The Alliance of Baptists has expressed support for a legal challenge launched by religious leaders in North Carolina to overturn the state’s ban on gay marriage.
At its annual meeting May 3 in Portland, Maine, the Alliance voted to “stand in solidarity” with a suit filed in a federal district court in Charlotte April 28 by the United Church of Christ. The UCC claims that North Carolina is unconstitutionally restricting religious freedom by barring clergy members from marrying gay couples.
In a resolution, the Alliance, which has affirmed same-sex marriage since 2004, said “we rise today to stand in solidarity with the United Church of Christ in its decision to file a lawsuit ….”

Forbid, permit, require. That’s how the clergy should look at it. First, the law forbids it, then the law permits it, the next is that the law will require it. It’s already happening with making wedding cakes and wedding photos, just a matter of time until the clergy will not be able to deny the sacrament of matrimony or any other sacrament to anyone who demands it. Jail time if you do.

Have you ever seen so many wolves in sheep’s clothing appear who call themselves names which imply they stand for good but are, in fact, evil? Prior to Obama we might have seen this type of thing occassionally but not near as often as we do today. It’s as if he opened the door to hell when he ascended the throne. In fact when I think about the chaos that reined own on Christians since he took office I wonder if we are llivng right smack at the end times and that the Soros / Obama pairing refers to this bible verse:

“And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?”
You have to wonder if the dragon refers to evil in general not just Satan...

Every time you hear stories about “churches” starting to “change”...they are not real Churches and have been leftist homosexuals from the start just this group.
Baptist? Really? You would actively seek to destroy God’s Word? You call yourselves Christians? How? Why?

I don’t know. The only time I’ve ever seen these law come up is when clergy/pastors point to them when they refuse to marry two people without the state being in on it, usually widowed couples who don’t want benefits disrupted. I have never heard of anyone being prosecuted for it, but then I have never heard a pastor who lives in a state with such a law acting like it is no big deal either.
How many states have these types of laws, and why do they have them?

There is NOTHING so eloquently speaking of the Church as martyrdom. St. David was roasted alive. Church legend has it that after a few minutes of this he asked to be "turned over to the other side."
Protestant churches have all those Catholic martyrs to thank for spreading the word of God with their sufferings and deaths. Many Protestant churches are named after these holy men and women.
I personally don't have a phobia about homosexuals. Maybe disgust and nausea but definitely not a fear (phobia).

I think Jimmy Carter left his Southern Baptist Church and identifies with the Alliance of Baptists or something similar to it.
Since “Baptist” churches are historically independent and local, you cannot look at it as an alignment of Baptist denominations UNLESS you specifically see something like “The American Baptist Church” in their list of member churches.
However, my experience with North Carolina Baptists says that these are radically different than the standard NC church that has “Baptist” on the sign out front. Baptists in NC tend to be bible believing, fundamental, and God fearing. Therefore, this group’s name “Alliance of Baptists” is deception beyond measure.
I speak this as a Methodist minister, but I don’t like it when anyone lies about any denomination: Catholic, Methodist, Baptist...you name it. I see such deception as an effort to brainwash.
Not sure I’d call it a lie, they are outside the majority opinion among baptists in NC to be sure though. The Baptist/Evangelical approach of local autonomy allows for a very wide amount of divergence. No one owns the definition baptist and thats the dilemma naturally.
