In recent weeks I’ve been asked to officiate at two weddings. That’s not all that uncommon. As a local pastor who has served in Kirkwood for over 10 years, I am privileged to help bless the marriage of several couples each year. What is uncommon, for this Baptist minister, is that these recent requests are same-sex couples.

I do this knowing it will make some people quite uncomfortable. It will make others angry. Very possibly I will lose some friends over this decision. But I genuinely believe that Christians generally, and Baptists specifically, should support the marriage of LGBT people. Moreover I believe the real pain of not recognizing the legitimacy of same-sex couples ought to be our real concern.

Same-sex marriage does not even conform with natural law, which is the basis of our Consitution, which is the supreme law of America.
