Skip to comments.Disgusting .. Coast to Coast (last night)
Posted on 04/07/2014 3:22:42 PM PDT by stirrinthepuddin
I don't normally care what a person believes when it comes to one's faith, well I do but I don't argue with them.
Last night though .. I was outraged!
Am I the only one to have heard the program?
There was some author who claimed history shows that the Apostle Paul hated Jesus and that he was the anti-Christ!
He claimed that Paul distorted and twisted scripture and distorted the sayings of Jesus to fit his own (Paul's) anti-Christ views.
What really confused me though was this authors claim that Jesus had tried his best to covert Paul and become one of the twelve apostles?
Was Paul living in that time?
Anyway the whole program was disgusting and I didn't last long!/rant
Are you talking about George Noory’s show?
I stopped listening to that moron years ago. He ruined Coast to Coast.
It does not surprise me that he had a guest on like that.
Paul wasn’t mentioned until after Christ’s ascent. If I remember he was first referred to as a jr toadie holding the coats of the Sanhedrin who stoned Stephen.
This just seems ahistorical or uninformed.
At least back in the day Art Bell was a reasonable good interviewer.
How this program continues is a mystery. Perhaps I should get a discount ouija board to find out.
There is virtually nothing in broadcast radio at night, or any other time, to listen to.
Tooooo many commercials Jorge.
The author is nuts. But you probably have to be to get on the show.
The only time Paul met Jesus was on the road to Damascus, AFTER the resurrection. Paul did hate Christians but then after his conversion on the road he became the main evangelist for Christianity.
I fail to understand why someone would allow themselves to get so worked up about someone else’s opinion.
There's another show, aimed at the Night Shift and truck drivers instead of the ghost story crowd, I've caught over a couple of the old 50K watt stations.
Can't remember their names, right now. But they're conservative "periscopes up into reality."
All that has to be done is to read Acts. Before Paul became a Christian he was their prosecutor and his name was Saul. God struck him blind for a while and gave him a vision for he was suppose to do. Paul was probably the person that spread the Gospel the most, specially to the gentiles and we probably wouldn’t have a church here today if it wasn’t for Paul.
Look into “Caravan To Midnight” hosted by John B Wells, who did Saturday nights on C2C for a while. He’s very Art Bell-y. If you liked Art, and who didn’t, you’ll enjoy John B Wells...
Dissing Paul of Tarsus is quite popular. If this is the first time you’ve become aware of it, you have not been conversing with atheists or religious liberals.
That trucker’s show is on 700 AM Cincinatti, and is called America’s Trucking Network. Great show. When propagation is good, a decent radio will pick it up just fine.
They’re on some bird as well, but I’m an all-night DXer, and I don’t do bird...
I have nothing to with C2C since they fired John B. Wells.
"... former minister for the Assemblies of God Church, Jeffrey Daugherty, discussed evidence for how the message of Jesus was changed by the Apostle Paul in order to create a structure to control the general populace of the Roman Empire. This structure has grown and morphed and has now set the stage for the New World Order, he argued. Paul came into the picture after the death of Jesus, and was not actually one of the 12 Apostles, Daugherty suggested. He was hand picked by the Roman Emperor Nero to de-emphasize Christ's message that the kingdom lies within each person, and they don't require the guidance of an outside emperor or king, he continued.
"Paul was spinning the popularity of the Jesus message of salvation but trying to put it back under the sinner needing a savior type of scenario...crafting a beautiful guilded cage out of what Jesus had provided," Daugherty explained. America's third president, Thomas Jefferson, complained about how Jesus' message had been usurped. "Of this band of dupes and impostors, Paul was the...first corrupter of the doctrines of Jesus," he wrote. Paul acted as a kind of double agent, and killed James the Just (called the brother of Jesus), Daugherty added."
The show is only fun if you like following the shtick that goes on there, namely spinning lengthy yarns made of nothing. It is an art form however I don’t think they are that good at it.
I agree they are boring, Art Bell used to scare me now and then.
You’d probably get better information on “Space Ghost Coast-to-Coast”
Yes and there was no push back from him!
“show, aimed at the Night Shift and truck drivers”
“Red Eye Radio”?
Noory loves obozo. ‘nuff said
I don’t know, I guess it is because I don’t like Paul being called the anti-Christ.
I also don’t like him being portrayed as hating Jesus.
(The way the author talked .. Jesus and Paul were enemies and he wasn’t talking about when Paul was known as Saul)
I know, it is not how one should react .. I have no excuse, I was just upset and wondered if anyone else (on FR) had heard the show.
As has been pointed out, Catholics like Noory imagine themselves quite sophisticated compared to those kooky Protestant fundamentalists.
Eric Harley and Gary McNamara (sp?)
They are Fantastic!
Have to get them on the pc because they aren’t on in this market.
I think they are out of Texas?
it was blaspmeous
So you listened to a show that specializes in putting crackpot theories and whackadoodles on the air, and then got mad because your heard some crazy author spewing nonsense? Seriously?
