Pope Francis: ‘Pius XII’s Cause for Beatification has Stalled’
The Catholic Herald (UK) ^ | 5/27/14

The Cause of Pius XII for beatification has stalled, Pope Francis told reporters during an in-flight press conference on his return to Rome from the Holy Land, according to reports.

Francis was asked whether he might declare Pope Pius XII, the wartime pontiff who some claim did not do enough to oppose Nazi atrocities against Jews, a Blessed.

“The Cause is open, I looked into it and no miracle has been found yet,” he said, according to Vatican Insider. “So the process has stalled. We have to respect the reality of this Cause. But there’s no miracle and at least one is required for beatification. I can’t think of whether I will beatify him or not.”

Francis gave John XXIII a pass on miracles; but I guess his “charity” doesn’t extend to pre-conciliar popes.

I heard he also slighted Pope Pius X on his recent trip to the Middle East.

Miracles are NOT always necessary. A person can be canonized by ACCLAIM. I learned that a while back.

” A person can be canonized by ACCLAIM. I learned that a while back.”

Not anymore in the West. That is only possible in the East these days.

Yep Pius XII isn’t part of the Vatican II big boy club. He also isn’t well-liked by the Jews.

I’d much rather know what he’s thinking. For those Catholics willing to hear, it’s extremely “enlightening”.

“He also isn’t well-liked by the Jews”

Only ignorant Jews that don’t know their history.

Slighted a Saint and honored an atheist.

Whatever happened with this? I’m sure there are others out there as well.

No, the Jews that have Francis’ ear.

Since the Messiah, the Apostles, the blessed Virgin, and possibly every author of Holy Scripture are Jews, I'm good with that.

Clearly you missed the point,

which was to criticize Pope Francis and the Jews; especially the Jews, since it is their fault having led Pope Francis astray; is that your point ?

You mean it was wrong for me to criticize the fact that Francis has no interest in moving Pius XII’s beatification forward but at the same time removes other requirements for the VII popes ? Especially when it also happens to be the one pre-Vatican II pope that gets a lot of heat from (certain) Jews?

And to make matters worse you go on to explain it away by saying that it’s aok because when we talk about the Jews that have Francis’ ears we’re somehow talking about Francis getting his directives from the Apostles, etc because they were once Jewish?

And no this isn’t about placing blame “especially on the Jews”. It is totally Francis’ fault.

etc because they were once Jewish?

Not once, but always.

Do you think Pope Francis is lying when he gives his reasons for not moving forward at this time ? Is this an issue that in some way affects the other Popes souls ?
