tickets are a little pricey.

And the uncut stone that fell from the heavens, smashed the image and then became a mountain that filled the whole Earth...from the book of Daniel.

Your posting lines up with Daniel!
