I’m listening to the streaming audio now. This may save my sanity when I’m doing my time in the purgatory of Free Republic! ;oD

Can you recommend other chant as well? (I’ve added the Palestrina. Thank you!) And I would like to put more on our site, but I don’t know what direction to go in.

Ha! I think you've got something there!! Did you access the chant from the link on the left hand side or from the webplayer on the right (99 Gregorian Chants)? We're going to add more (according to suggestions on this thread) pretty soon as well.

Yes, from the 99 Gregorian Chants.

I was glad to see the Missa De Angelis on there. If you want a suggestion, I'd love to also see the Missa Beata Maria Virgine --- it's ghe one I learned 50 years ago as a 7th grader. I don't know much about the Gregorian chant, but there's a recording here from Solesmes, and the ones I'm thinking of are listed here as the Kyrie 9, Gloria 9 , Sanctus 9, and Agnus Dei 9.

The Credo we used to use with the BVM Mass was Credo IV, here:

Oh, this brings back so much.

William Byrd and Thomas Tallis are the English counterparts to Palestrina.

If you know little, I know much less (and I thank you!), but I can usually still enjoy listening to chant even with my poor hearing. I liked both of those YouTubes you sent over. Which Missa Beata Maria Virgine do you like at this link? All, one, or none of them? I try to go by commentary as to quality, but it’s not always the best way to grab mp3s. http://www.amazon.com/Palestrina-Missa-De-Beata-Virgine/dp/B000QQOSIS/ref=tmm_other_meta_binding_title_0?ie=UTF8&qid=1388186951&sr=8-1 Thank you again!

I don't know how to answer that. It's all good.

As for me, we were just normal 7th graders, not musical prodigies. We read the little Gregorian square notes on a four-line staff, all singing the same tune, plainchant, not polyphony --- not Palestrina and Victoria with their exquisite interplay of different parts in the modern musical notation.

Anything you do will be gratefully received, I guarantee you that!
