Cath. School, With Priest’s Backing, Suspends Theology Teacher for Defending Marriage on Facebook

SOMMERVILLE, NJ, March 18, 2015 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A Catholic high school in New Jersey has suspended a 30-year veteran theology teacher for making comments on her personal Facebook page supporting the Catholic Church's position on homosexual "marriage" and family.

Controversy struck when Patricia Jannuzzi, a theology teacher at Immaculata High School in Sommerville, New Jersey, said that she opposed the legal arguments homosexual activists used to persuade the Supreme Court to redefine marriage.

“One minute they argue hey [sic] are born this way and it is not a choice to get 14th amendment rights equal protection” – which was intended for “unchangeable characteristics such as race and disability,” she wrote. Then, “they will argue everyone should be able to choose” to engage in the homosexual lifestyle.

That juggernaut threatened to “reengineer Western civ[ilization] into a slow extinction.”

“We need healthy families with a mother and a father for the sake of the children and humanity,” she concluded.

Her personal post was seen by a former student and soon exploded into an angry, viral boycott involving a D-list Hollywood star and a starlet of a bygone era.

Immaculata alumnus Scott Lyons sent a message to Jannuzzi, posting it on his own Facebook page. He admitted, “I found your classes and teaching during my time at IHS to be focused on love and acceptance.”

But he said he now has “a husband and we have a child together.”

Though he claims to “respect the fact that people have different opinions on the matter,” he instructed Jannuzzi “to be careful with your words and the messaging you are putting out there.”

“[T]he words that you have been throwing out there are detrimental to the well-being and health of the youth that you inspire. I am certain that the Pope himself would take issue with.....

Thrown under the bus by her priest and her bishop who has done nothing to stop this.

Very dangerous time to be a faithful Catholic. We've been thrown to the wolves.......literally.

Obama is not doing this, nor is Eric Holder. The church is participating in its own dismantling and dilution of influence. Same as in England.

God is about to show that all organized religion is to be avoided and to put faith in Christ alone through faith alone.

Both are probably queer. The Catholic Church, and the USA, are both being dismantled from within. Wake up America!

< “I left this school after being told in religion class I must live a celibate single life if I had gay ‘feelings,’”wrote Doug Bednarczyk, according to the New York Daily News.>

OMG! He actually learned the correct Church teaching!

< Last Friday, the school announced that Jannuzzi “has been put on administrative leave, effective immediately.” The letter, signed by church pastor Monsignor Seamus Brennan and principal Jean Kline, professed its “intolerance of discriminatory behaviors of any kind.” >

OMG! The Monsignor may be in grave error!

Wow. Things are really getting so demented in this country. This instance ratchets it up another notch. But I guess there’s just no bottom, once a country embraces evil and depravity. And that’s America-2015 in a nutshell.

"I will build my Church." --- Jesus Christ

Got no use for that, CynicalBear? Jesus "built" His Church for nothing, right?

SHE DESERVES MORE THAN HAND-WRINGING.
SHE DESERVES OUR ACTIVE SUPPORT!

LET'S DO THIS THING!

"Our family is about to lose our health benefits. Our mother has recently and successfully battled breast cancer without missing a single day of teaching, except for the day of her operation," her family wrote in a desperate online plea.

The family is hoping to raise $100,000 from the crowdfunding website YouCare.com. [As of this writing, they have collected just over $23,000 from 191 supporters.]

The words are "I will build my ekklēsian". The word comes from ek, "out from and to" and kaléō, "to call". Those called out from the world and to Christ. The English word "church" comes from the Greek word kyriakos, "belonging to the Lord" (kyrios) which is NOT used in regards to anything Christ started other than the Lord's supper and the day of the Lord.

The Catholic Church corruption of the term "church" is a concept not found in scripture. Jesus didn't build a church, He's building an assembly of those called out of the world to be God's children which consists of all those who put their faith in Christ alone through faith alone. The Catholic Church is a counterfeit.

That called out assembly will be unaffected by the apostasy of the organized religions such as the Catholic Church and many others. God said "Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues."

Jesus didn't build the Catholic Church. It was built by Nicolaitan power hungry apostates.

Welcome to the club. I felt the church left me years ago when they determined that a Kennedy could do whatever he wanted and still get a divorce.

That, followed by the child-boinking priest club, was the last straw.

Now, of course, we have the non-Catholic Catholic Universities, accompanied evidently by the non-Catholic Catholic schools.

Not to mention a completely loony pope.

Sigh........

Do not get hung up too much by the etymology of English words. “Church” is used in English to translate the Latin term “ecclesia” which comes directly from the Greek. Catholic theology, which developed in Latin, is quite familiar with what “ecclesia” means. Jesus created an ecclesia that was lead by Peter and the Apostles. That same leadership today is exercised by their successors, the Pope and the bishops.

Even the Word of God says she is right.

Genesis 1

English Standard Version (ESV)

26 Then God said, “Let us make man[h] in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

27 So God created man in his own image,
    in the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them.

28 And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” 29 And God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit. You shall have them for food. 30 And to every beast of the earth and to every bird of the heavens and to everything that creeps on the earth, everything that has the breath of life, I have given every green plant for food.” And it was so. 31 And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.

Even without reference to the historic Catholic Church ---- if we can prescind from that for the sake of discussion ---- it is necessary that this ekklesia of Christ have a visible as well as an invisible aspect, because Christ says one must go to His ekklesia for the adjudication of disputes: (Matthew 18:17) "If they still refuse to listen, tell it to the church [ekklesia]..."

They could not tell it to any ekklesia if there were no identifiable, visible ekklesia.

The New Testament uses the word "ekklesia" over 100 times, [as you say, substituting the exact Greek word "ekklesia" for "church"] and very often as the subject of a verb:

Now an ekklesia which has no visible, locatable existence can not do all these things (decide, choose, send, etc.).

Separation from this visible ekklesia would be separation from the Body of Christ, would it not?

The church is participating in its own dismantling and dilution of influence.

Not dismantled: split into factions. You might have seen the words of warning from Akita: “The work of the devil will infiltrate even into the Church in such a way that one will see cardinals opposing cardinals, bishops against other bishops.” - Our Lady of Akita, October 13, 1973.

The way to identify the wrong side is to ask: "Which side suppresses tradition; promotes change in the Church?".

>>Do not get hung up too much by the etymology of English words.<<

Matthew 4:4 "It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God."

Matthew 12:36-37, "But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned."

Proverbs 6:2, "Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth."

Proverbs 30:5-6, "Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. Add thou not unto , lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar."

>>“Church” is used in English to translate the Latin term “ecclesia” which comes directly from the Greek.<<

Christ's ekklesia is not the Church. The word ekklesia has nothing to do with the word Church in any language. The Catholic Church has corrupted the meaning of the word ekklesia and tried to make it mean something it doesn't. All too many people have fallen for that corruption. It was Satan's way of obscuring the true meaning of God's word.

I most certainly will get "hung up" on the words used, especially when they are used to obscure the true meaning of God's word.

There is no one in the leadership of the Catholic Church today who qualifies under the Holy Spirit's guidelines given through Paul to Timothy. They are thus usurpers.
