Jesus didn’t talk about Gay Marriage or Abortion even once! >>

many democrats and pro-choicers say the same thing, they say “where is abortion mentioned in the new testament?” but one has to remember that Jesus was born at a time when all the Jews at that time were Orthodox and understood and obeyed the Mosaic law, He did not come to preach to the choir or preach about what the current Jew of the day already knew..Jesus said to Obey the commandments and pro life and pro marriage are part of the commandments...

anyway, I think our current Holy Father speaks off the cuff and extemporaneously...he needs to exercise some self control and take medication for his ADHD; also we had about 27 years of JPII and about 5 years of Benedict XVI and it seems we didn’t have to explain much about what they said to reporters, the press understood what the 2 previous holy fathers said... Pope Francis is there not even a year and it seems that we are constantly explaining what he was trying to say........I see a lot of “well, he really didn’t say that or he didn’t really mean that, and what he was trying to say is this .......and the press misunderstood what he said....

anyway, getting back to the title of the thread, the Holy Father should learn about the slippery slope...why would he be “shocked?” Once you condone civil unions, which many priests have, then comes gay marriage, gay adoptions and so on....there is no turning back...sorry to say abortion and gay marriage and gay adoptions are here to stay..
and when the man at the top tells the world that we are focusing too much on abortion and gay marriage the world interpreted that as those sins are no different than other sins....I was taught that those are sins are those that cry out to heaven... I guess that is no longer the case....

I wonder how many times fr/bishop/cardinal Bergoglio prayed in front of abortion clinics and participated in sidewalk counseling outside of the abortion mills.

Have a happy, holy and healthy new year!!!

I'm in general agreement with you about the wince-worthy things Pope Francis has said while speaking off the cuff. The man talks too much, and he lacks the careful, wise precision of dear Benedict, may God bless him forever! And Francs supposedly has a very sharp senior communications advisor Greg Burke, formerly of Fox News and a member of Opus Dei. What is HE doing to earn his salary??!

Aargh!!

As for the four sins that cry out to heaven for vengeance:

As I always tell my RCIA students, each of these --- like each of the Ten Commandments --- is not so much an item as a chapter heading. For instance, murder includes abortion, killing embryos in conjunction with stem cell harvesting or IVF, withdrawal of nutrition/hydration from the severely brain injured, drunk driving, unjust acts of war, targeting of civilians, terrorism, indiscriminate killing, etc. etc.

Same with sodomy: we're talking about any vile sexual offenses, and there's a whole catalog of them.

As for the last two, those cover all the REAL "Social Justice" offenses. I consider, for example, under "depriving the laborer of his wages", that excessive taxation, confiscatory fines, mandatory union dues in non-Right-to-Work states, are violations of this sort, Governments can be guilty of this, as well as unions and employers; in fact in the USA, I would consider Big Government THE major violator. As well as global corporations that pay their workers in Indonesia 50 cents an hour for making top brand athletic shoes --- when the same laborer would get $20 an hour in the USA.

Oppressing the widow, the orphan and the foreigner, are likewise "social" sins as well as individual sins.

So yes, abortion and the whole sad, pathetic, infuriating Gay agenda are sins that cry out to heaven. But not the only ones.
