Pro-abort Girl Scout CEO receives award at Mass from Cardinal Dolan
A Blog for Dallas Area Catholics ^ | April 24, 2013 | Blog

The current head of the Girls Scouts USA, Anna Maria Chavez, is a nominal Catholic with strong ties to numerous pro-abort politicians, and served as an apparatchik for the democrat party for many years. She has campaigned repeatedly for pro-abort politicians. And yet, in spite of the massive problems with the Girl Scouts overall, and their current CEO in particular, Cardinal Dolan saw fit to bestow an award on Ms. Chavez, the “St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Medal.”

I don’t understand. How do her actions not constitute an apostasy?

Is this the Cardinal Dolan who is in favor of universal healthcare?

Yeah, I know... it’s Dolan. But rank-n-file pew sitters continue to try and understand why their sins are more “sinful” than others’.

Cardinal O’Connor is spinning in his grave. Dolan has been a terrible, terrible disappointment.

I find it increasingly difficult to recognize the Catholic Church of my youth.

This is a classic example of preach does not match action or practice.

Matthew 21:28-31 NASB

“But what do you think? A man had two sons, and he came to the first and said, ‘Son, go work today in the vineyard.’ And he answered, ‘I will not’; but afterward he regretted it and went. The man came to the second and said the same thing; and he answered, ‘I will, sir’; but he did not go. Which of the two did the will of his father?” They said, “The first.” Jesus said to them, “Truly I say to you that the tax collectors and prostitutes will get into the kingdom of God before you.

I’ve never gotten over his wearing a cheesehead hat at Mass thing.

Now, who was it on another thread that was saying NO Catholic priests or bishops openly support abortion? Though this one may not overtly, he sure seems to covertly. I know he's not alone, either.

There is a new Catholic Girl’s group out too. I thought I brought the title upstairs, but didn’t. I’ll see if I can search for it.

Perhaps Cardinal Dolan favors the Girl Scout hierarchy because he is queer himself.

It is the classic case of “do as I say, but pay no attention to what I do.” The RC American bishops and cardinals all supported obamacare when it was proposed. They had to know Obama was not going to give exemptions to the churches and faith based organisations. Even if they thought the churches would get contraceptive and abortion exemptions WRT obamacare, society would still advance further into the culture of death and immorality with it passed. Yet they act surprised now and call obamacare intrusive. Why then did they support it in the first place?

The answer is social justice, the liberation theology wing of the RC church saw seeing the physical needs of the poor higher than life issues and other morals like sex change operations being paid for. So we see the actual priorities for at least the American RC clergy.

Back to the “what one says should equal what one does” theme we have this which tells us actions are louder than words:

Matthew 21:28-32 NASB

“But what do you think? A man had two sons, and he came to the first and said, ‘Son, go work today in the vineyard.’ And he answered, ‘I will not’; but afterward he regretted it and went. The man came to the second and said the same thing; and he answered, ‘I will, sir’; but he did not go. Which of the two did the will of his father?” They said, “The first.” Jesus said to them, “Truly I say to you that the tax collectors and prostitutes will get into the kingdom of God before you. For John came to you in the way of righteousness and you did not believe him; but the tax collectors and prostitutes did believe him; and you, seeing this, did not even feel remorse afterward so as to believe him.

Yes. And it’s the same Dolan who said of the pro-abortion governor of New York, Paterson, that: “He’s a Catholic who takes his Christian faith very seriously.”

There are countless examples of Dolan showing that he doesn’t think being pro-abortion is any big deal.
