Armenian Church Irritates Turkey with Plans to Canonize Genocide Victims
La Stampa-Vatican Insider ^ | 10/7/13

The canonization ceremony should take place in 2015, a century after the massacre of 1,5 million Christians which was never recognised by the Turkish government

“In a move that has surprised Turkey, the Armenian Church is going to proceed with the canonization of the victims of the Armenian Genocide perpetrated by the Turkish State in 1915, using Kurdish labourers for the massacres. The scientifically perpetrated genocide by, is described by the Turkish historian Taner Akcam as "A shameful act" (the title of his book ) . But the Ankara government has never recognized it and rejects the definition of "genocide”,” missionary news agency AsiaNews reports.

“Sources quoted by Turkish newspapers say the canonization will take place in 2015, the centenary of the genocide of 1.5 million Armenians killed in Asia Minor.”

“The main source of this news” AsiaNews reports, is ASAM, the research centre of Turkey's Eurasian strategy, according to which the great synod of the Armenian Church was summoned to Yerevan the capital of ' Armenia. There is one important fact: for the first time after 400 years - that is, after 1651 - bishops who came from all over the world attended this synod: a real novelty in the history of the Armenian Church.”

It was a few years ago when this recognition was up for a vote and the U.S.treated it as a hot potato. Truth hurts.

Yes...and a lot of RINOs supported Islamic Turkey over Christian Armenia....because RINOS wanted Turkey to allow US planes to fly from Turkey during Iraq War. Turkey turned the US down anyway...and RINOS looked even more foolish supporting Islamic Genocide of Christians

We probably have some RINOS who would love to appease Islam by denying Holocaust ever happened

Historically (before Erdogan took power) Turkey was America's ally against the Communists while the Armenian Church was very pro-Soviet and left wing. In fact, the Armenian genocide has been a cause c'elebre for the Left for decades. Of course, the way the Left changes course, I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see things reversed 180 degrees now.

I actually attended an Armenian church one summer while I was "searching." Aside from the liturgy, all the homilies were very left wing, and the Catholicos in Etchmiadzin actually came out with a statement (this was 1990, the 75th anniversary of the genocide) that Armenian surivival depended on the USSR and no Armenian should be permitted to have the "wrong orientation."

Also, the Armenian Secret Army for the Liberation of Armenia was a Communist terrorist outfit that wanted to take eastern Turkey and annex it to the Soviet Union. The organization was created under the aegis of the Arafat and the Palestine Liberation Organization. Of course, some "palaeos" idoloze Arafat and the PLO.

We need to know all of this. Starts with the truth.

The scientifically perpetrated genocide

In what way was this genocide scientific?

The only reason I can see for this adverb is to implicitly tie it to Nazism, which is of course silly.

The Armenian massacres were of a much older Mongol type. Nothing scientific about them at all.

The story of what happened in eastern Anatolia during WWI is much more complex than the standard story of a Nazi-style genocide. Something along those lines was part of it, but it is much more complicated.

Turks were persecuting Armenians long before any communists around.
Even the latest Armenian holocaust took place circa 1915, before communist takeover in Russia.

You can’t blame Armenians for siding with communists later. It was their mean of survival.
