Who Do You Say That I Am? The question is doubly crucial in our day because not every Jesus is the real Jesus. ______________________________________________
Theres Hippie Jesus who teaches everyone to give peace a chance, imagine a world without religion, and helps us remember all you need is love. Theres Yuppie Jesus who encourages us to reach our full potential, reach for the stars, and buy a boat. Theres Spirituality Jesus who hates religion, churches, pastors, priests, and doctrine; he wants us to find the god within and listening to ambiguously spiritual musical.
The greatness of God is most clearly displayed in his Son. And the glory of the gospel is only made evident in his Son. Thats why Jesus question to his disciples is so important: Who do you say that I am?
The question is doubly crucial in our day because not every Jesus is the real Jesus. Almost no one is as popular in this country as Jesus. Hardly anyone would dare to say a bad word about him. Just look at what a super-fly friendly dude he is over there. But how many people know the real Jesus?
Theres Republican Jesus who is against tax increases and activists judges, and for family values and owning firearms.
Theres Democrat Jesus who is against Wall Street and Walmart, and for reducing our carbon footprint and spending other peoples money.
Theres Therapist Jesus who helps us cope with lifes problems, heals our past, tells us how valuable we are and not to be so hard on ourselves.
Theres Starbucks Jesus who drinks fair trade coffee, loves spiritual conversations, drives a hybrid and goes to film festivals.
Theres Open-minded Jesus who loves everyone all the time no matter what, except for people who are not as open-minded as you.
Theres Touchdown Jesus who helps athletes run faster and jump higher than non-Christians and determines the outcomes of Super Bowls.
Theres Martyr Jesus, a good man who died a cruel death so we can feel sorry for him.
Theres Gentle Jesus who was meek and mild, with high cheek bones, flowing hair, and walks around barefoot, wearing a sash and looks German.
Theres Platitude Jesus, good for Christmas specials, greeting cards, and bad sermons; he inspires people to believe in themselves, and lifts us up so we can walk on mountains.
Theres Revolutionary Jesus who teaches us to rebel against the status quo, stick it to the man, and dream up impossible utopian schemes.
Theres Guru Jesus, a wise, inspirational teacher who believes in you and helps you find your center.
Theres Boyfriend Jesus who wraps his arms around us as we sing about his intoxicating love in our secret place.
Theres Good Example Jesus who shows you how to help people, change the planet, and become a better you.
And then theres Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God. Not just another prophet. Not just another Rabbi. Not just another wonder-worker. He was the one they had been waiting for: the Son of David and Abrahams chosen seed, the one to deliver us from captivity, the goal of the Mosaic law, Yahweh in the flesh, the one to establish Gods reign and rule, the one to heal the sick, give sight to the blind, freedom to the prisoners and proclaim good news to the poor, the lamb of God come to take away the sins of the world.
This Jesus was the Creator come to earth and the beginning of a new creation. He embodied the covenant, fulfilled the commandments, and reversed the curse. This Jesus is the Christ that God spoke of to the serpent, the Christ prefigured to Noah in the flood, the Christ promised to Abraham, the Christ prophesied through Balaam before the Moabites, the Christ guaranteed to Moses before he died, the Christ promised to David when he was king, the Christ revealed to Isaiah as a suffering servant, the Christ predicted through the prophets and prepared for through John the Baptist.
This Christ is not a reflection of the current mood or the projection of our own desires. He is our Lord and God. He is the Fathers Son, Savior of the world, and substitute for our sins-more loving, more holy, and more wonderfully terrifying than we ever thought possible.
AMEN
And then there’s your Lord and Savior, The Obama, The Messiah, The Won.
And if you disagree, you’re obviously racist.
Oh..........that old, beat-up race card has been DECLINED.
I’ve never seen that version before. Where’s it from?
The real ‘Jesus’ wasn’t born on December 25 or raised on easter Sun’s day either..
That is the greco roman latin version Jesus..
Guessing that most of Christendom worships that Jesus.
Revelation speaks much on the topic of worship. And mentions a satanic trinity that will break the first four commandments and cause others to do the same..
And think to change times and laws as Daniel put it..
That is exactly what happened and is happening today..
And rome is guilty.
We couldn’t prove it unless Rome changed the commandments or had a calendar that could change time.
Considering the world runs on the ‘pope’ Gregory (gregorian) calendar today, that is a rather big ‘checkmark’ next to change time.
All we need is to see if Rome has changed laws.they do seem to number theirs differently with one of the ten sort of hidden (idol/graven image)
And because of their calendar and easter Sunday, have changed the Sabbath..
Another check mark..
Not sure I want any part of that roman Jesus of December 25 and easter Sunday..
Not as real as we were led to believe by our fathers.. that worship may leave a mark..
I just found it but where I nabbed called it the “updated” version. I like it.
Yes, I do too. It reminds me of the Shroud, only more modern.
Problem is, there’s no spending limit on the race card.
And the Left knows it.
Bump
We have had a lot of discussion about Joel Osteen and his teachings, well I was reading through the list and I think he teaches the Yuppie Jesus. What think you?
As Peter said, “you are the Christ, the Son of the Living God.”
According to the shroud, Jesus was not buried wearing the crown of thorns. And the eyes should be closed. Other than that...
There are a couple of Osteen abominations in this article, the Yuppie Jesus certainly is one of them.
I think this one fits too: Therapist Jesus who helps us cope with lifes problems, heals our past, tells us how valuable we are and not to be so hard on ourselves.
Two men say they’re Jesus
One of them must be wrong....
“I think this one fits too: Therapist Jesus who helps us cope with lifes problems, heals our past, tells us how valuable we are and not to be so hard on ourselves”
Right on, right on, right on!
***And because of their calendar and easter Sunday, have changed the Sabbath..****
And every EASTER and CHRISTMAS the sabbatharians ( Armstrongists, Church of God 7the day, Seventh Day Adventists) drag out these tired old arguments which have been thrashed around on FR for the last 14 years, as if they had found something new! It gets old real quick.
