DALLAS — In the parking lot outside St. Patrick Catholic Church in Northeast Dallas, the Rev. Josef Vollmer-König greets his parishoners with hugs and good wishes.
"Have a good day; God bless you!" he said with a grin.
Rev. Vollmer-König is proud of his church's diversity. In fact, he challenges a visitor to name a country and says it is likely that one of his members will represent the location.
Senait Kalleb, from East Africa is proof of that.
"Its a very welcoming church", Kalleb said. "We have a lot of diversity here."
But she's not the only foreigner. So too is Vollmer-König, who is from Germany. His American citizenship is one reason why he held a special mass to support immigration reform on Sunday.
"We want everybody to live in protection and peace," the pastor said.
On Sunday morning, before a packed church, Vollmer-König gave a short homily and then participated in prayers seeking economic justice and political reform.
He said his decision to participate was motivated by teachings in the Bible, and the fact that many Catholics are immigrants.

The writing was on the wall after LBJ opened the floodgate from the 3rd world countries and no subsequent president dared to reverse that trend.
Still, the parish I attend, although in the middle of what people call the Golden Ghetto, is very diverse. Africans, African-Americans, Asians from about four or five areas, every variety of Europeans, Indians of both persuasions.
And to own their own personal skittle pooping unicorn and golden egg laying goose...
How about wanting everybody to abide by the laws of the land and not to bare false witness - padre?
And, the fact most of these so-called "priests" have no idea what the Bible is actually saying.
The Israelites under Joshua were undocumented immigrants in the Land of Canaan. The Gibeonites were ordered to become hewers of wood and drawers of water for the Israelites. In modern terms that means welfare, food stamps, free health care, and affirmative action (for non-European immigrants), paid for by the American citizens.

A local radio host was talking about this today. His kids attend a Catholic school and he was advocating going in and telling the school officials that his kids would still be attending the school but he wasn’t going to pay for it.
His logic was that if the church (or any church) supports illegals and their theft of jobs, free benefits, etc; then they won’t mind supporting his kids in their school for free.
Not a bad idea to make a point.

Actually, if this is the kind of hermeneutic you employ, then just about any fanciful thing can be crafted from the text. Using ordinary interpretive principles, the "priest" is wrong (but typically a liberal Catholic.
There is no biblical basis for breaking into a country for financial gain (the excuse used by those crossing the border illegally). There is no analogical justification to say this historical group represents us (or them). And, no the Israelites were not "undocumented immigrants" in Canaan. The land had been given to Abraham 430 years earlier and they were just laying claim to their deed.
Where do the Catholics enter into this? Are they the ones enslaving American citizens (the Gibeonites) and forcing them to provide welfare for the illegal immigrants (the Israelites)? Are you actually arguing that THIS is the Catholic Church's end-state for immigration reform - American enslavement? ROTFL!
Mosaic Law makes reference to Israel being the rightful heirs and title-holders of the land, who are supposed to take physical possession of what they already hold the deed to. Further, once occupied, Mosaic Law applied to anyone and everyone that occupied said land. So once Israel crossed the Jordan River, anyone who occupies space inside the borders (legally or illegally) were now subject to the Mosaic Laws (including any that might govern citizenship and government handouts). And any "undocumented immigrants" who were allowed to stay as "strangers within the gates" were expected to learn and obey those laws themselves....
...when all Israel comes to appear before the LORD your God in the place which He chooses, you shall read this law before all Israel in their hearing.
Gather the people together, men and women and little ones, and the stranger who is within your gates, that they may hear and that they may learn to fear the LORD your God and carefully observe all the words of this law,
and that their children, who have not known it, may hear and learn to fear the LORD your God as long as you live in the land which you cross the Jordan to possess.”
