Norway's Lutheran Church Votes in Favor of Same-Sex Marriage

Norway's Lutheran Church voted on Monday in favor of allowing same-sex marriage, becoming the latest of a small but growing number of churches worldwide to do so.

Last year the French Protestant Church allowed gay marriage blessings, while the U.S. Presbyterian Church approved a change in the wording of its constitution to include same-sex marriage.

In a vote at the annual conference of the Norwegian Lutheran Church on Monday 88 delegates out of 115 in total backed same-sex marriage.

"Finally we can celebrate love independently of whom one falls in love with," said Gard Sandaker-Nilsen, leader of the Open Public Church, a religious movement within the church that had campaigned to change the rules.

Under the new rules, priests who do not want to marry a same-sex couple will still have the right to object.

The vote by Norway's Lutheran Church reflects increasingly liberal attitudes in wider Norwegian society to issues such as homosexuality.

Norway became the second country in the world after Denmark to allow same-sex registered partnerships in 1993. The Nordic country of 5.2 million people has allowed civil same-sex marriage since 2009.

Some 74 percent of Norwegians were members of the Lutheran Church last year, according to the national statistics agency, but that number has been declining.

"Finally we can celebrate love independently of whom one falls in love with,"

God has made His ruling on the subject. Altering His rules will not change that, and only serve to mislead millions to misery and the Dark One.

Not mine either. How does a church fall away like that and still read the Bible on Sunday?

if only there were a rule that organizations using the word “church” have to preach (and try to follow) Biblical teaching... and certrainly avoid “legitimizing” things which God has told us are abhorrant to Him

its mis-labeling, false advertising
and will undoubtably lead many innocent people astray

The apostasy continues. And we know what comes after that.

Yeah, but who should we let define the term ‘Lutheran Christian’ for us? I mean holy cow I know which ones I would pick, it’s not these guys. And even then, there the ones that are going to die on the sword and never leave these particular Lutherans. The good ones that don’t split for whatever reason. Who should define these guys as this actual flavor of Lutheran for other sorts of Christians, the good 1% or the 99%?

They “re-interpret” the Bible; I’ve had Christians insist to me that Jesus didn’t drink wine or change water into wine - it was “grape juice” (and they say it with a straight face).

The self-fixated who have abandoned their Christian and Jewish religions don’t even realize that they have. They just believe what they want to believe, regardless of a mountain of evidence, a preponderance of the evidence to the contrary. These people are not evidence based in their thinking.

I like to call the true Lutheran churches (LCMS, WELS, LCMC) confessional Lutherans or those that still hold to the Augsburg confession I wish the rest of them would call themselves something else Luther certainly wouldn’t recognize them and sadly neither will Christ

Yeah, but as a Christian, who should define these guys for you, the actual Christians or what? I guess my point is why let the stiffs that can’t even get the simple stuff right define things for folks that know better.

Norway’s been importing islamics ( with the usual rapes and assaults etc). This church change is yet a further sign of societal decay and eventually national suicide — if not reversed Very sad so much if this Krap is going down these days, as with Obama in USA and the garbage in much of Europe . Very sad.

It is written, my house shall be a house of prayer, but you have turned it into a den of depravity.

Time to overturn the marriage-changers’ tables. This LCMS elder stands with God, for he can do no other.

Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones.

In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.

(New Testament, Romans 1:26,27)

Another church is no longer Christian? That is a shame, and it’s shameful. This reminds me of the recurring lapses in the Old Testament, so many of which start with “And the people of Israel again did what was evil in the sight of the Lord” and end unpleasantly for the Jews who chose evil.

I agree. Every time one of these apostate so-called "Lutheran" synods pull off another non-biblical stunt, we who are members of the conservative Missouri Synod have to jump on threads like these to point out the difference....and that the LCMS has no connection at all with these reprobates.
