What evidence do you have of this particular Pope, who I have much disagreement with, equating Muslims with Christians?

Well, let's say that since "this particular Pope" is the head of the Roman Catholic Church (the alleged "Vicar of Christ"), and the Roman Catholic Church teaches the following (found in its catechism):

841 The Church's relationship with the Muslims. "The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind's judge on the last day."

Seems like the equating is pretty obvious. And this goes beyond what was said by the popester when he referred to them as "dear brothers," and "brothers and sisters" -- the bold and underlining above pretty much says it all: the Roman Catholic Church is preaching heresy: the plan of salvation set forth by God Almighty has EVERYTHING to do with his Son Jesus, our Savior and Lord and our need for him as the propitiation for our sins; Mohammedans definitely don't subscribe to this, but the CCC seems to include them....

Ok, so you are admitting that what the popester said specifically, does not equate Muslims as Christians.

Your problem is with the actual religion of the Catholic Church.

At least we’ve made progress in specifics. And I’m personally shocked that a non Catholic would find Catholic teaching, somehow, heretical, ironic as that may be.

Uh... no. YOU are saying I said that.

Nice try, though.

You are correct in that I find Catholic teaching to be horribly in error; but I still find the quote of the pope to imply that, according to RCC teaching and what he said, somehow Christians and Mohammedans are somehow on equal footing.

“Seems like the equating is pretty obvious. “

Not at all. Plucking a portion of the catechism out in isolation is no more substantive than plucking an isolated verse out of Scripture.

You are wrong in your interpretation of 841 and you only have to go to 839 to see why.

If you want true understanding of what you misinterpret, read 839 and you will see that it is talking about the relationship between The Church and non Christians, including Jewish people and Muslims. As Jews are part of God’s Salvation plan, so are the Muslims. The truth found in any non Christian religion is, the parts that are true, is seen as a preparation for the Full Truth of the Gospel.

844 and 845 get a little more pointed in regard to those deceived. And 846 will just open up a whole other can of worms and blow the mind.

You need to read that page and a half in its entirety.

I have...many times. And the only ones deceived are those who believe the false teaching of the RCC.

Reading comprehension courses are available at community colleges throughout the nation. That’s a starting point.

How very droll. The CCC is as wrong on this point as it is in its false teaching that Mary is somehow our "mediatrix":

969 "This motherhood of Mary in the order of grace continues uninterruptedly from the consent which she loyally gave at the Annunciation and which she sustained without wavering beneath the cross, until the eternal fulfillment of all the elect. Taken up to heaven she did not lay aside this saving office but by her manifold intercession continues to bring us the gifts of eternal salvation . . . . Therefore the Blessed Virgin is invoked in the Church under the titles of Advocate, Helper, Benefactress, and Mediatrix."512

Yet, God's inspired word says the opposite in 1 Tim. 2:5.....

For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,

So, if the CCC can be so fundamentally in error about this simple truth, I can easily see how terribly wrong it and the RCC are about so many other issues, among them the original topic of discussion.

If that's all you've got, we're done here. Take care.

The pope kissing the koran. Fits right in with the Catechism of the Catholic church.

Shifting sands argument from you, due to you being ignorant on teaching of the Catholic Church.

There is nothing in these statements by the Pope, that is really new territory. Except for those who are looking for the double helix conspiracy Illuminati trash for the weak-minded.

Shifting sands argument from you, due to you being ignorant on teaching of the Catholic Church.

Again, how droll. Google must be your friend.

My argument has nothing to do with shifting sands, nor my "ignorance" of the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church - instead, it appeals to God's Word, the Scriptures, inspired and inerrant -- a solid, immovable and unshakable foundation!

I cannot help that the Roman Catholic Church's own teachings go against God's own word. I can lament that Roman Catholics are being brainwashed into believing a false gospel. How do YOU reconcile that the Bible teaches that there is only one mediator between God and man, Christ Jesus, and the CCC teaching that Mary is a "mediatrix"?? Which is correct? God's own inspired word, or man's false teaching? If you say the former, you go against the RCC; you say the latter, you subscribe to a false gospel.

The only shifting sands I see in this whole discussion is the foundation upon which the Roman Catholic Church is built and the false gospel it teaches.

Again, nice try.

Take care.