You gotta find a better way to spend your time when your bored. Listen to some music, read a book, etc. Coast to Coast is not to be taken seriously...ever.
You can listen to Red Eye Radio on IHeart. Very convenient! I agree with you that they’re great. Funny and smart and fair.
Listening to them also teaches me a little about truckers and their concerns, which is very interesting and increases my already high respect for them.
That's the trouble with Noory. It's one thing to have kooky guests, but it's quite another thing to blindly accept everything they have to say, without any discussion whatsoever.
Maybe he feels he has to be the rubber stamp just to get guests for the show. But, in fact, he would get them anyway because the guests are mainly there to promote their latest books.
The show is really just an infomercial.
Red Eye Radio! I catch a podcast now and then. They are smart and entertaining.
And they don’t talk about chemtrails, the illuminati or shadow people (yes, I too listened to Coast to Coast when I was working late in years past). I thought it was funny C2C had a “Wild Card line” when nearly every call was pretty wild in the “hi, I’m nuts” sense.
Been listening to Eric and Gary for a couple of years now.
I, like you try to spread the word about their show.
They are the best I have ever heard (even better than Rush) at explaining almost everything!
Putting rhetoric into layman’s terms where “Even I” can understand it! 8)
No, there were probably four or five other numbnuts tuned in.
IMO, the contemporary anti-Paul crowd is trying to undermine his credibility because of his teachings on same-sex relationships.
I heard it too. Very strange. Paul killed James. A stand in Jesus rose from the dead, for the dead Jesus of course. Quite odd and scant to non existent scriptural support.
It's entertaining to me which is why I listen to some of the shows.
If listening gets you worked up then just tune out like I do when the Crazy
guests come on, like that Linda Howe Earth worshiping psycho.
Read the last part of Matthew then read the Acts of the Apostles (Acts). An apostle was chosen: "And they gave forth their lots; and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles."
Matthias replaced Judas. Paul came along later, but was eventually considered "an" apostle, but not the 12th.
I love listening to the Red Eye guys. I think they are my 2nd favorite behind Rush, to be honest.
Gay marriage started out as an opinion.
I used to listen to coast-to-coast regularly, but Noory is nice guy who does not have the edge or the challenging programming of Art Bell.
Red Eye Radio aka Midnight Truckers Radio Network?
I refer to her as “Linda Mutton Howl”
Red Eye Radio's pretty good.
And I have been trying to spread the word about Iheart Radio as a way to listen to shows like John Batchelor, RedEye, and other favorites that may not be available in your area.
I used to listen to Noory and found amusement in all of the weirdness and stupidity. Then I realized that I was being contemptuous and uncharitable toward callers who were genuinely unhappy or mentally ill. I felt ashamed of myself and stopped listening. Now if I have to be up late working, I listen to recordings from EWTN or YouTube vids. The truth is that I love Eric and Gary but by the time they come on, I’ve been listening to many hours of political radio, and my mind needs a rest.
Sounds to me like standard Catholic-bashing, except he’s pushing the Great Betrayal back from Constantine all the way to Paul. Not really original. The liberals and modernists have hated Paul for centuries.
I’m always amused by these people who seem to think that when Jesus promised to remain with his Church until the end of time, he was referring exclusively to some 35-member church in Arkansas.
“There’s another show, aimed at the Night Shift and truck drivers instead of the ghost story crowd,”
The “red eye’ network. It’s out of WBAP in Texas and is on several of the 50,000 watt stations
George Snoory absolutely ruined Coast to Coast.
I am not defending the author who spoke on Coast to Coast - did not listen to the program & have no idea who he is/was.
While there can be many arguments for why that author is wrong to call Paul someone who worked against Yeshua and created a false gospel about Him; and good arguments that that author does not have independent proof of his position; many things that Christian’s take as irrefutable about Paul have only the word of Paul himself, and Luke - believed to be an assistant of Paul’s and the author of Acts as “proof”.
Did the elders in Jerusalem - led by James the Just, brother of Yeshua, have a different view than Paul about Paul himself, about his mission, about his conversion, about his Christian theology?? The fact that if they did disagree deeply with Paul we are missing a record of it is also NOT proof there never was such things recorded or that if recorded they were not lost in the final sacking of Jerusalem in the Roman wars against the Jews or that such records were not lost during the final diaspora from Jerusalem at that time, when those in the church in Jerusalem are thought to have escaped to Petra if they escaped at all.
Does any of that make the author’s view “right”? No. But it shows there is a case for questioning the circular logic that simply accepts Paul without question because Paul says so.
The author is certainly not the first to question the bonafides of Paul.
That’s the dumbest reply ever.
Oh, come on now - George has the best fake laugh in all of radio.
- and we get to hear it every three minutes!
Red Eye Radio is awesome. IMHO Eric and Gary are second only to Rush. I listen to them every night.
There are a lot of nutty nut nutties on the radio. :-)
And they probably all vote! 8(
